To turn up and run bare foot when she was much younger then the rest of the field shows you she was a special talent..I think Adidas should step in here and use there power to put things right or at least start making positive changes..Sad Story ❤

In the U.S., a family would be able to sue the "alleged" murderer in civil court and receive monetary award. That way, the "husband" would not be able to use Agnes' money for his defense. Does Kenya not have the same type of civil law?

Addidas and other top sports brands are not obligated or concerned about athletes' personal life but I think they're in the best placed to have a positive impact and can prevent such incidences
As a Nigerian and full blooded African, my heart is completely broken at this documentary. It hurts me even more when I heard the dad saying " the family wants the case in court closed, since it has taken up to 2 years and they have run out of resources." Seriously? So Kenyan government, Adidas, and of course, Agnes Angels left the family to fund the case or what? With all the athletes involved in Agnes Angels, I would have expected they make individual donations, and or also open a fund me accounts to raise funds for the prosecution of Ibrahim, the suspect. The parents lamenting the suspect uses the victim's money to sponsor a possible manipulation of the court proceedings bleeds my innermost soul.😭😭😭 What's ADIDAS doing about it? If Adidas did not notice her ordeal while still alive and of course, couldn't help her, what are they doing now that it is obvious she has been ultimately victimized? Can't adidas invest enough conspicuous interest to ensure the full justice is served to the monstrous Ibrahim? Certainly, the innocent poor Agness Jejet Tirop may not get the justice she deserves.😭😭😭😭 What a horrible world! 😭😭😭😭
her smile was so wide, bright and infectious....... F*** any men out there who prey on women thinking they are weak and taking advantage of their unrelenting love for us........ coming from a man and strong survivor of persistent exposure to constant domestic violence as a child
I’m sorry I do not believe the agent. Running was Agnes’s bread and butter. She would have listened to her manager and would not jeopardise her income. RIP Agnes Tirop
It is so sad and tragic. I live in South Africa and I know how little a women's life is worth in Africa. Women of Africa must stand up against their Governments and hold them accountable for shoddy legislation protecting killers. Here in SA, 'blade runner' Oscar Pistorius is about to go on parole after serving only half of his 13 years jail sentence for killing his girlfriend
Any woman who has been the victim of this brand of human rights violation knows how disappointing, frustrating and costly it is to heal and how rare it is to obtain anything close to “justice”. The world (because this happens in every type of area you can imagine) would rather make this a what-about-[insert other group] debate than actually seek and facilitate equity. I pray that women of color find peace and strength…period.
Sad story, a life taken because of a jealous man - and he’s not being held accountable to the highest extent as he should. I am a little confused as to what the company is supposed to do for domestic violent victims. Even as women in America, if a woman is getting beat at home, the company doesn’t step in (from my knowledge). If anything, the men from family, church, close social groups should have put hands and feet on that man for taking advantage of his wife.
Money, unfortunately. The courts are corrupt too. They'll drag peoceedings and take bribes. Absolutely no reason he should be able to use Agnes's assets as his own.
This is such a sad story may she continue resting in peace. As someone who works with victims of family and domestic violence, one this is certain.. all perpetrators are the same. Doesn't matter what race, age, rich, poor, educated or uneducated.. They are all driven by power and control. Its disgusting that he is out on bail to continue misusing her hard earned money while she lays buried. Her life was worthy of protection.
A tremendous loss to the world of sports. So, so sad. If only she had not gone back to that loser 😢😢😢 In life she was great but even greater in death. To see the women rise up to counteract violence against women in response to her death is powerful. Long live Tirop's Angels!!
Until y'all African parents stop brain washing your daughters into believing marriage is an accomplishment and pressuring them to marry, more of your them would end up like Agnes Such a talented and beautiful soul, loss for what?? RIP.
The manager said there was no indication she was in danger.. really? Everybody knew he attacked her and she needed to go to Italy to recovery. But as usual, it’s not easy to talk after, it is easy for them to wash their hands after a woman is dead and go figure if it is true Agnes told him what he said. He probably wants to wash his guilt. 🤬
I am so sorry that this incredible talented woman died. However, like many victims of domestic violence (the UK included), these relationships are complicated emotionally. Don't forget that a friend of Agnes' husband "persuaded" her to leave the camp to return to her matrimonial home. Who could have stopped her from returning?? Should she have been forcibly detained by her Manager? The police and social services in the UK could not prevent a lot of such abuse and this is in the so called Western enlightened Country! The steps that the Kenyan female athletes are taking to empower women in their community, are the only real productive outcome in this documentary.
@@healingandgrowth-infp4677 I challenge to to get some education in the area of gender based violence, family violence and coercive control….. you statement though brief is very telling.
The age difference between the late Tirop and her husband tells it all the man must have had another family somewhere and he was only digging for gold in the name of love. When Tirop started noticing his mission she had to die because she couldn't be left to continue winning the races, and the dollars and her benefactor to go empty handed. This is very sad.
Too sad. Just as Agnes was making major waves on the track. She was one of my favourite athletes. Its shocking how many times she reported the violence with no measures taken to help her. Surely justice must prevail.

