Wohoo, Very clever of Obsedian to use the concept of Special rounds of SPGs. I've never thought of that. Unfortunately WG is still lacking any kind of rebalance on SPGs, although SPG in WoT is Not fun for the one who play it and the one on the receiving end.
I like the idea that they are going to introduce SPGs as almost a support role with the special rounds. It's a step in the right direction, I hope they add smoke rounds for artillery.
Purposly Dear god YES Smoke rounds! Would be so awesome actually :) The ability for SPG's to cover a side way in smoke so enemies wont see whats moving past :) If they are gonna make the SPG supportty they might as well give it Smoke Rounds as well :)

Just happened that I watched this video, while I think those support rounds are generally a good idea I have to point out that there is no such thing as an EMP-Shell in existence.

Ahh, thank you so much for the information about the artillery. Many of us have been worried you'd have something game breaking, but from what I've seen here and in some other videos (coughJinglescough) you're genuinely interested in making sure the SPGs will be balanced appropriately, and you actually LISTEN to feedback. Much better than some other companies out there. The idea of specialty rounds sounds real good. Obviously they're going to need a lot of play testing to balance properly and make sure none of them are overpowered, but something like star shells for a night map (since I believe that's a stated game type to be in the final release) would be good. Maybe something like a Copperhead round that an AFV could target for, that would be more accurate than standard SPG rounds? That'd make cooperation between players even more important, and give AFVs another role on the battlefield that fits in with their stealth and mobility. FASCAM? Maybe they could lay a single-use minefield that would disable any vehicle driving over it and do some HP damage? Also make it so that those shells have a hard cap of like two or three just to make sure that arty players don't spam the map with them. That's another idea, too. Maybe some specialty shells could be a bit more powerful than other choices, BUT they have a hard cap of three, two, or even one round per game. It would give arty players the ability to add in some good punch in a crunch moment but at the same time keep them from dominating the game entirely, and also reward people who can read a situation and skillfully select the next round in the reload cycle (since I imagine SPGs will have long reloads). Anyway, I've prattled enough. Thanks very much for this update, and thanks to Obsidian for actually paying attention to giving artillery a proper balancing instead of giving a middle finger to its potential playerbase.
Awesome. I like your ideas for how arty will work. Providing actual support rather than removing 3/4 of someone's health every 30 seconds and letting the actual tanks duke it out.
Also TDs on modern battlefields DO NOT carry guns anywhere equal to their contemporary MBTs because their chassises can't withstand the recoil. That's why 80% of post WW2 TDs use ATGMs only. I really hope thats the case with the TDs in armoured warfare.
I like what you're doing with Artillery. I don't even care that you're using that PoV from WoT. This is how it should be balanced in WoT. Also I highly suggest you auto detect and auto ban anyone who uses illegal programs. I'm tired of players in WoT cheating by using WarPack. WarGaming does nothing to prevent it on purpose.
Finally a game where artillery is more than just clicking a button every 8-60 seconds! Specialty round are a cool Idea too just to keep artillery interusting.
Originally, I was strongly opposed to having SPGs in Armored Warfare. However, after seeing the new version in this video, I have to say: I think it'll be much more balanced than in World of Tanks (and much less reliant on RNG). Looking good, Obsidian!
What about modern western tanks that are meant to be able to go full speed over ground and fire accurately over 2 miles away? (Such as you saw Abrams tanks do in the battle of 73 eastings)
The new ideas for arty is great. Nothing annoys me more than being overhead and somehow overshoot with smallest circle possible. This shows if I'm going to overshoot or not. Great ideas!
i would like to see the arty get access to smoke rounds, while they may be useless at attacking they would be invaluable to the team for masking assaults and retreats.
I like those ideas about making every class have it's own "abilities". I think it will make the game more interesting to play but we will find it out when we will be able to play beta.
Glad that they adjusted the arty game play to area of effect more supporting damaging class, (then before with the 1 shotting) we don't want another wot clone. Rizky Nugraha Don't some armored vehicles in AW already have ATGMs? T-90, for example, IRL has an ability to launch AT missiles from it's cannon. And about "AFV"...is that an abbreviation for "armored fighting vehicle?.. shouldn't that be "IFV" - infantry FV?(for that you mentioned their ability to carry troops).
Which vehicles will be able to use ATGMs? And will USSR/Russian (or other, like Sheridan) tanks be able to use them (as they use them in real life) in exchange for a nerf in other area?
I'm pretty sure you can ATGM on the Sheridan. Look up AW video on Entak's channel. It just takes a lot more to load them than normal shells and you have to stop in order to lock on to the target in order to then shoot.
There are many vehicles that can use ATGMs, but no class in specific. If it had it in real life, it has it in the game. There are also dedicated ATGM launcher vehicles.
I was really scared with the first video I saw of AW and their artillery. I thought that I would never be able to leave the ever frustrating WoT and their fucking horrible and game breaking artillery. Not a big fan of the weird artillery rounds and the "light tanks" ability to fire on the move better than MBTs. IMO, but it's very subjective, I think that light tanks should be an intermediate between AFV "scouts" and MBTs, average at many things but great at disrupting the enemy with smoke screens and their mobility to target sides. For the rest, it really seems great.
yeah but if we include gun size, then MBTs should do little to no damage to AFVs, as their shots should rightly just go in one side and exit the other, with fuck-all damaged. But then we'd have MBT player raging about AFVs just trolololing around them and slowly whittling their health down to nothing, so AFVs would be nerfed to do no damage to anything that they wouldn't even think about fighting irl anyways. and then they'd complain (because god forbid you'd play them for any reason other than their supporting abilities because they're not fucking direct combat machines) and it would be a cycle of nerfs that turned AW into WT, with full realism enabled- but then MBTs would want to be invincible, because "muh reactive armour and muh chobabhm armour, you don't know how they work, it's invincible guyze"
It looks like a great concept. The thing is....the current popular tank games requires much less team work to play effectively, yet you rarely find teams willing and able to work together. This is going to require even more team play, from the same players who have proven for years that no such thing exists in random pub battles. I expect three fold tomato bashing.
The interface, the indicators, all the freaking HUD, when compying someone at least TRY. This looks like a complete and absolute re-skin of World of Tanks.
As someone who Alpha tested I can say that while there were a few similarities it is very very different to WoT. Much better, too. You could of course say that Half-Life 2 (the most popular game ever) was really just a reskin of Doom or Quake, but hey.

