Wow this was one of the best how to tutorials I’ve ever watched on TH-cam. You made it so easy to understand and pretty much dummy proofed it. I’ve been using MPC for years and never thought about breaking down each sound into separate sequences like you just did. I used to do my entire beat on just one sequence and than copy and remove sounds but this way is so much easier than what I was doing. Thank you for this. Definitely subscribing
Thank you!!! Much appreciated!!N don't kno if u kno ha but in main settings u can turn off the automation in the sequence. It's under SEQUENCER. In the list under Recording.. options for track mute events etc.
Amazing tutorial which finally put me on track after getting into bad habits and an ineffective workflow. Finally I feel I’m getting somewhere and making some music at last. Thank you so much!
Extremely helpful tutorial!! I'll be coming back to this often as I attempt to learn the device. I'd watched some other videos that left me as confused as I was before seeing them. Yours has been set up to teach someone unfamiliar with the unit, how to start using it. Thanks so much :)
I'm really glad it helped you. It's possible my tutorial helped because we have similar thought processes. :D Ain't nothing wrong with that. Thank you for your comment, it makes me feel really happy to know that I've done something to help others out. Take care and have fun!
Great job. Shows an example of how to make a song (there are so many features you can make one in all sorts of ways and workflows). You did a good job explaining and demonstrating how you like to approach it etc. Simple and easy to follow. Any newbie would find it extremely useful. Thank you.
This tutorial you did is hands down the best I've seen on the MPC live 2 and I've seen a whole bunch and I'm not just blowing smoke up you absolutely fantastic great job please please do more I've got you on the top of my play list this video is excellent man you've helped me tremendously getting started with my MPC live 2 thank you
Man, so glad it was my tutorial that reached you. I have a bunch more on the MPC Live, hopefully, those ones also teach you some more useful tips and techniques. :D
You know what? I'm REALLY glad you found this video helpful. Once this workflow made sense to me, the whole device made sense to me, so I wanted to share it. Thanks for commenting on my video, it means a lot to me.
The most helpful tutorial out there especially when it’s brand new out of the box and never used it before. Awesome job getting me going on this thing!
Thanks for this video. I just bought a MPCX and getting around with the manual is not very easy, but with your video it is a lot easier to understand how the MOC works. Thanks!
If it makes you feel any better, my MPC didn't come with a manual. I didn't know if I was just stupid or something, considering I had no idea how to use it and there was no manual in the box. It was also new, so it really felt like one of those "you should be able to figure it out on your own" messages from the manufacturer. :D
Thank you for your time n effort!! Quick tip automation in your sequence is optional. Just go to Main settings look under Sequencer..in the list you ll see recording..with options to Record Mute events etc. Hope it helps!
Love your channel. Quick question. My sequences /all tacks in a song have gone mono one speaker. I must have pressed something wrong. Quick fix? Keep up the good work...
Hey man, unfortunately, I don't know what's causing your issue, so I don't know how to fix it. I would just say to check your outputs in that track's settings. The eye icon at the top right of the track window. The other thing is, make sure you haven't set the pan to be all right or all left, in the track view where you can see what looks like a piano view. Below where your notes are penciled in, there's a bar-graph view that shows volume, but I think there's also a setting for left and right pan in there. I'm sorry I can't offer any more specific instructions than that. I do hope you get it figured out, and thank you for the kind comments about my video.
Honestly, before I knew how to use mine, I thought that I'd made a serious mistake buying it. I couldn't even make it make a sound because I didn't understand the concept of programs, sequences, and tracks. I'd hit the pads and nothing was happening. Usually, I know how to figure something out without any instructions, of which mine came without instructions, just a sheet with a description of different buttons but no mention of workflow. I was really upset, then I saw someone's tutorial, I can't remember the name of the person now, and it made everything clear to me. It's now my favourite groovebox, of which I have quite a few. :D
@@willeng-d4v Well, it makes me glad to know that it was helpful to you. Keep in mind, there is a LOT more to know about the device, but I didn't want to overwhelm anyone just getting into their device for the first time.

Bro this tutorial was super helpful. As a new MPC user this really helped guide me alone. BTW, Can you share the purpose of those circle stickers that are on your MPC? Thanks :-)
lol, those circle stickers are to help me keep my wiring in order. So, if I have a blue sticker on my Moog, I put a blue sticker on that port on my mixer, red for Virus, red on the mixer. That way, when I need to turn one up or down (I have so many things plugged into the mixer) I can easily see which one's which and turn it up or down without having to fumble around. :D Thanks for watching my video AND for commenting.

I'll look into it. Also, did you update from 2.10 to 2.11 or from an earlier version directly to 2.11? I'm asking because I haven't done the 2.10 to 2.11 update and if that's what you did, maybe I'll hold off, myself. Anyway, I'll have a look at whether or not there's some kind of system refresh. Also, not being able to get off the splash screen, is the screen unresponsive, or does it freeze while booting?
I'm copying and pasting something directly from a comment on another thread, in hopes that it might help you out. "MPC One 2.11.2 Just had a boot hang/loop. Stuck on MPC boot screen for about 5 mins. Held power button until it switched off, released and it does the same. Did this 3 times. On the 4th I held power button, screen went blank, I unplugged power cord. Checked my USB hub, removed Lan cable. Worked fine on next attempt. Never had that before." Perhaps, after a specific number of failed boot attempts, the system tries a re-initialization or something. Let me know if this works. If not, I'll keep looking for more information on possible fixes.
Sorry for the late reply. I'd like to do a video on recording samples into the machine using external synthesizers AND microphone, I just need to think about how I'd format it. Also, what do you mean by routing?
So I have saved samples and couple of project folders in the internal drive about three percent / should I erase them ? / & isn't saving the files and folders the same thing ??? a lil confused on that part ???
I recommend any saving you do on the MPC Live to be done to an external drive of some sort. Keep the internal storage clean, filled only with the stock stuff. If you've already saved some stuff in there, I wouldn't worry about it, just aim to be saving to an external device of some sort, from now on.

Convert to sequence should ofc not add the result to the song itself, that's why it was not showing. Also try shift pad to add seqs quickly to songs.