It's a cold world out there for a black woman, but it's even colder because our communities don't care to protect us.
There’s one in Cameroon who just died last week beaten to death by her husband while there were bystanders
In Namibia they say if your man doesn't beat you, it means he doesn't care about you. They say it means he isn't emotionally invested enough to give a toss if he never beats you. That is black male culture for you
@@lynnd.5135 This is a global problem. Its a male problem as most cultures promote the comfort of men over the safety of women. Besides, Namibia is not all of the Black people. You guys need to stop generalizing like we are a monolith.

This is so sad. A man who is supposed to love and protect you, not abuse you then murder's you. They want to control your money and your life. These men are just weak and callous. He should spend the rest of his life in prison. Condolences to her family and friends. May her soul Rest in Peace□
Not in prison eating tax money. But prison without food and no water!
@@Flower-ck2bs I concur.
He never loved her. He loved her money exploiting her talent unfortunately.
So important to inform women and educate your daughters about these type of men and to leave with any signs of red flags even if you love him, a broken heart can be healed, there are better men out there. But way too many men are evil, lazy and there to use you, economically or sexually, a man like that doesn't love you, he doesn't even know what love is, they literally walk over corpses if it in some way benefits them.
We honestly need to leave this "men are protectors" garbage in the past. It wasn't true before, and it isn't true now. Men are the biggest threat. I have and do feel WAY more protected and safe with women than I've ever felt with a man.
Having gone to school in Iten. This really breaks my Heart. Thanks to Tirop Angles for what they are doing. They have potentially saved other lives.
What an incredibly well presented look at the devastation of this kind of violence. Female athletes empowering themselves in Agnes's name gives me hope, Tirop's Angels…indeed! Condolences to all who loved this incredibly talented and beautiful world record athlete! Thank you for sharing this.
Sad loss to one of our upcoming bright star. The documentary has shown light to what our women go through under predators. Thanks Tirop Angels for changing lives and carrying the legacy of Our Star Agness Tirop ❤
What a tragic loss. She had a whole life and more wins ahead of her, but evil decided to end her life. How could the husband be granted bail when he was caught intially he was planning of escaping the country? I pray justice will be served and her family will have some kind of closure.
Did you forget? It’s Kenya.
Here after hearing about Rebecca Cheptegei 💔 I hope they are somewhere in paradise running together freely
Great doc, thank you for raising the issue of gender-based violence.
Women all around the world face violence perpetrated by the men who claim to love them. Rich, poor, young, old, white, Black, brown, athletes, disabled--no woman is immune. Sisters, we deserve better.
RIP, Agnes. I'm sure she's proud of the important work being done in her name.
Men all over the world are also treated with violence from women.
Or maybe it's not a gender issue and just terrible people being terrible? Do you say the same thing when women do terrible things?
@@Bash70Men aren't killed by women at the rates women are killed by men. In fact men are predominantly killed by other men which makes fighting gender based violence just as important for those wanting to help men.
@@schmemmm Your argument is no different than when conservatives use black-on-black crime to deflect from police brutality. Maybe stick to the larger issue of violence than always reducing things down to divisive identity rhetoric
@@Bash70 This is a video honoring the lives of women, some of whom lost their lives to violent men in IPV and DV situations.
Here now after the tragic and violent death of Rebecca Cheptegei. Breaks my heart to no end.
She had class, elegance, beauty, and a champion runner.
Bail should never have been given. Such a senseless and selfish act, may she rest in peace. This athlete and her colleagues are changing lives and paving the way for a better world. If only one side suffers and bears all the burden, even though none is required, then the other side if they have low character, will never bother to change. Full Accountability and justice is required.