Feedback idea: There should be ability for scout tanks/vehicles to repair their teammates when fallowing them nearly and get points for that. Something similar to what was present in World in Conflict.

Sabakinno I'm sure that if someone gets hit really hard he will just camp near those healer class tank for the whole game to get his hitpoints to 100% again. But if they make the repair time too short instead, the game would be broken as well. Or were you talking about repairing tracks etc? That is actually not a bad idea, but it needs to be thought out well.
I think if they implement something like this, they should not give it to scouts, but instead add Armored Recovery Vehicles as a special class. This way they could get multiple kinds of repair and support functions, with the drawback of being (almost) completely defenseless. A matchmaking limit of 2 Armored Recovery Vehicles per battle would be needed, of course...
Sabakinno this is a great idea, the only reason i don't see them putting it into the game, is it would allow for stalling to a draw more often than should, the games i assume should only last 15 minutes before a draw. now if these "repairs" were to be done on critical hits rather than the vehicles constitute life, that would be okay simply because it wouldn't stall the game like HP repair. a fun idea when implemented correctly.
I am super worried that the armor takes nothing into account especially that AFV. War thunder does tanks armor extremely well and it should be very similar. Hit points are really weird when a 120mm shell will destroy a tank in one strike...
The SPG's round are amazing but i miss smoke shells or DPCIM. I thing all Classes are balanced and have thier own job on the Battlefield. And at the end a wish, i hop you guys add some jeeps in with AT armament like 90mm atguns or ATGM systems i think there importent too on a modern battlefield. :D

WoT Style? Realistic with abilitys that guarantee 100% eff. dmg? I'm not certain. Spec. that TD's doesnt exist anymore in Modern Battlefields, they are just obsolete.

