I purchased 2 sets labeled type2 from eBay. I watched your video before cracking the cases on any of them and inspected them and found that one of the sets was actually a type one. Glad I watched your video because I returned that one. All the coins from the type to set are on their way to great collections. Thank you for the helpful video.
You’re about the only coin channel I found that answers questions for free. That is so kind of you. You are my number one coin TH-camr. God bless you.🙏
Thanks Daniel ! Great information !! You have it all here in this video. Links to the 79 varieties along with this video on the 81S. I make notes, pause the video for screen shots then put that information away into a folder on my computer. It's easy.
Thanks Daniel, that was an excellent description of the two types. While I may not be personally interested in SBA's, I like having the knowledge regarding the mint mark varieties.
Thanks for the comparison of mint marks. I still need this type 2 for my collection, but it's been on the back burner while I've been getting other coins for my collection.
I can remember back in 1981 I checked the sets that I ordered from the mint. I think that it may have been 5? All were type II! I sold them in my shop but do not remember at what price.
I received 5 sets in the original USPS box from the mint in my grandfathers name for Christmas this year 2 of the 5 appear to be Type II. It is still in the plastic seal (with envelope). What should I do to verify or get graded?
I can certainly verify that Daniel know's his coins. I bought a 1981 type 2 proof set from him, and sure enough you can see the flattened ridges of the type 2 compare to its type 1 variety :) PS... Will you becoming to the Louisville Coin Show this coming October? Wasn't sure if that would be too far a range for you to travel to from Ohio.
I need help i have the same set with double s and looking at i found the nickle obverse has a die crack with the C on MONTICELLO cut in half..have u ever seen or heard of this??????
good information to know Daniel is it on the silver proof set also or just the clad?...…..love the information you share keep up the great job....i for one appreciate your sacrifice and patience to share this stuff . please don't ever let the kill joys and Misérables know it all's get to you.....i know there are others like myself that have the same love for coin and currency collecting and value the information you share. for some people they come on you tube and are just negative and just spew verbal shit soup....if they can make others more miserable than they are in their head it brings them joy.....they are the same people that have gotten away with insulting hurtful words and not gotten punched in the mouth .....so they continue to do it.....one can only hope that karma will come around and hold them accountable. Thanks again Daniel look forward to more great info and videos...keep smiling brother . its mind over matter...we don't mind and they don't matter!
It’s hard for me to believe that anyone might actually want to buy/own the ugliest US coin in history imho - the Old SBA dollar! I remember when they first were distributed. If you got one you either threw it in a jar or passed it off at the first opportunity.

Daniel, I can see the difference between a Type 1 and Type 2, yet I am still happy with my 1979 Type 1...LOL!
Thanks! But please don't post links to other channels here.
Great examples of the type 2! 🕵♀
Thank you. Good to see you in the comments again.

Can anyone answer WHY the 2 types were made? I can’t find that answer anywhere. I’m assuming it’s the same reason the 1979 had 2 types as well?
The proof 1981 type II "S" mint marks show the same characteristics on each denomination.
It’s the same mint mark
I have an 81 I need help with it I cant tell witch one it is
How much is a type 2 1981 mint set worth if they are all type 2's?

There’s no silver for 1981
Also a nickel 1964 NM mark
Is 2021 penny worth more than $400,000?
On Etsy
I inherited 4 of these type 2 proof sets.. unfortunately 1 was taken
