- Strictly Soulmates takes a fun, entertaining and emotional look at the real life trials and tribulations of a group of singletons trying to find their perfect match from four different religions: Evangelical Christian, Hindu, Muslim and Jewish.
This episode follows three young Hindu singletons on their journey to find 'the one' as they navigate their way through formal family introductions, Hindu speed-dating events and singles evenings.
At 28, Cardiff-born Hasmita is practically on the shelf. She is the last girl in the family to get married and the pressure is on. Even her local Hindu matchmakers say that if she waits any longer to find Mr Perfect, it is going to be too late. Luckily, after years of hunting, she is given the contact of a boy who, amazingly, ticks all of her long list of boxes. The problem is, he lives over 4,000 miles away in Dubai. Unbelievably, after a two-week trip there, she comes back engaged and she gets her fairytale ending in India after all.
Jalpa has always fallen for bad boys, but at 26 she has decided it is time to get serious and find a husband. For the first time ever, she takes the plunge and lets her mum and dad loose on her love life, allowing them to set her up on a few dates with some 'suitable' boys. Meanwhile, she cannot quite help keeping an eye open for someone herself and before long she is spending time with a guy who might not be exactly what mum and dad had in mind.
Coolly confident, Amardeep unleashes his charms on the Hindu dating scene only to discover it is a jungle out there and most of the girls he is lucky enough to talk to simply eat him for breakfast. Will he ever actually manage to pin a girl down for a date?

I am so happy for Hasmita! That took a lot of guts to go see him and he lived so far but I think it is amazing that he knew her Aunt that is a good sign.

A good word of advice to all women. It is never too late to get married! I don't care if your 40 years old, there is nothing wrong with that so stop counting down the clock.
Think about it this way, the more grounded you are in your career the more money you will make and be able to save for the future. If you get along with your parents then don't move out until your married. There is no reason to be spending all that money when you could be owning your own home by the time you get married.
Do not sit on your butt doing nothing, you need to meet people but you really do not have to date anyone unless you feel something strong with them.
Never settle for less then the best and what you truly want in a partner.

This was the best episode of the series (for me). My husband and I also 'dated' on Skype before meeting and getting married within months. I was 36 and he was 49 so we had also waited a long time for the right match. Now we've been married for over 5 years and we feel we are each others soulmate and one and only. This episode brought back so many memories

I'm not into anything hindi, but it was plain to see hasmita & Depeche would hit it off well. She had "eyes" for him from the beginning & he was shy, reserved & "safe" enough for her. They both were humble in demeanor and expectations it seems and as such, they conjoined whereas the (contrasting/critical) others did not. No wonder is it?

At least you are 50 and not with the wrong person. Find love in yourself first. I have a boyfriend but we are too broke to get married and have children at this moment. We are also in school. It just may not happen for us because I refuse to have children unless I am financially set and secure. My situation does make me a bit sad but it would be worse to be poor and unable to care for a child when I could give them the "world". And life is not only about marriage and children.

After watching this documentary there’s no doubt that people find hard to meet potential partners. There is a huge checklist that is impossible to tick off all the boxes. The girl at 13.45 said its a huge turn off that the boy doesn’t speak English properly and yet wants someone from her mum’s village. May I point out with all due respect that your mum struggles with English too and yet she is an an integral part of your life. Stop judging people so quickly. Its a very faulty way of thinking.

I'm thoroughly enjoying watching this one, I just watched the Muslim episode which was lovely though had a bit more of a 'strict' vibe to it. I know there is such a stigma around arranged marriages because of some bad experiences highlighted in the press but this goes to show that it can work as long as the right people are involved and have full support of loving families and there is love. from watching this as well as the Muslim episode, I get a complete family oriented impression which is so wonderful to see especially in Britain where as we all can easily see for ourselves, a lot of young men and women have no respect for themselves let alone others and the institute of marriage. I'm a white British female, of no particular religion (though christened am still searching for the right one for me), me and my sister were raised very strict (brother seemed to have no reigns?!) and when I met my future partner I had to introduce him to my parents and ask for their approval, my grandparents were the same with my mother and I will be just the same with my children. I think us Brits should take more influence from other cultures because clearly British culture is going to pits unless the newer generations are different

I wish the best for the married girl, she's such a sweet and humble person but this is not a realistic story, where are the grooms parents. The male is usually ultra dominated by his mother. I found the man of my dreams only to find out his mother is a domineering, racist who has a fraudulent business who wants to be the real partner of her son and only have him married for society because she doesn't let him live life as a man, she lives with him and calls him 20 times a day even at 4 AM! I had to leave him for no fault of his own except that he loves and respects his mother and she uses this to turn him into a slave! I really hope all the men shown on here are independent men worthy of having a wife, otherwise, it's a nightmare.
