I'm sub'd to most of the known aviation personalities who produce content about aviation safety like Blancolirio, Dan Gryder, FlyWire, Air Safety Institute, etc. They provide valuable insight and mostly fact-based narratives about aviation incidents and crashes. But the reason I watch and have commented on several of your videos is that you seem to have this captivating uniqueness. Your choice of words, phrasing, and subsequent delivery has this raw and no-frills feel to it. You're very respectful of the people involved in the accidents you highlight, yet you don't sugarcoat anything. This is absolutely and unequivocally necessary to aviation because aviation is raw, it's direct, it's a no-frills kind of business. Aviation doesn't sugarcoat. It's terribly unforgiving of complacency and neglect. Learning from the mistakes of others is the wisest course. I think your videos help tremendously and the content, quality, and delivery is second to none.
In my opinion, even though I'm not a pilot, I say double ditto to every word in D G's comment. You are 100 percent easiest TH-cam aviation guy to give me the gist of the situation, and express your opinions of how to learn from others' mistakes. Great content and explanations - keep it up! 🙂
As a professional Pilot i second all of the above comment. It’s really interesting being able to relate to most of the smaller accidents and what led to the instead of the high profile/bigger one who most likely already got covered because of the media attention.
If i could write well and had watched this video 48 hours ago (english is my second language and im just watching this today) i would have written this exact same comment.
Dont change your narrative style! There are countless of air accident analysis channels out there, I am subscribed to only a select few (2-3 at most). Your spin on the accident analysis/investigation genre is unique and made me instantly subscribe! I would say stick to it and the channel will grow in due time. As a pilot myself I usually look for the most detailed/ accurate videos in this category but when i stumbled across your channel I found myself instantly hooked, your videos are an excellent watch and are highly educational whilst not being too long. Hence why I subscribed since I already have my “heavy analysis” channels that I watch regularly.

Don't change the narrative stuff too much! I think it's your strongest asset, and I believe it's what could help make your channel really successful. The way you tell stories is really engaging, and I don't think it matters that it's a "narrow niche," because it still has potential to appeal to a lot of people. I know you say you had complaints about it, but it's always the complainers who shout the loudest. The ones who are happy usually don't speak up. Lastly, I know you're frustrated by the rate that your channel is growing, but for a modern TH-cam channel, this is pretty good! In only four months you already have 100k+ views on a single video and many of them over 30k+ is a sign that you're doing something right. TH-cam's algorithm tends to promote things that fit the status quo, so it sometimes takes a while to break through and be noticed. I wish you the best of success, anyway!

Your narrative style is what sets this channel above all other aviation channels in my opinion. I subbed about a minute into the first video I watched. I can see how expanding the range of topics will appeal to larger audiences who may not care about the GA, but then again they can go to channels like Mentor Pilot for interpretations of final reports. I feel others who also pilots would agree that you offer great insight and advice and its more valuable on TH-cam than the pure investigation stuff as it falls into a niche style that I've yet to find in another channel!

As a lover of all of your videos, I would respectfully disagree with your assessment of your strengths and weaknesses. The Alaska videos aren’t getting low views because they are about Alaska. They are getting low views because the titles are not as captivating as the others. I’d also recommend to NOT tone down the noire narrative style. There are plenty of channels that sounds like a regular guy reading facts and details from an expert’s prospective. You are literally the only noire style accident analyst. I pushed the subscribe button within the first 2min of the video I mentioned earlier. I never do that. I usually watch tens of videos before I subscribe to someone. I love the narrative style you take. It's a unique style for explaining these accidents that I've never seen elsewhere on this site. It's informative enough for those who are aviation enthusiasts, and easy enough for those who aren't. It's important to remember that TH-cam success is not immediate and disproportional. Also that at the current size of your TH-cam channel, it's hard to properly make decisions based on video analytics. My advice would be to continue with what you do, exactly as you do it. The two big keys I've found to "blowing up" on TH-cam is 1) A good video formula, and 2) a backlog of videos following this formula. So when one video blows up, viewers will like that video enough to go to your channel and end up watching your entire backlog. Usually that means you gain a subscriber. My favorite example of this happening is with a channel called High Boi. He's been making videos with a very specific formula since mid-2019, but was getting disproportionately poorly represented by the algorithm. Up until mid-2021, he had only gained about 3,000 subscribers. Then, one of his videos was suddenly and randomly promoted by the algorithm. People saw the video and loved it. I was dying of laughter. Many of the viewers went to his channel and saw that he already had another two years of content in his backlog. In just *three weeks*, he gained *800,000* subscribers. He is now at over 2m subscribers and on his way to the top 1,000 TH-cam channels by subscriber count. Just keep up the good work and I bet that you'll see a similar thing happen at some point.
I love the Alaska videos, fwiw. I love all of them though just because of HOW you make the videos... the narration in particular... maybe this is the wrong term, but it sounds like a cross between sarcasm and deadpan. It's great.