Most of the UIs are almost carbon copy of WoT UI. Light tank is a small diamond, MBT seem to have a cross diamond like medium tanks in WoT. Class system is similar to WoT as well LIGHT MBT AFV SPG (AW) vs LIGHT MED HEAVY SPG (WoT). But this game offer new tanks, new ability, so the main question is, will I fight a tank 50 years more advance than mine? Will I have to handle invisible tank? (Just like in WOT) Is the ammo (shells) cost 1 billion dollars to buy? So far there's only EU and NA servers, oceanic players are not loved again.
the way tank blowup too cartoon for me, make it more realistic. also white trail of flying ammo is to visible, decrease it about 80% i think should be ok.
As a wot beta tester I am very much looking forward to playing this game as the wot game has become a joke since then, I just hope the developers won't loose sight of their goals in this game " am not saying they will but before you bombard me with hate" I think this is a great concept and can't wait to hopefully get into beta.see you on the battlefield
Why the hell aren't there guided or extended range rounds for SPGs? This is supposed to be a modern warfare game after all. They're also far more significant combat wise than the ones now ingame. ECM rounds? who the fuck uses that? Ilumination? This isn't WW2.
Finally, a game that is not trying to be too realistic, but more focused on the gameplay. Great job !

Night time maps where use of NVG optics and thermals are key. where if you fire a Illuminating shell it might hinder said optics

does anyone else notice how EVERY shot does damage, you literally always penetrate like you cant ricochet or bounce a shell

As far as i know one of the counterbalances for ATGM's is that you'll be alerted if one is targeting you.

SPG accuracy even at close range is generally horrible. Exception being (among the US guns) the US 8 inch howitzer...

Sabakinno this is a great idea, the only reason i don't see them putting it into the game, is it would allow for stalling to a draw more often than should, the games i assume should only last 15 minutes before a draw.
now if these "repairs" were to be done on critical hits rather than the vehicles constitute life, that would be okay simply because it wouldn't stall the game like HP repair. a fun idea when implemented correctly.
I am super worried that the armor takes nothing into account especially that AFV. War thunder does tanks armor extremely well and it should be very similar. Hit points are really weird when a 120mm shell will destroy a tank in one strike...

The SPG's round are amazing but i miss smoke shells or DPCIM. I thing all Classes are balanced and have thier own job on the Battlefield. And at the end a wish, i hop you guys add some jeeps in with AT armament like 90mm atguns or ATGM systems i think there importent too on a modern battlefield. :D

Yes Yes and Yes again to arty special rounds I like what you are doing with it so far and I'd love to see special ammo for them, Perhaps airburst rounds that have a larger splash radius but much less damage

Why have TD so small armor? I think there are good armored TDs. But this game looks really cool and i hope i'll get key to play closed beta :)
Modern TD's really don't have very good armour. They're designed to have the first and last word when it comes to shooting.
Nixod There might be some exceptions to that rule but yes tds are lightly armored snipy vehicles. Like the Hellcat more or less.
Oh OK i thinked about older older TDs that had really big armor.

I'm not certain. Spec. that TD's doesnt exist anymore in Modern Battlefields, they are just obsolete.
Can say what you want... But this game sounds better and better for every video i watch :) Like the SPG "scope" makes it easier to see whats in the way of your aim as well i would guess :)

Most of the UIs are almost carbon copy of WoT UI. Light tank is a small diamond, MBT seem to have a cross diamond like medium tanks in WoT. Class system is similar to WoT as well LIGHT MBT AFV SPG (AW) vs LIGHT MED HEAVY SPG (WoT). But this game offer new tanks, new ability, so the main question is, will I fight a tank 50 years more advance than mine? Will I have to handle invisible tank? (Just like in WOT) Is the ammo (shells) cost 1 billion dollars to buy? So far there's only EU and NA servers, oceanic players are not loved again.

the way tank blowup too cartoon for me, make it more realistic. also white trail of flying ammo is to visible, decrease it about 80% i think should be ok.

As a wot beta tester I am very much looking forward to playing this game as the wot game has become a joke since then, I just hope the developers won't loose sight of their goals in this game " am not saying they will but before you bombard me with hate" I think this is a great concept and can't wait to hopefully get into beta.see you on the battlefield

Why the hell aren't there guided or extended range rounds for SPGs? This is supposed to be a modern warfare game after all. They're also far more significant combat wise than the ones now ingame. ECM rounds? who the fuck uses that? Ilumination? This isn't WW2.
