Just a hint for those interested in the A7CII who would like the grip extension, SmallRig makes one for these bodies. My experience with Smallrig has been very positive. Perfect fit and very well thought out. Their extension is only $29 US compared to the Sony grip at $135.

Wish they made one with a bit of an extension to the actual grip + bottom plate. Tilta also makes a half cage that looks pretty cool. Put an order in for that

i bought smallrig 3212 for my a7c gen 1 they probably will create one for a7cII. The 3212 has the handle extension which makes it equal to the best grip but it adds 192g (gen2 model) mine is the gen1 heavier at 210g. It seems lightweight but you have suddenly an a1 weight. Not a compact a7c..
So recently i removed it. I also have a gimbal now so it is not practical except if i would buy a new arca swiss plate for m gimbal. But it is already so heavy, i don’t want to add an additional 210g.
They also added more space for hot shoe to fit the latest mic from Sony n the gen2. Hopefully, my big flash 60rm2 was fitting well. I would have been pissed off. But at the end i regret buying this smallrig. It is ok if you have no gimbal. It is better to accept the a7c camera as they are and find a way to handle it the best we can. I feel better with my lightweight a7c and my telephoto lenses, it is so lightweight. It is better.

First thank you for the video. I’m actually evaluating both of these cameras and have them in hand but I previously owned the A7IV and currently own the A7RV so I’m familiar with the sensors. Key question I’m trying to answer is the A7C II better in low light? I plan to use the camera for travel and cropability favors the A7CR but I think lower noise and possibly better dynamic may favor the A7C II. Curious what you think.

I am happy with a pair of second hand Sony A7c bodies along with an even older A7s (for low light). I don't do much video...just a lot of street etc here in Bangkok. Cheers

Thanks this was really helpful. Sorry i couldn’t quite grasp, does the A7CR enforce a crop at 30 frames 4k? Thanks!

Bonjour j'ai une question atomos sort la mise a jour raw sur a7c R mais en 3.8k c'est plus 4k ou plus 3k en terme de résolution ça change quelque chose ?

I would add that both have a min shutter speed of only 1/4000 even with electronic shutter. The buffer depth is not good, particularly on the R. For video you can shoot @24 and @60 in crop mode As far as I know.
I am exploring moving from Fuji X-T3 to one of these. The R has a great advantage for me who has no lenses right now. I can shoot full frame (and if file size is a problem shoot in medium raw (26MB per shot), or cropped... And Only get a 24mm 1.4GM and I cover both street and wide portrait.

The A7CR can do 1/8000 with the electronic shutter