I’m a subscriber and love your videos. Especially the kind about some low hour PPL pilot pushing his luck and flying into IMC for the last time. I also enjoyed your Alaska ones so it’s a shame to hear they didn’t do so well for you. You seem to have done your research on what you should/want to do with your channel. I wish you the best of luck with it. Keep doing Part 91/135 related crashes if you can.
My two cents 😄 1) I love the noir style, it's got a certain grit that says take aviation seriously. 2) I did watch the Alaskan videos however I did not feel they were too relevant to me as a pilot. What was the take away? Don't fly in crappy weather. 🙄 3) I do like learning and picking accidents that have a lesson for all pilots. For example, overshoots on landing are more common than undershoots so hitting the numbers is important. 4) I really like the accident with boggs resulting in ELTs. I just had to install a new ELT in my plane (motor glider) as it never had one. Accidents that result in a change in regulation is educational. 5) You can spice up the videos with more mixed-media: radar tracks, real ATC excerpts, and crash pictures. 6) consistency is key don't branch out too much as you will loose your audience, start a new channel if you want to do recreations. 7) Remember it's about entertainment first and education second.
Narrative style is unique.. best asset. Stay way from military… already has lots of channels. Ending your segment with the changes to systems, rules and processes adds interesting closure. It doesnt have to be the transponder / Alaska link…. Could be as simple as how we as pilots can follow better process to avoid issue.
i watch several aviation related channels and most of them cover accidents following the FAA final report which is obviosuly good, but they all follow an academic sort of flow to them which is nice for an aircraft systems nerd like myself. However when i found your channel, i instantly watched all of your videos and subscribed and turned on notifications which i hardly ever do. The way you tell the stories has a very engaging and unforgiving sound to it - such is life and death in aviation. The way you tell the stories is the greatest asset to this channel in my humble opinion, and it's certainly what sets you apart. I love it and I have faith this channel will grow. I guess it's just part of growth on an exponential basis. I'd love to see different content, but please, keep the format of your videos. I've found that of all the aviation videos i watch, the trend amongst the biggest channels who've seen success in the past couple of years, seems to be longer form videos between 20-40 minutes. Perhaps a long form video going in depth on a particular incident will help yur numbers! I know I, for one, often turn on a video and just listen to it while driving or at work. Something i dont have to go to my phone to change is just a small bonus Love the content!!

They are a story not just another crash investigation. I hope you can continue to make one now and then. I would appreciate it. Big crashes will always get alot more attention and views. I've really enjoyed your narrative spin and focusing on small events. You do what ya gotta do to make this worthwile and either way its nice to hear what you've got to say. Your work thus far has been good at covering well beyond the crash itself, and as an avgeek I find that part really interesting. It might not be received the same way by "main stream" viewers like what the algorithm would push your videos to, so its a balancing act in my opinion. Either way, keep em coming!
Keep the noir style! I was a neighborhood gathering last year that featured a cover band. I remember hearing Sitting On The Dock of the Bay, Country Roads, La Bamba, and Big Bad Leroy Brown consecutively. What are the odds? Actually not bad if you consider all of the musical talent that has been silenced due to aircraft crashes. Since TH-cam is all about the clicks, how about looking into mishaps and musicians? Popular music and sudden demise may get you a few clicks. If you decide to do this, the Buddy Holley/Richie Valens mishap has already been widely done.

