A tip for the future, when you are building your permanent structure, use nails instead for screw. Nails are flexible and will still hold your structure together are it settles. Screws don't have any give and will snap if you structure shifts too much. This is a tip my old carpenter teacher taught me. Love the videos, Keep it up!!!

For the beam supports, you want the nut around the middle of the shank. This will give you room to adjust it up and down when you need to re level after the ground shifts from freeze/thawing. If you have the shank all the way into the block, you can only adjust it up. Looking Good!!

To square something up like that you can use the 3,4,5, rule. Make a triangle 3ft on one leg, 4 foot on the other leg and 5ft on the connecting diagonal.
If you need to check for square you can also use Pythagorean theorem, it's really easy to use, easiest way is that you check it out online, me trying to explain without being able to draw a triangle will be laughable. Once you use it you'll be able to get a lot more accurate on your builds. 👍

You did a great job and that platform is ready to build a little cabin that you can use as shed when your permanent cabin will be done. A little cabin is safer for "wild unfriendly visitors" and weather protection than a tent. If you built that platform, you can easily do it. Have you thought about buying a portable milling machine? It's not only an excellent investment for wilderness settlement in Alaska but a tool to save a lot of money in buying lumber to depots as well. You're in the middle of lumber mine! By the way, buy a face and arms mosquito nets, you're going to need it badly not only for mosquitos but for black flies that are worse as well. Your videos are funny and entertaining. At the beginning of the Video you struggle making your platform square, to make sure the edges are square you can use your tape measure to trace a circle and find the intersection points.
I enjoy these vids! My $0.001 is that you could use some of the natural resources in your immediate area like the trees you downed to be more cost and time efficient. Tree rounds are excellent replacements for the concrete footers although their lifespan is shorter I don't think it matters on something that you do not plan on being permanent.

I agree. But why didn’t he insulate it? It would have been a cinch to install some sort of water resistant insulating material and a moisture barrier.
