Great review, it is great that you guys know which member is singing each song before the song starts. The first Queen album is amazing as well, and the 3rd Queen album as well. Basically all of Queen's 70's albums are top tier. Queen learned early on, it was very difficult for them to get radio play for their heavier songs, but they basically always made heavier songs well. Even in those days radio sometimes had a formula, that is why the best Queen songs are not necessarily always the hits. The first two Queen albums tends to be very popular with musicians, many metal bands would list this album and early Queen albums as an inspiration. Queen II was done on an 18 track machine. That is part of the difficulties within the production, when you have to record so many overdubs. Some of these songs are even better live, Queen were an amazing live band, they have often been voted as the best live band. Two songs from this album where the live versions are better is Father To Son - Queen live at the Rainbow 1974 and White Queen - Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975. Brian May and Roger Taylor had lead vocals on all of their 70's albums, by the 80's they just decided that Freddie should sing everything. Roger Taylor has an amazing voice, he could easily have been the lead singer in many bands, but he was in a band with Freddie Mercury. Roger was the main back up singer in the band. There is a lot to unpack in this album, this is somewhat of a concept album, the first side was the white side and second side was the black side. Brian May was very close to his father especially as an only child. During this time he and his father was really not getting along, because Brain May had left his Phd studies in Astrophysics behind in order to concentrate on Queen. Of course Brian's father was very unhappy about his son abandoning his Phd in order to play guitar in a rock band. Brian and his father did build his guitar together from scraps they had around the house. They were both supper intelligent, thus they designed a guitar with features that were unavailable at the time. When you look at a song such Father To Son, you can understand how Brian May might have written the song during that time. Brian and his father did eventually work through their problems. White Queen was written by Brian May about a girl that he really liked at university. The song is about being in love from afar. It is a very beautiful song, and the live version is truly amazing. Roger Taylor wrote a lot of more simplistic blues rock numbers in the 70's. Queen is the only band where each member has written a number one song. Queen did not use any synths in the 70's, most of the synth like sounds is actually Brian May with his guitar. He had an amp, build by bass player John Deacon that mimics orchestral sounds. Something interesting to understand about Freddie at this time is that he basically created a whole fantasy world through a few different songs, starting from the first album. Some people claim that he was writing a fantasy novel at the time. Songs such as Ogre Battle, The March Of The Black Queen and The Seven Seas Of Rhye fits into this fantasy world. Freddie's songs in this time often featured direct quotes from the characters within the song. The March Of The Black Queen starts with a battle at sea against a pirate Queen. The battle is lost and she tortures the soldiers from the other ship. Then she seduces the narrator and he falls for her charms and swears fealty to her and leave his old live behind. The Fairy Fellers Master-stroke is about a painting from Richard Dadd, he was in an asylum after he had killed his father, and it took him a few years to finish the painting. Freddie Mercury had a degree in art, so he was always interested in art. The song described the paining exactly. The song even features a polka. Freddie Mercury was a complex person, he wasn't just living with a women for appearances. The women, Mary Austin, was the love of his life, he even left the biggest part of his estate to her. On the first Queen album there is a song called My Fairy King, where a fantasy kingdom is invaded and destroyed, The Seven Seas Of Rhye is from the opposite perspective. The perspective of the invaders. Freddie created the story of Rhye alongside his siter, when they were children. The idea of the song also shows someone who is dreaming of adventures at sea, which is why it ends with "I do like to live beside the seaside". That is an English classic. Freddie was born on the island of Zanzibar. It is a good that you have noticed Freddie's piano playing as well, he is always just known for his singing and his stage presence but he was actually quite a good pianist as well. He actually started singing very late at the age of 23, in his first band he was just the piano player. Basically the only Queen album that many people often don't like is Hot Space, and the dislike comes more from the style of music. All of Queen's albums were generally good.
Fairy feller's master's stroke was a painting Freddie loved, each character in the song is in that painting. The first album was great too. Great reaction.
Richard Dadd (1817-1886) was the artist. He was a paranoid schizophrenic and composed "The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke" over a ten-year period while institutionalized. It's considered by most to be his masterpiece.
Yes it's their best album IMO , White Queen live is definitely worth a watch and reaction too .. Ogre Battle is just Queen playing speed metal which they're entitled too as they pretty much created it , Stone Cold Crazy live knocks the Metallica version out the park and is pretty much regarded as the birth song of speed metal . Great reaction guys 🤘
Brian is using the amp John Deacon made called Deacy’s amp on his Red Special guitar-that guitar he and his dad made from a table, fireplace mantle and parts in his garage. He said that guitar along with the amp John made allows him to make unique sounds. It’s called the red special. I love March of the Black Queen. The more you hear it the more you hear the brilliance of their collaborations. ❤😢RIP Freddie.
