- A brutal home invasion shook a dusty border town in Southern Arizona late one summer night in 2009. Three supposed US Border Patrol agents fatally shot a father and his 9-year-old daughter. As it turned out, the double homicide was masterminded by prominent-Minutemen-leader, Shawna Forde. The reason it happened was because Texas declared independence from Mexico and then petitioned the US for help in their independence war. The US helped and won the war for them, integrating Texas into the US as a state. And then for good measure taking a huge chunk of land off of Mexico in the peace deal.

She is forced into a cell, does not mean she has to go to bed, and on weekends they can stay in the dayrooms until midnight... Used to work corrections so I know.
@@conexn if that's true, which I doubt it. Texas is the only DOC that lets inmates wander around til midnight. Lights out at midnight I can see, but sitting in the dayroom in a Max is highly unlikely.

Holy shit, Arivaca... Man I have some stories about this small town. When I was 15 I was forced to stay at an Arivaca Boys Ranch summer of 2010. The first day I got there I was coming down from crystal and opiates and was madly in love with a girl so I knew I would immediately escape. I started talking to people quickly and by dinner time I had 3 other kids that would run away with me and 1 kid to distract the security. I learned that Mexico was right behind the mountains and Tuscon was the closest city about 50 miles away. No one had ever successfully escaped and didn't end up back at the ranch. As the sun started to set we prepared by dressing up heavily and stuffing snacks and water into our jackets. We stealthily walked out of our rooms and walked right off the property through the back near some horse stalls. After about 10 minutes we see 2 of the security/workers walking our way, once they saw us they started running and we all bolted. I'm very fast and within minutes of non stop sprinting I was all alone in the Arizona desert. The houses and ranches in this part of Arivaca are few and far in between. The roads all had the 3 line barbwire along side of them and every once in awhile a car would drive by, making me go between the wire whenever I was walking on the road. Most of the cars were border patrol and I'm sure the others was the ranch looking for me. At one point a car was getting close and I ran and hid in bushes by a small trailer home. The car drives by, but the door of the trailer opens and I hear an older man shout. Shortly after that he fired a shotgun into the sky (I think it was too the sky) and my heart dropped as I became completely frozen. After laying still for what may have been 15-20 minutes I slowly move out of the bush and start running back into the open desert. I continue to walk and eventually stumble upon a small house playing Mexican music that I could hear. I figured that since I'm part Hispanic and look Mexican they would help me out. I walk up to their door and knock, a little girl answered and called for her mom. The mom was the cook at the ranch! Her name was Conchita, such a sweet lady, but I immediately ran as soon as I saw her. I needed to figure out what to do, I couldn't just walk around aimlessly all night. I can see a couple street lights and lights from homes in the distance, it was an area with the highest concentration of people in Arivaca, but it was about 5 miles away. I decide to head to the orange street light I saw in the distance, constantly ducking through barbwire, cutting myself on the wire, hearing rattlesnakes, filling up my canteen with hoses from the random trailers I would stumble upon, and the whole time sweating out all of the drugs I was using up until that day. My adrenaline was pumping for hours and turned a horrible situation into an adventure. It's late at night now and I left around 7pm, I had been alone in the desert for hours, and I was getting close to that streetlight. There were more trailer homes in this area and I was exhausted with no water so I started going up to doors again. The first one was an older white man with a Hispanic looking wife. I don't remember what I said, just him saying that he was going to call border patrol so I ran off. Luckily the next trailer I tried was home to the nicest people in the whole town. An old white man opens the door and I tell him that I was headed to Tuscon, but needed water and food. His wife walks up behind him and they let me in. They were very kind to me, didn't really ask questions, and gave me a ham sandwich, gatorade, water, and cigarettes. He told me I could sleep in their little RV out back. I was so surprised to find such hospitality here. We start talking and he tells me about this family that was crossing that he saved and helped out. One night he heard the cries of a little girl and went outside to see what was going on. It was a family and the young daughter had broken her foot. He invited them all into his home, fed them, and let them stay for a few days until they were able to make the journey out. In Arivaca there is only one road out with a border checkpoint, so you must walk for many miles until you can get picked up. Hearing this story really touched my heart and I end up telling him the truth, he said that the family still calls him every now and then to update him on how they're doing. I decided to tell him the truth that it was my first day at the boys ranch and I ran away, he just laughed and we kept smoking. He lets me use his phone and I call my girl and my aunty. My aunty was very cool and always helped me out, but she couldn't risk driving to Arizona and get arrested for picking me up at the checkpoint. So, with my one option for a ride gone I end up falling asleep and calling the ranch in the morning. I write down the old mans number so I could keep in contact with him. The security pick me up and tell me that they thought I might have been dead because they heard the shotgun go off in the area I ran away from. It was fucking crazy and it was fun writing this all down and remembering that night. Arivaca is a strange place.

