Thank you, the video was very helpful. I did my wife's Explorer yesterday. Cranking that piston back in is the hardest part of the job. Trying to hold the caliper in one hand and cranking the tool with the other is difficult, especially at the start. I miss the old days when a C-Clamp was all you needed.
Agree! I have everything apart and now I have an Explorer up on jacks for two days waiting for the caliper piston compressor tool. Wish I would have watched this video before doing this myself.
I can't find any mention about taking up the slack in the emergency brake. I assume with no mention, that you just actuate it until it adjusts up and takes the slack out of the pads & rotor. Maybe it doesn't need to be adjusted once the calipers have been actuated hydraulically?

Gotta make it so you cant work on your own car,
You buy the brakes at O'Reilly you can rent one for free and get your money back for the deposit when you take it back.
This was very comprehensive. The details felt very complete but not overextended with too many words.

where can i get that special tool?
AutoZone rents them for refundable $60 deposit.
Amazon sell the kit.
Great video thanks
Do you recomend to change thr shims.
they almost always come with the brake pads. so it won't hurt to replace them.
Do you recommend to change the rotors everytime the pads are changed or every other time?
