Its not. He is in the show as are several of the OGs but they aren't playing the same characters. Like Gambit, Wolverine, and I forget the 3rd their VA's are in the show but they aren't reprising their roles due to age changing their voices.
Steven Yuen was supposed to play Sentry, he didn't walk off the set or anything like that though. They haven't even started filming that yet, he backed out due to schedule conflicts

Magneto is the leader now. When they announced it they also showed that Sunspot is dating Jubilee and Nightcrawler, Forge, Cable are also on the team. A lot of the living Voice Actors returned but they aren't playing the same characters. Gambits switched to voicing Cable, and a few others that returned are doing different characters too due to age. Their all in the 60's and 70's now.

Stephen Yung was not playing Hyperion in Thunderbolts he was cast to play Sentry, and also he didn't walk away from set either, lol! he just decided to drop from the role cause he didn't feel comfortable portraying a character that is supposed to be white and not Asian, and because of the fan uproar behind his casting which him dropping out was very smart of him to do, now Marvel casted some one who looks a bit more fitting for the role.

I love X-Men. They've always been Marvel's A-List squad and comic. Proper order is about to be restored not that Marvel has the film rights back to ALL of their X characters, F4, and Deadpool. Marvel tossed them aside, comics wise, for many years due to not having the films rights and focused on pushing the Avengers.

It’s the same voice actor Cal Dodd from the original. Our voices change over time so I believe his voice is similar but deeper than before.

So all the OG voice actors from back in the day are back to do Xmen 97 with the exception of Norm Spencer the OG Cyclops who died in 2020.
Correction: Jean Grey, Gambit, Magneto, Morph and Bishop OG voice actors are not doing the voices either.

Sadly I never grew up with X-men 97(born in the 2000s so I got X-men evolution instead) but I’m willing to watch the old show to get ready