Yea definitely good story.....I had smthin like that happen to me where I was in a car wreck n was underage drinking...I was a passenger but was afraid to go back to jail..neways we got in a wreck out in the middle of noooowhere.....it was just field after field of corn stalks and corn rows(I live in Wisconsin) and even I live in the city we were going to a party...well yea we wrecked and I ran...ran....and ran...I got in the wreck at about 1030pm......it was pitch black out but I saw a light faaar away but just headed to it....I kept running into barbed wire every other field...cutting my hands Soo many times.....and passing out every now n then due to the concussion I had(thank God I woke back up every time)...but I musta ran Bout 10 miles before I made it.....finally did around 330 am and i made it to a bar that was having a wedding reception of all things...used the pay phone to call my parents don't remember what I said but I woke up to my mom screaming from fright bcuz o how fucked up I looked.....I had a dislocated shoulder n jaw n didn't even know it from the shock I was in.......crazy....I mention the story cuz of " the light I also saw and just being alone in the dark"......ur story brought back the memory of my story.......so thanks again...reminds me to be careful nowadays.......

I personally think we should decriminalize drugs and treat it as a health issue when needed. Most of the drug laws that were first passed were because of racial reasons in the early 1900’s. Pot was made illegal in the 1930’s because it was smoked for pain and relaxation by black and Spanish migrant workers and there was a belief that it would be given to white women and lead to interracial sex. Also there was the fear that jazz musicians that were black and smoked pot would use it on white women leading to race mixing.There was also the belief it made them bulletproof and super strong. Watch the old movie reefer madness.
We need to look at the war on drugs and see where it’s gotten us. Much like when we made alcohol illegal it’s led to more crime. I also think Mexico should decriminalize their laws. It would give the cartels less power and help stop the drug wars destroying their country. If the death and violence went down they wouldn’t be fleeing their homeland into the United States for safety.

I usually am, but in a few select cases like this one, where someone commits a heinous monstrosity like this, I find myself being okay with it. This is very graphic, but the crime scene photos showed that sweet girl on the couch in her pajamas, with part of her head missing because they shot her at point blank range. lois watt Damn. And I love that movie. Not even trying to be funny because this is a serious documentary on a serious subject, but I have to admit my ignorance. I guess I was just thinking that was a great movie because I love history. And I knew they would change some things to make it more dramatic or entertaining, but I didn't know it was that far off. I read it was impossible for William Wallace to have a relationship with the princess. I think I read there where some other inaccuracies as far as Robert the Bruce, but was the movie so inaccurate as a whole to be where it has to be considered purely entertainment, and not a historical film? Just asking.

Yep. People don't understand how HUGE this country is. One of our states is the same size as an entire European country. People from Utah are not the same as people from New York. We could go our entire lives and never pass within 1,000 miles of each other. Washington DC is a like ... mythical. Most of us have never been there. Most Americans have never spoken to a Senator or Representative. It's not real to us. I''m in a suburb in Salt Lake County, Utah. Washington DC is 2,000 miles away. I literally do not care what Joe Biden has to say. He's not from Utah. He also lives and works 2,000 miles away from Utah.
I know it's easy to get jaded with big numbers, but think about it. You can drive across all of England in a few hours. It takes me several hours of driving at highway speed, just to get out of Utah.
