Hey Gelardi. You said you dont know what you´re doing with the osc retrig. The retrig knob is just to "lock" the oscillators phase start point. If turned off the phase start is random what results in a more "alive" feel. I like the way how you explain the different layers of the bassline. Very great Tutorial!! Keep up the good work ;) Cheers Chris
This is one of the most helpful tutorials I've ever seen. It'd be great if you could make more videos showing the other elements of this track like the kick, percussion, leads / pads, etc...
Excellent Gelardi, thank you showed all VST & VSTi tools for writing bass Uplifting Trance, Cool, but it would be even cooler more detailed step by step analysis of Bass.
Holy! dude this is some amazing stuff! thanks for sharing your wisdom on bassline creation i swear it's one of the hardest things for me to create sound design wise.
This is a great tutorial and track man, I hope you make more. I'd really like to see one on chord progressions for uplifting trance if possible, or your creative process and how you begin a track. Thanks again for this, though.
There will always be other elements (Pads, leads, percussion whatnot) that'll have some frequencies around 80-165hz so yes it helps :) Also the rest of the bassline (Not the sub) isn't in mono and therefore their lower frequencies will not be monoed.. Also I like to keep my kicks normal stereo as the snap of the kick won't be as good if you mono it, for me it works better just monoing the low freqs with TP.. And I've heard good things about Nugen :)
Because Sub Basses should always be in mono - It makes the overall mix much more clean and banging :) I also have the TP Basslane plugin on the master channel to mono everything below 185hz :)
Thx for reply. I learned a lot from this video. BTW it will be interesting as well what is going on in lead-pluck section. I always have level fighting between bassline and pluck-leads
Awesome!! Thanks very much for such a detailed and insightful tutorial!! Would you perhaps be able to do a tut on percussion in these kinds of tracks? I always really struggle because if I keep it minimal then it just doesn't have the drive or energy a 136-140bm tune needs, but if I go heavy with lots of loops, they seem to all clash or the different rhythms seem to cause a mess in the flow. If that makes sense? Thanks! :)
Good bassline. You have very pure pads ;) All sounds EQing and compress by FabFilter plugins?? Perfect mastering of project,do you have clean master??(I mean no eq,comp, limiter etc. ...)
Hey, awesome track and tutorail! Couldnt helpt notice your are using Loops. Are they Perc and Hihats loops? I have been a little bit picky about using Finnished samples, but i resently starting to think: hey... Arnt they made to be used? x) Sorry my English
Thanks! I don't master myself, I only do the final mixdown :) I don't limit or comp on master or anything I do it on individual channels though.. For compressing I use the URS Native Strip Pro compressor ;)
If CPU is an issue - Bounce everything to Wav. file and create an arrangement project. Then create all your sounds across one or two projects then bounce it to wav and arrange it.
Great tut mate, really hlping :D, i have a question Tho, At 13:32 i see a low cut on your bass but there is some Frequencies that get passed the eq from 0---50 hz, is that normal ?
I like the kick drum. Where did you get such good sounding kick drum? Love the bassline though, but i think 7 layers little too much. But nice sounding track!
It all depends on the style of the bassline.. If I want to do a fatter type of bassline I don't use delay, if I make a more pacy, floaty bassline (Aly & Fila-like) then I use delay :)
As I said earlier: "It all depends on the style of the bassline.. If I want to do a fatter type of bassline I don't use delay, if I make a more pacy, floaty bassline (Aly & Fila-like) then I use delay :)" I never use reverb on my basslines except when I play with farty ones / 2.0
Also, putting everything below 185hz in mono sounds like a very good thing, but i always make sure my kick and sub are always in mono. So doing that, would it make any difference if i would also mono everything below 185hz with a plug in, or would it be unnecessary, since the kick and sub are already in mono? UNfortunately the TP basslane does not work for mac, but i have Nugen filter. Do you think it could do the job?
It's all about choosing the right samples ;) I use Myloops samples a lot when it comes to percussion actually.. They had their Cosmos pack up for a free DL for some time and it's an absolute killer pack! :)
That plugin TP Bassline - what difference does it make? I've tried it but havent heard a big difference...You said it's very important so trying to figure out why. Good work by the way man.
Can you turn up your mic about 6 more db in the future? Its a good tutorial in that it gives me some good ideas and expands my rolling bassline patch library. I was going to subscribe and then saw this is the only tutorial you had. Why not more? Do we need to buy you beer?
What is the relation between kick and sc kick in terms of placing sc kick so when breakdown appears then you would not want some strange bass wobble when not needed. Also what is a glue compression?
That's dope. I just followed you on SoundCloud, and your song/remix is pretty good tho, some needs more mastering btw. Just curious, do you put your work to InfraSonic record, or do they contact you for record labels after your first single, Deira?
I'm looking for some trancey female voices...similar to the ones in this track labelled "Vox" I think :) Any websites or download links would be brilliant. Preferably free ones but if they are definitely worth it, I might be interested. Thanks in advance! :)
For all you guys who requested the FLP or a more in depth tutorial, this is for you! You can now get 'Gelardi Template Essentials Volume 1' on Freshly Squeezed Samples - Links in the description! :)
You know it's because of you and your creations i changed..i love deira, it's my favourite trance track. I love you man

