    Great to see you using the 5th wheel. It is the best thing we bought. We have been to Cornwall and had no problems at all towing, certainly easier than our last standard caravan. Presently in Suffolk for the 3rd time this year. Thanks for all your advice and help.

    Great to see a real life use of the 5th wheel, especially the hard bit which is getting it from point A to point B, looking forward to seeing the rest of the series, many thanks

    I came across your channel only in the last couple of days and have been watching many videos and reading some of the comments. One comment that was written was highly critical of these trailers and made it abundantly clear that they preferred towing in the 'traditional' sense. However, as someone who grew up on a farm and learnt to drive towing a hay trailer with a tractor, I understand that whilst not a fifth-wheel connection, an agricultural tractor behaves very similarly to a fifth-wheel when towing. Take a look at the tow hitch on a tractor and it can easily be seen that it is between the rear wheels and as close to the axle as possible. There is obviously a higher nose-weight advantage but there is also the manoeuvrability factor. This is where fifth-wheel trailers win hands down over the typical trailer. Every vehicle has its hinderance and the most obvious hinderance of an American RV trailer is its height. The same applies to caravans, although they are designed for the environment in which they operate and are therefore less of a hinderance (i.e. can pass under more bridges than an RV). Careful route planning and using a lorry based navigation app or sat-nav can easily mitigate that. Unfortunately for me however, they are not an option as I am in Japan and the towing regulations are far, far stricter here and owning a pickup means far higher running costs in terms of MOT, motorway tolls and the like. That is why there are only two pickups available on the Japanese market. The Toyota Hilux and the Jeep Gladiator, although I am yet to see a Jeep Gladiator and suspect that their shelf-life will not be long before they are withdrawn as they are very long in length and therefore difficult to register and to park. (FYI: All vehicles except some 'kei' cars in municipalities with a population less than 100,000 and not within 30km of Tokyo or Osaka, must have a police approved parking space within 2 kilometres of the registered domicile of the owner. This applies to trailers too. Any trailer.).

      Thanks Andrew you can’t please everybody but they sell thousands of these units in America and as you say if you use a lorry satnav you really can’t go wrong. We sell more to people living full time in them now this reflects the current market in the UK cost of housing is too expensive for the average guy. Enjoy Japan. Keep in touch if you ever get this way pop in. Regards, Paul

    What is the weight of the caravan? As far as im aware the max towing capacity on a ranger is 3500kg so does that mean you can tow it on a B+E licence?

    • @CCRVUK
      @CCRVUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Andrew, 3.5 ton towing capacity is from the towbar. You could also put some weight in the back with a fifth wheel 20% of the weight is in the back so it’s hooked up like a Artic lorry it’s all about the train weight which is six ton normally we can up rate the truck to 7 ton you really need a C1 plus E license If you buy a lighter 5th Wheel and keep it under five ton. I think you’re okay with a B plus e thanks for subscribing to the channel and taking the interest in 5th Wheels. If you wanna come up and see us give me a call to make an appointment. All the best, Paul

      @CCRVUK Thak you for the reply Paul, I've been looking at 5th wheel caravans for a while now but there is not much info on them regarding the laws and licence needed, on a b+e licence the max train weight is 7000kg from what it says on the gov website so if some of the weight is on the 5th wheel instead of the tow bar you can pull a heavier caravan as long as the train weight don't exceed the the vehicle/gov max is that correct?

    I’d like to ask you if you feel safe pulling that with a ranger? I am a class on driver but have no experience with caravans. Also. What license do you need for this set up because I’d like my wife to have a go. Thanks.

      @CCRVUK  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, as long as you’ve got a C1 plus E driving license that usually is passed your test before 1997. You’re good to go. The range pulls them easily. Obviously you need the right combination. Some people do get lost in the size of them, so as long as the rig is Coupled up correctly, there is absolutely no problem towing a 5th Wheels as long as you don’t exceed the train weight of the truck Please make an appointment to come and see us. Regards Paul

    Hi Paul, as Avril did the "blue" or outside job of filling the truck with diesel will you cook the dinner? Glad you are using your own product, I suspect you are the only couple doing that. Enjoy yourselves and thanks for letting us see some of your lifestyle. Bob