I think it would be very cool to see some breakdowns of deliberate shootdowns like KAL 007 or MH17, would work very well with your Noir style in my opinion. Maybe DCS could help you with those in the future.
I've enjoyed your videos because they are stylistically different from many others, especially the narrative. Maybe branch into some larger aviation accidents or close calls with the same narrative.
I first want to start by saying I really enjoy your content. As far as high production TH-cam channels go my personal favorites are mentor pilot, and air safety institute in their accident investigation series. Both of those channels do a really good job of building up to the incident without telling you exactly what happened right away. I think what holds back the Alaska videos is that we all know where they're going, some flavor of VFR and IMC. What I think really brings views to a video is interesting circumstances even if they still lead to an unsurprising outcome. I do enjoy the topic of commercial aviation incidents that are not airline related like cargo, mail service, skydiving etc. The public never hears much about aviation incidents unless they land on a highway or take 100+ passengers with them.
I'll tell you this, the detective was really cool. I hadn't heard anything like it. It was refreshing to me at least. You can't please everybody of course. I think you should Branch out into all types of aviation, accidents that have more at stake for example. I don't think you should change stylistically at all, just Branch out

Your style is great, like others are saying it's unique amongst what is out there. Agree algorithms might be the problem. Other channels have taken a while to hit their stride so don't be put off by some of those armchair critics out there. Shame about Alaska as it's aviation situation is unique as well ,hence it's high incidence of accidents! I too am subscribed to the other well-known aviation channels and they all have their haters, rise above it like Dan Gryder. I absolutely love the style of narration, I think it’s what draws me to your channel so much more than others kind of analysis channels. I think the reason the Alaska ones didn’t do so well was the title. As hard as it is to say I didn’t watch them at first because the title didn’t sound as interesting. But no matter the title as soon as I click on a video of yours the absolute care you put into the narration never fails to captivate me
The videos you did on Alaska were missing a very important part of these accident videos - what do we learn from it. Your narration and script and style is very interesting but don't get trapped by it. I recommend you go over dinner of the already done videos by others.. And add more detail with your style and should be a hit. But there has to be a reason to watch for aviation buffs.. Which is what mistakes were made and what can we learn from it.

You seem to have done your research on what you should/want to do with your channel.

My two cents 😄 1) I love the noir style, it's got a certain grit that says take aviation seriously. 2) I did watch the Alaskan videos however I did not feel they were too relevant to me as a pilot. What was the take away? Don't fly in crappy weather. 🙄 3) I do like learning and picking accidents that have a lesson for all pilots. For example, overshoots on landing are more common than undershoots so hitting the numbers is important. 4) I really like the accident with boggs resulting in ELTs. I just had to install a new ELT in my plane (motor glider) as it never had one. Accidents that result in a change in regulation is educational. 5) You can spice up the videos with more mixed-media: radar tracks, real ATC excerpts, and crash pictures. 6) consistency is key don't branch out too much as you will loose your audience, start a new channel if you want to do recreations. 7) Remember it's about entertainment first and education second.
I enjoy all your videos, the Alaska ones are equally as excellent and entertaining, but I'll watch and like whatever you choose to produce!
Narrative style is unique.. best asset. Stay way from military… already has lots of channels. Ending your segment with the changes to systems, rules and processes adds interesting closure. It doesnt have to be the transponder / Alaska link…. Could be as simple as how we as pilots can follow better process to avoid issue.
i watch several aviation related channels and most of them cover accidents following the FAA final report which is obviosuly good, but they all follow an academic sort of flow to them which is nice for an aircraft systems nerd like myself. However when i found your channel, i instantly watched all of your videos and subscribed and turned on notifications which i hardly ever do. The way you tell the stories has a very engaging and unforgiving sound to it - such is life and death in aviation. The way you tell the stories is the greatest asset to this channel in my humble opinion, and it's certainly what sets you apart. I love it and I have faith this channel will grow. I guess it's just part of growth on an exponential basis.
I'd love to see different content, but please, keep the format of your videos. I've found that of all the aviation videos i watch, the trend amongst the biggest channels who've seen success in the past couple of years, seems to be longer form videos between 20-40 minutes. Perhaps a long form video going in depth on a particular incident will help yur numbers! I know I, for one, often turn on a video and just listen to it while driving or at work. Something i dont have to go to my phone to change is just a small bonus

