I was just telling a friend how easy it is to make mayo. The only thing I wish I had known earlier is that the eggs need to be at room temperature. Before we started raising our own chickens, I tried to use store-bought eggs, and they were cold, so it would never come out right. It took me forever to figure out what we were doing wrong. 🥚🥚🥚
Yes I forgot to mention how helpful that is! We leave our eggs out on the counter since they are freshly gathered every day, so they’re always room temperature. It’s very handy!
I prep potatoes. Peel them and cut them up and soak in water 12 hrs etc. pour off water and rinse well. Then I cook them dente. Use them for breakfast, soups, tacos etc. I have CKD Stage 3, due to untreated HBP years ago. My kidneys have stayed at this level for 20+ years. I do all I can with foods that are kidney friendly. Julie, I so admire you and your family. Blessings to you and yours for the soon to be new son. ❤
When my girls were young I meal prepped like crazy. It literally allowed me to enjoy life more bc it lessened the stress and it increased the joy of meal time. Also the girls learned to plan and prep meals ahead. I’m now planning my last daughter’s wedding and they all ask and consult with me about recipes and planning ahead for their own families now. I remember one time I started a small fire in the kitchen and I’d prep so many meals on a Saturday I would insist we order pizza for dinner😂. But it was a winning strategy. Now just hubby and I I still will thaw and marinate 3 meats on Sunday and pair with veggies or salad and we’re set for the week.
Apple Cider Vinaigrette (writing down the measurements for myself and thought someone else might want them!): - 1 1/2 cup oil (olive or avocado) - 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar - 4 tbsp honey - 4 tsp mustard (or 6 tsp for stronger mustard flavour, about 2 tbsp) - 1/2 tsp black pepper - 1/2 tsp paprika - 1/4 tsp garlic - 1/2 tsp salt
That is a colossal organization to feed a big family morning/lunch/dinner every day ! I make my home made mayonnaise exactly like you ! And it is always a success too. For the dressing, I never put vinegar but fresh lemon instead, and never any sweet (honey or anything) I have difficulties to understand the need people have to put sugar in everything here in salted food. Try without sugar, you will see, it is better 🙂 I am very interested in trying the kombucha and the popsicles recipes ! Thank you for sharing, they look awesome !
There is nothing I can add compared to what you do weekly! We are a family of 4 to 6 people. The numbers change depending on if my grandchildren, two teens, are with use. So 4 adults and then sometimes the grandchildren and usually at least one dinner per week with another adult daughter and her husband and 2 kids. My best prep routine for our family is to always have a couple of meat proteins defrosting and clean, prepped vegetables ready to go each week including a green salad. If I have all that I don’t get overwhelmed. In the colder months I keep a soup made so when my numbers change on a moments notice I can either serve that or extend our meals by offering that to stretch the amount of food for that meal. I also keep my bread maker handy for the same reason. Food management is no joke. It takes planning and a routine to be successful and stay on the food budget you have decided on. We have one daughter about to leave the nest soon with her family of 3. (mom, dad and new infant son) She is our fifth child. She is suddenly interested in all things home management hahaha. She too will find her routine. She has seen it for years. All the others fumbled and then found their footing when they needed to.
It always looks so scrumptious when you put that fresh creme into your coffee! I normally drink my coffee black, but I'd DEFINITELY put THAT creme in there. I prefer Avocado mayonnaise, but unfortunately my husband doesn't like it. You got a lot accomplished!
I just took the time to brown and drain my ground beef, then put in bags and sealed. Put in the freezer. That way I can pull it out for tacos, spaghetti, and other dinners.
Hey Julie, have been enjoying watching your channel for almost a year now. Currently pregnant with my 3rd baby and I am 32 weeks and 1 day. I have been making iced coffee but I wanted to start some cold brew myself. Thank you for sharing your prepping ideas. I am currently prepping meals for when the baby comes. We have a 2 years old girl and a 1 year old girl. So hopefully the Lord blessed us with a boy. Finding out at birth! God bless you and your family!
