This is such a beautiful ARG. The amount of symbolism is wonderful, and the amount of dedication of the players from start to finish is amazing. It'll be hard to top this.
Well she did say that even though she knows it's stupid and knows it's a trap, she still HAS to go because she knows its her "fate" to confront him. She knew she would probably die being near him, but she took that "chance" anyway. It was her choice and she knew what she was getting herself into.
I mean, there's a difference between stupid and reckless. Stupid would be not recognizing the trap. Reckless is going in anyway, potential consequences be damned
@@Emma88178 this dee-defending is giving me life (though i'm team f8 4eva). and the backstory was also that this was right after f8 had released the list of player names so she feared they were in danger if she didn't go.
Well, considering being a serial killer requires you cruelly murdering a multitude of innocent people on a whim for the stupidest fucking reasons, it's not surprising that Infinity is just a little, _tiny_ bit of an ass...
Most are. They tend to suffer from severe mental illnesses, and often times in real world cases they have a sort of god complex and from what I've noticed have a sort of narcissism. Take the Zodiac killer killing people for his own gain in a believed after life where they would serve as his slaves (if that letter was correct) or the cockiness of several killers in sending letters and clues to detectives on purpose. It's actually pretty true to life.
read up on some of them, Son of Sam, Richard Ramirez, ya name them, they always think they are the smartest person in the room. That is until they get caught, though they still think they are the smartest people in the room in court. they laugh, they smile, they pose for the camera. they have this fixation that they are better when in reality they are just flawed like everyone else, everyone else gets their kicks with movies, with books, with games nowadays, they just don't have that within them.
Had just found this channel about 6 hours into my work shift. I've listened to 3 other videos including part 1. I was shocked to see part 2 when I refreshed. Gonna make the last hours of work go fast. Amazing work your doing Night Mind
Now that was a satisfying if somewhat dramatic ending. Then again, very much in keeping with the TV show's themes so that's just fine. Thank you once again, Night Mind, for adding a useful and detailed commentary to the experience.
Oh I loooooove what you did with the thumbnails, that's such a clever trick, and frankly, I'm surprised I've never seen it done before. I just opened your channel on the and instantly was like "Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice"
What about his statement about his typos? What if he programmed the gun pointed at Dee with the choice of him and visa versa? Could the hunters have meant to kill Dee??
That's what I thought. It'd fit his M.O. as well, seeing as his whole bit was to show that no one had control of their fate. How perfect would it be to show that by ripping away their illusion of control of the situation by switching the gun. Maybe the hunters caught on to it, maybe they meant to kill her, or maybe we're over-thinking it.
@@TheDapperDragon don't remember if we even considered it. i guess in a post-GoT world, now it wouldn't seem so strange. we were really invested in our players though, wouldn't have screwed them over like that. still, some ppl cried when he died! fun fact: F8 got 35% of votes.
This whole ARG look pretty fun but the ending ruins it. The actors and location just took me out of it when you give them too much screen time it shows the lack of acting chops they have.
let me just take my time to appreciate how you actually managed to make the infinity symbol appear with your thumbnails when both your videos show up in order
There were so many clues spread out in so many places you can really tell they had the backing of a big production company. That's not a bad thing at all but the sheer volume of it makes me really impressed that the players managed to find everything.
Me five minutes ago: awww, i wonder when night mind will upload part two, i hope it’s ssoon Me now: do i have the power to summon nick? What should i do with such power?

I started watching part one in my bathtub and just as I was wondering if there was a part 2 yet, I get the notification. NightMind always knows when to pop up.
I think that the 7th victim was going to be Angel. Either her or it's what NM's conclusion was, but the first victim was Infinity before he got kidnapped. I'm sure he changed so much after he had to kill someone.

This is such an interesting ARG that's ruined by the final talking scene. Like. Man. It reminds me of the infamous "my father's tapes" final scene. Infinity was given too much time to explain himself and Dee was given too much time to be "cocky badass woman detective". Other than that, god. This ARG has some wonderful puzzles and I'm definitely gonna go back and try to solve some of them myself.
awesome that you dug the puzzles in here, we went deeeeep. had forgotten so many of the details. as for the final scene, maybe you're right. hard to say, bc at the time this was a 20-minute ending to a journey that players went on for months on end. folks were understandably very invested & we wanted to give them an end that would feel satisfying, unrushed and would answer any lingering questions. to give you a sense of investment for players then vs watchers now: at one point we did a 24-hour live stream with random clues, convinced that in the spirit of crowdsourcing folks might pop in & out, relying on each other to fill in anything they missed. to our shock, there were people who decided to miss work, and more than a few people who wrote in the chat how they didn't wanna go to the bathroom for fear they might miss a clue. like, bodily function 0, investment in story 1 - that's commitment.
Congratulations on 500k subs. You’ve earned them man. You’ve inspired me to make my own ARG’s and the creations of many others. Thank you for all that you do. Happy holidays.
I left in the middle of a first date because we got in such a heated debate about being inherently good that sometimes mess up vs shitty that occasionally do a nice thing.. People are inherently good (barring mental things like sociopathy and the like, and even then, that doesn't make you evil)... And I'll die on that hill.
Oh wow! It must’ve been amazing to watch this happen in real time. I was definitely too young for this at the time, I was like 11, but despite not ever participating in this, it was gripping. Thanks Nick