This is one of the best and clearest tutorials on youtube, its perfect, and great song!
This is one of the most helpful tutorials I've ever seen.

One of the best tuts around, great job and thank you for sharing!
Excellent Gelardi, thank you showed all VST & VSTi tools for writing bass Uplifting Trance, Cool, but it would be even cooler more detailed step by step analysis of Bass.
nice trick for the sidechain kick ! thanks for showing it,
Holy! dude this is some amazing stuff! thanks for sharing your wisdom on bassline creation i swear it's one of the hardest things for me to create sound design wise.
wow, thanks, hope i can make a monster track like yours one day, cant wait to hear the finished product!
nice mixing and emotional melody!!!
It has been released on Armada Music "The Blizzard & Daniel Van Sand Ft. Julie Thompson - Made For You (Gelardi Remix)" :)
This is a great tutorial and track man, I hope you make more. I'd really like to see one on chord progressions for uplifting trance if possible, or your creative process and how you begin a track. Thanks again for this, though.
Love it. Thank you for the insight! Would love to see a similar video on leads in an 'uplifting' track!
best tutorial everrrrrr
Amazing work. Really.
In the mixer beneath everything you can click on small tabs that'll allow you to either sidechain or hook up channels as busses :)
Ah okay thank you. Sounds really great! Thank you for this awesome tutorial!

best one iv'e seen so far!!! good work man
Excellent tutorial and track. Thanks for all the useful info. Do you have any swing on the bass or do you run it pretty straight? Thanks.
Because Sub Basses should always be in mono - It makes the overall mix much more clean and banging :) I also have the TP Basslane plugin on the master channel to mono everything below 185hz :)
you are awesome, hope every producer shows some stuff like you, big fan of You peace
Nice tune!! Good tutorial. Where did you learn to use all that stuff?
Great Work!!!
Wow very nice track!
Thx for reply. I learned a lot from this video.
BTW it will be interesting as well what is going on in lead-pluck section. I always have level fighting between bassline and pluck-leads

Sounds great! This is what I've been searching for!!

thx Jeppe Gelardi.. nice project!!
great track dude
Very high quality work.I more concerned about closed baseline sub base .Where can I find presets.Thsnks.
Great video
thanks for share your techniques, well done!
Great Video Gelardi.. just wondering how did u link up all the bassline in to ur BUS??
Hey man, thanks for great tutorial/Please view how to make eq your pad's.
Good bassline. You have very pure pads ;)
All sounds EQing and compress by FabFilter plugins??
Perfect mastering of project,do you have clean master??(I mean no eq,comp, limiter etc. ...)

Great video mate! You should've included how you set up the kick as well :)
If CPU is an issue - Bounce everything to Wav. file and create an arrangement project. Then create all your sounds across one or two projects then bounce it to wav and arrange it.
would be really awesome if you could make the presets and midi files of the bassline available.. thankyou
Great tune !! good trance style
I can't see a flanger or Chorus on your bassline do you use those effects on your basslines ?
Thank you, this is very helpful
Great tut mate, really hlping :D, i have a question Tho, At 13:32 i see a low cut on your bass but there is some Frequencies that get passed the eq from 0---50 hz, is that normal ?
Thanks for the tutorial! Learned a lot from it. Awesome song btw..is it released yet?
Yes it is released as The Blizzard & Daniel Van Sand Ft. Julie Thompson - Made For You (Gelardi Remix) on Armada Music :)
Why the fk was this marked as spam? -.-"