Keep running... You can run much lighter, longer, and higher without shoes now.

Thank you for sharing Agnes story. It's sad we lost another young heroine in GBV.
I was devastated upon learning of the tragic death of Agnes Tirop. She was a great athlete. May her soul rest in peace.
The agent is sadly right, -when someone is deep in a toxic DV, they can be very defensive of their abuser. Eventually they see the light, but by then its too late, they've suffered heavy trauma or lost their lives.
The report said she asked for help of her family and her manager.
@@AmateurAthleteAllDayI think you don’t understand the complexity of coercive control…….she left the camp to go back to him. Sadly that is common.
To turn up and run bare foot when she was much younger then the rest of the field shows you she was a special talent..I think Adidas should step in here and use there power to put things right or at least start making positive changes..Sad Story ❤
Exactly. Adidas should have definitely stepped in.
@@issafulaI agree. They must have a lot of influence in developing countries.
He was granted bail? Seriously??? Women have really suffered 😭 the fact that he killed the lady and the case is taking too long says a lot. He’s used her money to bribe his way out. Trust African police at your own risk. I’m just so angry now.
EXACTLY 😢
Sad
I suppose it’s African men, defending and supporting other African men.
May Agnes’s soul rest in peace and her family be comforted. Thanks to the Tripod’s Angel for being the voice to the voiceless!
No Agnes should haunt him till he breaths his last. She shouldn’t let him have it easy after taking her precious life for granted.
In the U.S., a family would be able to sue the "alleged" murderer in civil court and receive monetary award. That way, the "husband" would not be able to use Agnes' money for his defense. Does Kenya not have the same type of civil law?
Unfortunately, that nation doesn't.
I am sure it does, law is law everywhere in the world. The only problem is that in Africa, women dont mean much. There would be a lot of loopholes and favouritism towards MALE CHAUVINISM
Came here after Rebecca Cheptegei. When will the world wake up and protect these women.
Crazy that another one in the same country just happened.
Lack of education and obstinate cultural ideals will always be the arbiter to continued gender-based violence. Thank you so much for covering Agnes's story, Bloomberg. Just had it come across my recommended page. This is my first time hearing about Agnes's story. Absolutely hurt hearing her friends and family talk about losing her. Feels like losing your own distant sister. A beautiful and talented woman's life unfairly cut short due to entitled jealousy smh. It should not be the portion of any woman. May Agnes's legacy live on. Eternal champion. 💛
Love to Damaris and all other victims as well. May the system change and wishing all the continued success of the impact of Tirop's Angels.
Great job Tirop's Angels!!!! I found out about my rights through posters on walls and videos from people like you that I didnt deserve the abuse I was getting. If it wasnt for people like you educating others on their human rights a lot more would suffer.
I am crying watching this.Thank you for honoring Agnes’s life.
Thank you for the brilliant documentary. Respect! RIP Agnes
This is so heartbreaking. Let's be careful ladies and never shy away from standing up for our rights and never accept anything less than what we deserve! Rest in peace Agnes and Damaris.
This is so informative, educational and informative documentary. I personally come from the athletic region kaptagat and what you have shared its very true, hope it becomes an eye opener and relevant authorities will take charge. Billion thanks for Tirop Angels for the incredible work they are doing. I'm praying that Justice will be served one day
Addidas and other top sports brands are not obligated or concerned about athletes' personal life but I think they're in the best placed to have a positive impact and can prevent such incidences