Thank for bringing back all these fond memories Nick, it’s been fun to revisit it!! I vividly remember these bits and how much we all hated Dee towards the end. F8 was just so much more fun and was the only one giving us leads and actual things to work with. The iirc chat was so mad at the finial voted decision it was hilarious and amazing 😂
loreleib he was more helpful and interesting than Dee 😂 plus he had more screen time so we absolutely connected with him more. The day he died and we all lost our minds wanting to know who voted for him is still my favorite thing hahah
@@alsoknownaspixie i mean it's probably the most common tattoo in the world (think i read that somewhere) so the odds are solid. but the sheer NUMBER of times i saw infinity symbols everywhere during that project. it's like every rubber band EVER was twisted into an infinity symbol that whole summer. even for months after, those of us on the team would randomly text each other infinity symbols spotted in the wild. feel like the players were doing it too, we all had 8 on the brain.

OH MY GOD this is like manna from heavens, esp considering this is a COMMENT ON THE INTERNET, so i've been trying to have a thick skin here. thanks for the kind words, we were such a small team totally in way over our heads & having a killer (lol) time with it.
One of the most obvious (from my perspective, anyway) flaws in the way the killer in this ARG chose his victims is that I find the people who change "fate" the most ARE the people who blend in. They are the people who go unthanked. They consistently do good work in a million different little ways for a million different people, changing millions of lives in one big cosmic ripple effect. I understand the bit about people standing out and gaining notoriety, but these people are often well known, and well loved, in their communities, regardless of how much notoriety they gain in the media. It was one of his own rules to blend in, to be forgettable, to disguise his BIG actions by seeming average. Why did he think his potential victims would be different?
I wish there was more TV show based ARGs now a days, because I would have loved to be involved in this one, but I was 11 and had strict parents when it came to this type of content.
Your voice is so smooth and buttery, the soothing tone and rhythmic lilting just put frayed nerves at ease!! You know I bet you would be crazy popular on an app like TH-cam or Twitch😉. All jokes aside you make all my nostalgia feelings bubble to the surface because you remind me of an old AM radio jockey from back in the '90s when I was a kid. Nick, keep them coming and I will keep coming and liking and commenting and sharing and all the things! LOVE YOU MAN
"If you move your head, the automatic rifle goes off." How does this kill her? If the gun is pointed at her head wouldn't it miss? If the gun is pointed at her body couldn't she curve her body while keeping her head mostly there, then jumping? All she needs to do is find out where the gun is pointing, then reflex speed is meaningless as long as she keeps her body out of the way.
Wow this was awesome. I wish I could have been apart. But thank you night mind for creating this so we can all enjoy it :) After all this work I just had to join your patreon. Thanks for creating some truly amazing things
I know it's fake and it was never intended to be thought as real, but... sometimes the two of them (D and the killer) act so much like stereotypical characters and what we'd think a serial killer/serial hunter would be like that it looks SO fake. Not enjoyable. "I'm a serial huntress, I'm tough, I look tough, I'm not scared, I'm even gonna taunt the killer when he calls me directly" "I'm a serial killer, I'm edgy, I'm super smart, and people don't understand me"
Also, the two D's positioned like that make up the symbol for Dolby. Which is associated with stereo, which comes from the Greek word Stereos, meaning "solid". Which could reflect the unshakeable nature of Infinity's mentality.
Wait I don’t get it, if fate is an unchangeable end to everyone, wouldn’t, let’s say, a firefighter saving someone from a fire be a part of fate, meaning that persons fate is dying at a later date? Like wouldn’t a murderer be the true destroyer of fate by killing people early? Or rather scratch that thought, wouldn’t any death, murder, or even a save be a part of fate? This murderer doesn’t make much sense to me...
You kinda have to assume that if someone is killing people and making it an online spectacle, they're probably not running with the most logical explanations of things. Real serial killers are masters at blocking out cognitive dissonance. Not to mention, people whose religions talk about fate and free will never come to conclusions about what those things have to do with each other. Can God punish a human for using their free will to kill someone else, if that was already in his plan for humanity? Stuff like that.
One of my favorite tv villains is Moriarty and as many flaws as Sherlock has they did a brilliant job writing for such a amusing and subtly evil villain. The writing in this reminds me of the philosophy based villain type and I really enjoy it

"I say goodbye with no regrets... except for maybe my typos." I relate to this far too well!