Cold brew is my favorite, but i have to limit myself because of stomach issues. I would just love to try shepherds croosk! I could see myself being a believer
i get my worker to cut up all my veggies in a huge bowl and eat on it for a week i dont put lettuce in it but when i want a salad i just break up some lettuce and put the veggies on top and enjoy, the veggies dont go bad or slimey as long as the lettuce is not in it hugsssss
A couple of things I do to set myself up well in the kitchen is refilling pantry items from my storage buckets (flour, rice, etc). Feed my sourdough for the week, check/make kombucha, and start a batch of milk kefir. Also, just before groceries I clean out the fridge. It’s so much easier to put groceries away this way! Coffee!
Cold brew coffee sounds so good, need to try that. Also hoping to try your mayo recipe. The biggest thing we do to get ready for the week is meal plan☕😀
I drink cold brew coffee all year! I make it by the gallon jar...1.5 cups of coffee to most of the jar full of water and let it sit on the counter for 24 hours before straining it.
That cold Coffee Brew looks delicious! 😋 I never thought about making my own mayo, I think I'll give that a try. Loved watching the vlog today. You and your family have a great Memorial Weekend. Hugs from Nova in New Mexico🦋☺️🦋☺️🦋☺️🦋
I batch cook for the week. Did chicken casserole, Tator Tot casserole, chicken salad, and potato salad for today that will last us and some guests over the next 3 days. Also pulling out banana nut bread and chocolate chip pumpkin bread that I batch cooked months ago.
Thank you for sharing your recipes and prep for the week. One thing I do to prep is premix any of the dry ingredients for biscuits, muffins, pancakes, that sort of thing. Then it's really quick and easy to mix up. Also, we love coffee in this house. I keep saying I need to try Shepherds Crook.
I think you’ll love Shepherds Crook. They gave me a code to share with new customers. KREKE25 for 25% off your first order of any regular sized bags. Www.shepherdscrookcoffee.com
I also can't drink coffee due to heart palpitations and feeling terrible! I use mt. Hagen decaffeinated organic instant coffee:) I'll have to try shepherds crook!
Hi Julie, when making mayo, if you measure your oil in your canning jar(the canning jar has measurements on it) before adding the egg you won't have another thing to wash:) I'm the oldest of nine, we didn't have a dishwasher so I know that it's nice not to create more dirty dishes than necessary:) Love to you all!
Good video. I learned what cold brew coffee actually is, not like I thought regular coffee just cold. LOL Have a great wk end and thanks for the info and stay healthy.
Thank you for making this video! As a young mama, it helps so much to see exactly what someone else does to prep for the week. You gave me some wonderful ideas! Also, I have been having trouble finding a coffee that doesn't mess with me too, so I will see if I can get some from Shepherds Crook. Have a blessed week!
I love to prep 6-12 pounds of various ground meats for things like tacos, taco salad, potato toppings, burrito fillings and even to add to eggs in the mornings. I also love to make MANY pounds of sweet potatoes in the insta pot and freeze in individual bags. Then they make quik lunch for me with some ground meat on top or just butter and cinnamon. Bulk bread making saves a bunch of time too.
I just wanted to let you know that I tried the dressing recipe that you guys use and it is absolutely delicious. I did use half apple cider vinegar and half fire cider in mine. Thanks so much for the recipe.
I have been a coffee drinker for about fifty years; but, I have been taking chemotherapy on and off for four years now and find that the taste of my coffee has changed along with other things. I would love to give the Shepherd's Crook coffee a try!
I had thought about making a pot of coffee for ice coffee. So Thank You. I love to try new coffee's all the time. Usually when I'm off work I drink a pound a week. God Bless

I made those Popsicles for my kiddos too. So much better for them than store bought. You deserve that rest momma, you did quite a lot. ❤
Oh wow I didn't know that about cold brew coffee. All this time I just thought it was brewed coffee chilled and poured over ice with cream.
Apple Cider Vinaigrette (writing down the measurements for myself and thought someone else might want them!):

Coffee, coffee, coffee 😂🎉❤ Love coffee here in Canada 😊
There are reports that Stevia is not safe. I’d rather not add any sugar at all. Or add organic cane sugar when I do use it infrequently.