As a Nigerian and full blooded African, my heart is completely broken at this documentary.
It hurts me even more when I heard the dad saying " the family wants the case in court closed, since it has taken up to 2 years and they have run out of resources."
Seriously?
So Kenyan government, Adidas, and of course, Agnes Angels left the family to fund the case or what?
With all the athletes involved in Agnes Angels, I would have expected they make individual donations, and or also open a fund me accounts to raise funds for the prosecution of Ibrahim, the suspect.
The parents lamenting the suspect uses the victim's money to sponsor a possible manipulation of the court proceedings bleeds my innermost soul.😭😭😭
What's ADIDAS doing about it?
If Adidas did not notice her ordeal while still alive and of course, couldn't help her, what are they doing now that it is obvious she has been ultimately victimized?
Can't adidas invest enough conspicuous interest to ensure the full justice is served to the monstrous Ibrahim?
Certainly, the innocent poor Agness Jejet Tirop may not get the justice she deserves.😭😭😭😭
What a horrible world! 😭😭😭😭
So heartbreaking 😭😭😭
her smile was so wide, bright and infectious....... F*** any men out there who prey on women thinking they are weak and taking advantage of their unrelenting love for us........ coming from a man and strong survivor of persistent exposure to constant domestic violence as a child
She was Stunningly Beautiful and has such a Wonderful Family. RIP Beloved Agnes. 🤧🙏🏽🤎 ✝️
This kid was too young to be married to such an old man, double her age, and it was done secretly. This was quite devastating 😭😭
I’m sorry I do not believe the agent. Running was Agnes’s bread and butter. She would have listened to her manager and would not jeopardise her income. RIP Agnes Tirop
A difficult but beautifully done documentary. I wept for the brother and the rest of her family. May justice come through
Why is everyone blaming her manager and it's clearly her boyfriend who finished her and her country that never gave her justice ?
As a Kenyan, this is really disturbing.
Agnes Tirop: Always a champion🏆
This is so sad because Rebecca Cheptegei was also killed due to gender based violence.
Thank you so much for reporting on this. Beautifully done.
Why would he be granted bail with all that overwhelming evidence.
People can say whatever but men are threatened by the success of their women.
Very true!
Sorry to say that I didn't know her name. And I'm sorry to learn of her this way 😔
Until y'all African parents stop brain washing your daughters into believing marriage is an accomplishment and pressuring them to marry, more of your them would end up like Agnes
Such a talented and beautiful soul, loss for what??
So very sad 😞 she brought so much positivity, she doesn’t deserve this .I like her . Beautiful and has a fighting , positive spirit about her .
Great story, but It's So traggic that Agnes had to die so young. As a Kenyan I feel so sad
Black women interested in being managers and trainers - WE NEED YOU!
I am a trainer...how can I get you?
I am in South Africa and I’m so touched and sad about this. We are also suffering from the same issues of gander based violence.
I hear a lot of excuses

The age difference between the late Tirop and her husband tells it all the man must have had another family somewhere and he was only digging for gold in the name of love. When Tirop started noticing his mission she had to die because she couldn't be left to continue winning the races, and the dollars and her benefactor to go empty handed. This is very sad.
How is he out on bail when he confessed???? absolutely unacceptable!!!! Her Brother knows what needs to be done!
And he is spending her money
Too sad. Just as Agnes was making major waves on the track. She was one of my favourite athletes. Its shocking how many times she reported the violence with no measures taken to help her. Surely justice must prevail.
My deepest respect to all the women who are fighting back against the injustice and vileness of gender based violence. Time and time again we see ridiculously low sentences handed down or even no punishment at all.

Thank you for raising the issue of gender based violence, may we all take this issue seriously and do all we can to protect women all over the world. Well done to these beautiful Kenyan women.
As sad as it is, I don’t think anyone can blame Agnes’ manager or Adidas for not getting involved. Even if they had knowledge of the abuse, it’s business vs personal life. We all have a moral compass so from that aspect, they could’ve done more, but we certainly cannot hold them accountable.
