Señor iam not mechanic, iam jeweler but tetired,I thiner the 10 mm socket and wrench with the grinder don't need to move the alternator, move the tap bolt first then push the valve up then you can see the lower bolt.Easy good luck.

I watched the entire video even though you spent a lot of time ratcheting the bolts. At the end you didn't show the belt going back on, (a relief). But at the end you didn't say if that cleared the po420 code which is why I was watching. I have the 420 code but I know the EGR has a bad gasket from changing my alternator and I was hoping replacing that would fix the 420 code.

I appreciate you watching the entire video I know a lot of times it’s repetitious. Don’t edit that much like to show as much as I can. Po420. I would really be leaning toward a bad catalyst converter

@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair So the car you worked on had two separate problems? I don't want that to be the problem. I hoped fixing the EGR valve would solve the problem. I was quoted 1800 for the part alone

I had egr code 404 and code 406. I changed egr valve and now have 406? Should I change map sensor?

I am sort of stuck, ordered map sensor, will see if that does anything. I am wondering if my new egr valve is faulty? I looked at wiring and dont see anything. Will let you know after map install etc@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair

Finally problem solved! It was a bad 'NEW' egr valve from rockauto! I did put in new map sensor and no change. I finally decided to remove NEW egr and replace with CLEANED old egr that I had taken out. This worked and now no engine light !!! I sort of suspected the 'new' egr when it came in a smashed box etc. I bet it was a prior return! Disappointed bigly in rockauto! Two weeks of hassle.... thanks...

You think a PO420 ever be one of the oxygen sensors? I have PO420 code catylyst inefficiency. The EGR valve replace twice on this 2006 dodge grand caravan last time a year ago, the upstream oxygen sensor and the catylatic converter changed about year half ago, downstream oxygen sensor I never changed, any chance it be downstream oxygen sensor. This van had trigger egr valve fault couple times before is why i had change EGR valve twice already.

Oxygen sensors can be a possibility. For a PO 420 but what can cause this to go bad quickly is issues in most cases of over fueling issues or misfires

@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair The car seems to run fine, the check engine light went off and came back on again. Maybe something is barely triggering it? I been driving that dodge grand caravan 2006 with no reverse in the transmission it went out about 30 thousand miles ago all the forward gears work fine. I haven't had many issues except EGR code going off couple times and now this P420 code.

Hey I have the same codes on my 2008 dodge caravan mechanic told me I needed to change the whole catylic converter do that sound about right ? had new egr valve but told me it would be pointless to replace