"no rigrets"
This is such a beautiful ARG. The amount of symbolism is wonderful, and the amount of dedication of the players from start to finish is amazing.
It'll be hard to top this.

'Now, I'm not stupid.'
Follows up by saying their going into an obvious trap alone.
Reckless is going in anyway, potential consequences be damned
hahaha okay you're not wrong here

so like are serial killers required to be this pretentious jesus christ
In the world of Dexter, yes.
I see you've never watched Dexter
Had just found this channel about 6 hours into my work shift. I've listened to 3 other videos including part 1. I was shocked to see part 2 when I refreshed. Gonna make the last hours of work go fast. Amazing work your doing Night Mind
Now that was a satisfying if somewhat dramatic ending. Then again, very much in keeping with the TV show's themes so that's just fine. Thank you once again, Night Mind, for adding a useful and detailed commentary to the experience.
thrilled you thought so
Love watching these ARG baby steps. I'm also glad gamerunners of this calibre started writing more believable dialogue after this.
"I've had years of practice in the art of being forgettable" is a mood
@Hayley LOL
@@TheDapperDragon don't remember if we even considered it. i guess in a post-GoT world, now it wouldn't seem so strange. we were really invested in our players though, wouldn't have screwed them over like that. still, some ppl cried when he died! fun fact: F8 got 35% of votes.
The team was ready for either scenario! Because with a crowdsourced ARG you can’t control your f8.
MonoChronicle yes indeed!
I just noticed how the two videos make a infinity symbol when stacked on each other
That was probably done on purpose.
Also, sneaky sneaky NM. Well done

You go on the videos section and you can see it so clearly well hidden NM
WHOA WHOA WHOA. you hide an ARG easter egg in an ARG recap vid. i see you, NM. *tips hat*
Big production yeah.. so I don't get why such an bad actress. Made the whole feeling more cringe instead of exciting
Me five minutes ago: awww, i wonder when night mind will upload part two, i hope it’s ssoon
Me now: do i have the power to summon nick? What should i do with such power?
Use the force, Tenshinohana
You are the chosen one
What do you think? Summon him, duh
Just imagine
You just summon Nick while he's doing his morning routine (idfk what he does) and it's just awkward silence
I would recommend not summoning the otherworldly entity when he doesn't want to be summoned. Based off everything you should know having watched him, summoning beings against their will, or even threw there will, ends poorly.

Gotta love how you go the extra mile to make sure your thumbnails line up 👌
Maaaaan I've been really desensitized and never flinched to movies or felt emotions towards fictional media but recently they've made me feel a lil bit more than day to day life hqs since my current meds. I love this stuff and thank you for your reveiws, showcasing and work.

I love what you did with the thumbnails for both of these videos. That was super clever and Ive never seen anything like it before

"THAT WAS A LOT OF WORK"...my thoughts exactly. Cheers to those that were apart of this. Very cool.
Night mind uploading at 2 in the morning for me... PERFECTION!!!
Fun fact! He designed the thumbnail so that if you put this video above the first part, it makes a full infinity loop. That's a fun detail.
Congratulations on 500k subs. You’ve earned them man. You’ve inspired me to make my own ARG’s and the creations of many others. Thank you for all that you do. Happy holidays.
oh, it is adorable how even your emoticons have four eyes ::3
I left in the middle of a first date because we got in such a heated debate about being inherently good that sometimes mess up vs shitty that occasionally do a nice thing.. People are inherently good (barring mental things like sociopathy and the like, and even then, that doesn't make you evil)... And I'll die on that hill.
Yes, perfect. NM keeps me from losing it late at night while doing homework. So the timing of this is perfect.
Oh wow! It must’ve been amazing to watch this happen in real time. I was definitely too young for this at the time, I was like 11, but despite not ever participating in this, it was gripping. Thanks Nick

