  • Explanation of how motor learning theory plays into what we do in speech therapy for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
    Notes:
    Precursors To Motor Learning:
    *Relationship
    *Motivation / Attention
    *Pre-Practice / Stimulability
    Many Trials:
*Minimize praise and fun time / tactile time
*Use activities that will give many opportunities to try
    Distributed Practice:
    *More frequent, shorter sessions
    Random Practice:
*Mix targets together (don’t just target one sound until mastery)
    *Prevents over-generalization
    *Specific Feedback is Key
*Cueing and Prompting So They Can Practice it Correctly

Hey there! Here is a great resource from our website about voice disorders. If you are concerned that your daughter may have a voice problem, please speak to her doctor about it! www.speechandlanguagekids.com/sotb7-overview-of-voice-disorders-and-therapy-with-kyle-meades/