I really like your Alaska videos. As an Alaskan aviator they are interesting and informative. Your narration is what makes your videos stand out. They are a story not just another crash investigation. I hope you can continue to make one now and then. I would appreciate it. For what it’s worth the name of your channel doesn’t match the videos you make. Maybe try something closer to your topic. Thanks for the time and effort you put into this endeavor. They really are great!

Big crashes will always get alot more attention and views. I've really enjoyed your narrative spin and focusing on small events. You do what ya gotta do to make this worthwile and either way its nice to hear what you've got to say. Your work thus far has been good at covering well beyond the crash itself, and as an avgeek I find that part really interesting. It might not be received the same way by "main stream" viewers like what the algorithm would push your videos to, so its a balancing act in my opinion. Either way, keep em coming!

Keep the noir style! I was a neighborhood gathering last year that featured a cover band. I remember hearing Sitting On The Dock of the Bay, Country Roads, La Bamba, and Big Bad Leroy Brown consecutively. What are the odds? Actually not bad if you consider all of the musical talent that has been silenced due to aircraft crashes. Since TH-cam is all about the clicks, how about looking into mishaps and musicians? Popular music and sudden demise may get you a few clicks. If you decide to do this, the Buddy Holley/Richie Valens mishap has already been widely done.

I first want to start by saying I really enjoy your content. As far as high production TH-cam channels go my personal favorites are mentor pilot, and air safety institute in their accident investigation series. Both of those channels do a really good job of building up to the incident without telling you exactly what happened right away. I think what holds back the Alaska videos is that we all know where they're going, some flavor of VFR and IMC. What I think really brings views to a video is interesting circumstances even if they still lead to an unsurprising outcome. I do enjoy the topic of commercial aviation incidents that are not airline related like cargo, mail service, skydiving etc. The public never hears much about aviation incidents unless they land on a highway or take 100+ passengers with them.

I'll tell you this, the detective was really cool. I hadn't heard anything like it. It was refreshing to me at least. You can't please everybody of course. I think you should Branch out into all types of aviation, accidents that have more at stake for example. I don't think you should change stylistically at all, just Branch out

Your style is great, like others are saying it's unique amongst what is out there. Agree algorithms might be the problem. Other channels have taken a while to hit their stride so don't be put off by some of those armchair critics out there.
Shame about Alaska as it's aviation situation is unique as well ,hence it's high incidence of accidents!
I too am subscribed to the other well-known aviation channels and they all have their haters, rise above it like Dan Gryder.

I absolutely love the style of narration, I think it’s what draws me to your channel so much more than others kind of analysis channels. I think the reason the Alaska ones didn’t do so well was the title. As hard as it is to say I didn’t watch them at first because the title didn’t sound as interesting. But no matter the title as soon as I click on a video of yours the absolute care you put into the narration never fails to captivate me

The videos you did on Alaska were missing a very important part of these accident videos - what do we learn from it. Your narration and script and style is very interesting but don't get trapped by it. I recommend you go over dinner of the already done videos by others.. And add more detail with your style and should be a hit. But there has to be a reason to watch for aviation buffs.. Which is what mistakes were made and what can we learn from it.

Everyone expects numerous accidents in Alaska. Like corn in Iowa. I've enjoyed every video you've done, especially the Cirrus fatal with the judge. Also downloaded your book on that accident; low time, new avionics, night IFR, get-there-itis- what could possibly go wrong?? Thanks for all the effort you put into this- excellent work.