i’m super excited to see this all play out tbh.
legit thank you nightmind.
Thank for bringing back all these fond memories Nick, it’s been fun to revisit it!! I vividly remember these bits and how much we all hated Dee towards the end. F8 was just so much more fun and was the only one giving us leads and actual things to work with. The iirc chat was so mad at the finial voted decision it was hilarious and amazing 😂
hahaha i know it was hilarious. you gotta love a villain, right?
loreleib he was more helpful and interesting than Dee 😂 plus he had more screen time so we absolutely connected with him more. The day he died and we all lost our minds wanting to know who voted for him is still my favorite thing hahah
@@alsoknownaspixie i will forever wonder if someone actually got that infinity tattoo they posted about
loreleib honestly probably 😂 it super felt fitting for that time period
@@alsoknownaspixie i mean it's probably the most common tattoo in the world (think i read that somewhere) so the odds are solid. but the sheer NUMBER of times i saw infinity symbols everywhere during that project. it's like every rubber band EVER was twisted into an infinity symbol that whole summer. even for months after, those of us on the team would randomly text each other infinity symbols spotted in the wild. feel like the players were doing it too, we all had 8 on the brain.
That was an amazing journey. Ive never seen a single episode of dexter, but right from the first five minutes of the first video I Was Hooked. This was so amazing and with every turn I didnt just Want to know what happened next. I Needed To Know.
For this whole thing to have pulled off such an elaborate hunt, amazing writing, and to have such a satisfying ending?? Truly amazing craftsmanship and one of the reasons I adore ARGs. This was so fun to watch and I won't lie, its been living in my head since I watched the first video
OH MY GOD this is like manna from heavens, esp considering this is a COMMENT ON THE INTERNET, so i've been trying to have a thick skin here. thanks for the kind words, we were such a small team totally in way over our heads & having a killer (lol) time with it.
damn the killer looks like John. like... he's really.... basic? looking at marble hornets n shit, he's so... basic. and normal. it's unique.
He tried to look so normal and average he's unnatural looking and strange
He’s a serial killer, and they tend to be some of the most normal looking people you’ll ever meet
Yo Nightmind, don't usually leave comments but I gotta commend you on the thumbnail design. Absolutely genius man.
8:10 Understandably I was a little shaken up when I heard that.
we're onto you trebolt
for a moment i forgot this was dexter themed. then "angel, no relation" happened
I saw my name! You even got the accent over the A!!! Thanks Nick, you've got a proud supporter over here!!
Umm I would be concerned about Dad my guy. He already got Mat-Pat, and I'm scared for your safety.
That's such an interesting way to do a two part, so creative!
A whole hour! Again!!
Night Mind you really know how to treat us.
:D
I've been waiting for this one! Awesome work as always Night Mind
All this build up just to drop "maybe we're not so different after all"
I wish there was more TV show based ARGs now a days, because I would have loved to be involved in this one, but I was 11 and had strict parents when it came to this type of content.
LOVE YOU MAN
the thumbnails matching up made me feel so content.
"If you move your head, the automatic rifle goes off."
How does this kill her? If the gun is pointed at her head wouldn't it miss? If the gun is pointed at her body couldn't she curve her body while keeping her head mostly there, then jumping? All she needs to do is find out where the gun is pointing, then reflex speed is meaningless as long as she keeps her body out of the way.
Is nobody talking about how cool the two thumbnails were?
Wow this was awesome. I wish I could have been apart. But thank you night mind for creating this so we can all enjoy it :)
After all this work I just had to join your patreon. Thanks for creating some truly amazing things
Can we take a moment to admire how unique part 1 and part 2’s thunbnails are?
This was awesome! Thank you for laying out this detailed ARG. 💜
Did anyone else get My Dad's Tapes flashbacks during the meeting scene? [*pours margarita*]
I know it's fake and it was never intended to be thought as real, but... sometimes the two of them (D and the killer) act so much like stereotypical characters and what we'd think a serial killer/serial hunter would be like that it looks SO fake. Not enjoyable.
"I'm a serial huntress, I'm tough, I look tough, I'm not scared, I'm even gonna taunt the killer when he calls me directly"
"I'm a serial killer, I'm edgy, I'm super smart, and people don't understand me"
That is fun though. Stereotypes aren't always a bad thing and I had a very enjoyable time. Not every story needs to feel 'real' to be entertaining.
These videos always have a consistent quality I admire. Great work NM!
finale playing out like a high school debate with lots of side smirks.
Also, the two D's positioned like that make up the symbol for Dolby. Which is associated with stereo, which comes from the Greek word Stereos, meaning "solid". Which could reflect the unshakeable nature of Infinity's mentality.
The way the two parts thumbnails line up is *chefs kiss
