- A unique build I have been theorycrafting for a while, here is a MELEE Spore Druid / Bard Build Guide in Baldur's Gate 3. This is a very powerful build because we are taking advantage of multiple things at each of these do well.
We are a martial class that uses wisdom for its attack rolls, we use our big bonk staff as a weapon, we can use light and medium armor, and attack with hand crossbows. You can use different types of gear for this build, as it is quite versatile. But you can also use the armor of agility if you want an increased armor class.

That's a combo I've never thought of lol. But pretty sure bard is awesome with anything my resist durge bardadin just killed kethric in one turn
Bard is a full spell caster and a great melee class so it honestly does go with everything hahaha. Bardadin is sweet I like Paladin 2 / Bard 10

hello i would suggest to multi class into warlock instead, less overlay spells in comparison to bard, pact weapon offers a bonus attack at level 5 instead of level 6 and you can stack more necrotic damage with hex.
Since this is more of a melee focused approach you do not need to focus much on your spell casting modifiers and can use the spore druid sub class to only boost your necrotic damage via symbiotic entity and armor of the sporekeeper unless you want to go for shillelagh.
Otherwise weapons like duellistst's prerogrative, blackguard longsword or sword of chaos become available depending on preference for late game. Furthermore I would also add the dark justiciar gauntlets to further stack necrotic damage or use astarion for this build since he also get 1d10 necrotic damage if he ascends... you could go 4 druid 8 warlock get 3 feats for example since the late spore druid levels do not offer much for this approach, or 2 spore 8 warlock 2 fighter for action surge for example.
The bard gets 4x attacks with the flourishes and you can attack the same target with a crossbow for the hex to trigger 4 times! The warlock is a good choice as well
@@JasonDunna the melee flourishes only hit twice if there are two enemies next to each other and are a resource, it is situational.
The ranged attack is a different story, however the warlock option would get access to eldritch blast which has its own benefits.
I tested this build idea yesterday and was hitting for ~80 damage per attack with a couple of buffs.

Ayyy im so glad you appreciate it my man!! This ended up being stronger than I thought it could be, but you have freedom to chose any weapon and it’ll work similar! I made the Staff of Necromancy viable as a melee weapon and it adds extra necrotic which is nice!

I feel like monk would have been an equally good pick. A lot of their features are quite helpful, and you do not lose much for wearing armor. The drop in spellcasting is sad, but the extra attacks they can gain I feel makes up for it.

This turned out to be way stronger than I thought! It’s pretty fun because you can flourish hit 4 enemies and get the extra necrotic damage on them. Also the band of the mystic scoundrel is great here for bonus action crowd control!
I would actually recommend barbarian instead of bard for a few reasons. 1: you only need a 5 lvl investment for extra attack which means you can have a slightly larger spore shield, and 2: if you go bear heart you can effectively double the size of your spore shield via resistance to most damage types. The only downside is you can't cast spells while raging so you gotta remember to cast shigly before rage. that said, none of the spore druid's class features count as spells so you could use them while raging
This was a requested video but I agree with you! Bear heart is so good. Especially if you have an army of zombies
Turns out there's a mod that makes shigly last until long rest like pact/bound weapon

Would war cleric be a good multiclass dip for this build?
War cleric is always a great multiclass dip! Getting 3 bonus action attacks for just a single level is amazing
You nerfed yourself you went from 15-28 to 12-27. I had the same problem it probaly uses charisma 17:26 for damage

Would 10 Spore Druid / 2 Fighter be viable? Skipping 3 Fighter and its subclass for all 10 levels of Spore’s subclass features. With Fighter first you’ll have Con saving and all melee weapon proficiencies.
Bard is nice and the utility is valuable but the 6 level investment prevents Spreading Spores.
Yes! That was actually one of the prototypes I was testing and I’ll probably make a video on it at some point because I love the spore Druid. The extra necrotic damage on attacks is nice.
This was a requested build and they wanted to focus more on melee so I went with sword bard to give them 4 attacks with the flourishes! It’s honestly quite good! This game is like a puzzle and it’s so satisfying putting pieces together for a good build
@@JasonDunna Yeah you have a point there. The game rewards players for dipping 1 level in each of the 12 classes . So if it’s possible to beat the game that way, virtually any build can work. And doing things differently helps show off even more endless possibilities instead of doing the norm. I like how the game pretty much lets the player fine tune their build to suit specific needs.

It’s funny because everytime I pronounce it that way people complain I’m wrong 😂 I now try to say all three popular pronunciations because of it. I’m part Irish myself!
