- My Adventures With Superman is a new cartoon series that airs on Adult Swim and streams on Max, featuring a fresh new take on Clark Kent, Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane. The show's pretty popular, and with that popularity comes the same sort of awful discourse that comes with comic characters and animated series. We saw this with Amber from Invincible, to pretty much every new Marvel and DC property and it really had me thinking what it would be like if stuff like Justice League Unlimited, Avatar the Last Airbender or Teen Titans came out nowadays.
Anyway, the discussion surrounding this is cringe and Lois Lane and the show as a whole is overhated.

She’s not even mad at him really she’s mad at her dad and she’s letting that project onto superman to help them grow as people so we can buy their relationship more easily, and so they can grow into the people we know them as
Alright I know this is very loosely connected but I thought I’d throw in my opinion on the show
It’s good. I’m not crazy for it like some people are but I can say it’s worth watching. Also the fact they made Superman a himbo is simultaneously the funniest and most depressing thing and I’m all here for it

Jimmy is Clark’s friend and secretly knew from like when they were in college or something, of course jimmy’s opinion on the matter is gonna be held in higher regard especially when he respects his friends privacy because Lois isn’t entitled to Clark’s personal information….

This show is what if naoko takeuchi and toei animation created a super man show, I mean this show uses a of stuff from sailor moon, the super man transformation, Clark Kent looks mamoru chiba and dresses like him and the show is more focus on the characters, the story and has Huge focus on romance and has a huge shojo feel. Super Man is the Tuxedo Mask of this show, he's not perfect, he's trying to understand who is he and what he is and he also earn his powers like the characters in sailor moon. This really makes me really enjoy the show and plus it's not Zack Snyder making everything moody and have washed.

You've omitted a lot of issues with that episode and Lois' character here ngl. Like, all these beats in and of themselves are fine when described in the manner you've presented here, but there are a lot of key things in the show that change the narrative. Details like that fact that Lois is a hypocrite to her own ideals of hating lies yet this is never discussed, called out or presented as a flaw. The fact that she jumped off the roof to force out the truth from Clark when he didn't wanna say it. Yet she doesn't apologize the next episode nor does the story focus on the problems of what she did are. Having flaws isn't the issue. It's that despite these flaws being present the show admittedly doesn't really take the time to point out that her trauma doesn't justify forcing out life long secrets from people. Instead Clark's flaw of wanting to open up about his insecurity is brought to the forefront. Which falls flat when Lois is the one in much more need of an overhaul in growth as a character yet never gets this. Instead the show makes it seem that Clark keeping this secret from someone like Lois whom he doesn't even really know was someone he should've opened up to about a deep insecurity he's had for his whole life, despite the fact that he has known this woman for like a MONTH at best. This coming from a long term relationship like Jimmy or a family member would've made more sense. But, the show never calls this crap out. Threatening to kill herself, the lies, the hypocrisy, the lack of sympathy or consideration. Even if most of this is the result of trauma the narrative never makes the effort to make Lois be more trusting and apologize to Clark for her mistrust.
Had the show done made an effort to point out how fucked a lot of Lois' requests are then this would be more palatable. Great writing move even, but we just slide over it. Instead we spend a whole episode where the fault is on Clark for keeping secrets. Which is a thing a person is entitled to. I think your analysis here was good, and most of the discourse is stupid. But this is a very reductionist perspective of the show to make it seem like the show is running like a well oiled machine with her character and its development.
Fun fact! Hypocrisy is in fact a character flaw and is inherently the issue. Sure, she doesn’t outright apologize, but the following episodes deal with her trying to make up for it. The period of time is never really specified, and if this was a month or a year, people would have the same complaints. What a crazy thought that a story revolving around the romance between two people would have them try to learn more about each other.
@@bushamo The show at no point ever makes a point of when or how she would even make the discovery that she is a hypocrite though. At no point in an episode is there a realisation or an interaction that makes her aware of this hypocrisy. Her making up for the trouble she causes Clark as she put it can then probably allude to the more likely idea that she's talking about the fact that Clark is always getting into major conflict due to her dangerous and brash nature. She never even makes a point of realising she can trust others to have secrets without them hurting her. Hell, within the Jimmy scene she doesn't recognise her flaw, but doubles down. Exclaiming about how Jimmy kept the it a secret from HER. And yeah in romantic relationships you're gonna wanna, but you don't ask for your partner's deepest darkest secret that they've kept from people they're closer to and have known longer than you withing weeks of even being aware of their existence. Like, what do they really know about eachother as is outside of work stuff? She has some trauma from her Dad and that Clark is from a the country. It's a big leap in ANY relationship to then jump from that to claiming you have the right to know something THAT personal.
@@bornanime3255 I fully Agree with you. I hate the people simply ignoring this about Lois just cause she's hot. No she shouldn't get a pass she been lying to Clark A LOT and he seem to forgive her more than she deserve. Now Lois have a secret from Clark and I don't see her revealing it to him.
@@bornanime3255 The latest episode does it. In it Lois is hiding his secret from Vicky Vale. An mirror to what Lois wanted to be in a reporter who is also her hero. She betrayed and lied to them to create a slam piece on Superman.
Patience is a virtue. Asking why don't they give you want you want that second when your only in the middle of the story just looks short cited.
@@compareandcontrast9833 Bruh, I gave the show the benefit of the doubt for two weeks in a row and it didn't give out. Can you blame me for not holding out till the 3rd? BUT, I will concede that this latest episode did actually show some actual growth from Lois. The added touch of her not getting angry or pushy when Super Man is looking tired and stressed yet doesn't spill is great too. However, up until this recent episode there was no signs of real blame on her part nor push for growth for her bull shit. Which is what was being talked about in the video and by me. Nothing wrong with working with what you got.

I’d like to make a slight disagreement to the moral dilemma here. Yes, a character can have doubts, they can be flawed, that’s a plot point, and if you’re going to focus on that, I’d like it to be a bit longer than one episode. Have maybe an arc, stretch it out. You don’t just go “oh, I’m a narcissist to my friends and loved ones, I’ll just stop being that” and then it’s solved the next day. I’d like to see the struggle and the growth (while RWBY only does the struggle)

Same with character just because they are good person doesn't any value if you have flaws traits and positive traits is what makes you a character.