very useful video, thank you mate :)
Please make a tutorial on how you make your main leads :)
ArtsAcoustic reverb, and the sample pack is Siren by Black Octopus :)
Uplifting Trance is in 140 BPM!! but your music is awesome
Uplifting trance is mostly at 138, but can be anywhere between 134 and 140....I've been seeing more 138 tracks than anything recently for uplifting.
As I said earlier: "It all depends on the style of the bassline.. If I want to do a fatter type of bassline I don't use delay, if I make a more pacy, floaty bassline (Aly & Fila-like) then I use delay :)" I never use reverb on my basslines except when I play with farty ones / 2.0

thanks for tutorial.question.What are common techniques to do kick rolls and schuffles wich would not interfere with bass lines?
Ahh the delay on the master channel is for the fill right before climax where I automated it :)
It's all about choosing the right samples ;) I use Myloops samples a lot when it comes to percussion actually.. They had their Cosmos pack up for a free DL for some time and it's an absolute killer pack! :)
ty dude! Awesome tutorial :)
Do I have to add delay/reverb effects to my basslines?
And by the way thanks for a tutorial,it helps a lot :)
Super tutorial :)
Nice tutorial but 1 question though. Why is the sub bass 100% merged?
Great job on this tutorial.
Hey guys, new tutorial up!! :) th-cam.com/video/Ng3KWz1ERSU/w-d-xo.html
Oh yea, well I knew sort of what retrig does, but in general I just "play around with it" and experiment till I get the desired sound :)
i like it so good
That plugin TP Bassline - what difference does it make? I've tried it but havent heard a big difference...You said it's very important so trying to figure out why. Good work by the way man.
You definitely don't want to mono the high frequencies of your kick and sub bass. Just the low frequencies.
Awesome tutorial man!
Thanks man, really glad to hear that! :)
Did you make the kick yourself? If not, where'd you get it from, if so, how'd you make it?
exelent work :D
did you learn this all on your own? great track btw. grtz
Sounds good man :)
Can you turn up your mic about 6 more db in the future? Its a good tutorial in that it gives me some good ideas and expands my rolling bassline patch library. I was going to subscribe and then saw this is the only tutorial you had. Why not more? Do we need to buy you beer?
pc performance ? and desktop or laptop ?
great work
I like to make my own loops, but sometimes I also use some prefinished loops from sample packs :)
hey gelardi, do you have the .flp archive of the bassline please can you share?
or the presets of the lead bassline and the mid1 of massive?
Can you share your presets for Sylenth1 and Massive please.
you can make a video another trance bassline please
What is the relation between kick and sc kick in terms of placing sc kick so when breakdown appears then you would not want some strange bass wobble when not needed. Also what is a glue compression?
+wowerman Glue compression is used to blend/mix sounds together, It's mostly used on busses or groups, for example kick and bass.
i dont know much about sidechaining..but do you change the sound of your kicksample itself with the trick at 16:00 or just the sidechaineffect?
Very nice video! And what's your CPU?
Geraldi, do you have any sort of delay on you high and mid basslanes? Or are they completely dry?
Climax Bass is just the title I named it. It's just two Sylenth1 instances :)
That's dope. I just followed you on SoundCloud, and your song/remix is pretty good tho, some needs more mastering btw.
Just curious, do you put your work to InfraSonic record, or do they contact you for record labels after your first single, Deira?
There is only low rumble if the Synth's sound engine isn't absolutely precise. Serum has no rumble.
serum also eats up your cpu
Do you have this as one of your production templates for sale?
Mind saying which papers =] Great tutorials btw.
which synth did you used for the bassline
Thanks man!
I'm looking for some trancey female voices...similar to the ones in this track labelled "Vox" I think :) Any websites or download links would be brilliant.
Preferably free ones but if they are definitely worth it, I might be interested. Thanks in advance! :)
For anyone interested about what became of this project, check the description! :)
It's is one of Max Braiman's tutorials, but I basically show you everything about it anyways :)
Hey again... Sorry, but do you think you can give a link to the guy who showed you how to sidechain like that? x)
You can't define genre by BPM.. Even more Uplifting is definitely not just 140 bpm, it can be everything in between 135-140..
For all you guys who requested the FLP or a more in depth tutorial, this is for you! You can now get 'Gelardi Template Essentials Volume 1' on Freshly Squeezed Samples - Links in the description! :)
hi MR Gelardi . How can I earn this project
I realy need it
this music looks like moonsouls's music
Hi Gelardi... wat software did u use to record this video from ur computer?