Queen II is my favorite Queen Album, it has a very unique mixture of Heavy Metal and Prog-Rock and already a very particular sound. The harmonies are so great and over the top, this was a band reaching for the stars without being famous. Loved your reaction to this very often unknown side of Queen, which I would argue is who they really are. No wonder it is the hardcore fans favorite.
The entire Freddie side of the record , was a fantasy world created by Freddie , but based on William Shakespeare's " Midsummer Night's Dream" and a classic painting that Freddie saw in a gallery somewhere.. These guys earned every damn letter in the word GENIUS.
"The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke" is a painting by Richard Dadd. (1817 -1886) The song by Queen is without a verse/chorus structure; the lyrics are actually a description of the content of the painting! The life of Dadd is fascinating, but would take too long to describe here.
Good reaction, allow yourselves to take the full trip and listen to their whole catalogue......then take in the live shows, there is so much more to Queen than just the hits as great as they are.
Back in high school, when this album dropped on my turntable, my life was changed forever. I was fortunate, to have been able to follow their development as it happened., album by album, each new one an epic event, shared with like minded friends.
Also, regarding the comment about Roger not having the 'Freddie Mercury range'. Roger has a higher voice than Freddie, so all the high notes you ever hear in Queen song, including Bohemian Rhapsody, is Roger. Freddie always joked about being jealous of Roger's range.
That outro song is an old song that everyone who grew up in England knows. So, in my opinion, Queen were a prog band at this point. All the songs on side 2 run into each other, and Sheer Heart Attack, the next album, continues from where this left off. While I've always loved Queen 2, Sheer Heart Attack takes it up like 10 notches. The first album is also great, though. You might wanna give it a listen. They had been playing and touring and writing for years before they recorded it, so they were way already more experienced and mature than a first album might lead you to believe. That said, I wanna get my vote/suggestion in again for Sheer Heart Attack. You'll love it.
Recently???? Where???? They were classic/bangers in my country (Spain) already when I was born (and most of the people from my parent´s generation didn´t learn English, but French at school, like with Bowie, it didn´t matter). They were already a worldwide phenomenon at the 70s and 80s. During the late 70s and early 80s they did tours in stadiums, beat records of audience in some audience (5 shows in Argentina, 300,000 people went to the one in Buenos Aires), 2 at São Paulo (131,000 people). Usually broadcasted to TV too. They had play/tour at Canada, Mexico, Japan, Montreal (recorded live), etc. Every year Bohemian Rapsody is voted "the UK's favourite hit of all time" since decades. They are one of the most bootlegged bands ever. People travel to Montreux to pay their respects to a statue in Mercury memory. And the Live Aid concert in 1985 (their performance, specifically) has been a myth since I can remember (and I was 5!).
Queen has been my favorite band since late 74 , "Some Day One Day " is my all-time favorite Queen song , and it's NOT sung by Freddie . I love the sound / product of this album 😉 Since you mentioned ages , I turned 60 yesterday !
The first rock and roll album I ever bought was Sheer Heart Attack. I was 13 in 1977 and it was a couple of years old. Then I bought A day at the races and Night at the Opera. Those albums had all the big international hits to that point. Then I was at the grocery store with my mom and found Queen and Queen 2 in the record section. I thought I had found antiques. At thirteen in 1977 it seemed that albums from 73 were really old. I had heard WMMS in Cleveland play Keep yourself Alive but that was all the radio play that came off the first two albums. And that was only after Killer Queen put them on the international charts. Their music wasn't known in the USA till their Sheer Heart Attack album in 74/75. They paid their dues.
Mention of the great 'bass line' a couple times . . . love it. John Deacon the lovely, lovely 'Deaky' one of the truly 4 legendary Queen musicians - he said no more Queen without Freddie and retired from music in 1997 after helping perform in a staged production tribute to Freddie Mercury's love of Ballet. So thrilled finding this, your viewing and discussion.♥
I'm 42 now. I first heard this at about age 12, and it sunk in immediately. It is my favorite album of all time from what I consider the greatest band of all time.
Pleases me enormously when someone else discovers an album ive loved forever,Brian's "red special"guitar was built jointly by his father and himself from household items[part of a wooden mantlepiece for the body,a spring from a bicycle shopping bag and knitting needles]his unique tone(ive read) owes a lot to the fact that 1,his pick-ups were wired in series not paralell as was most common which makes them run"hot" and 2, that the switch gear for the pick-ups can switch each one out of phase which can drive them even more, also the "i do like to be beside the seaside"snippet at the end of the album is reprised on the opening track of their next album"sheer heart attack","Brighton rock"where in amongst funfair sounds can be heard a fella whistling "i do like to be beside the seaside",the painting "the fairy fellers master stroke"was painted by Richard Dadd, all the characters mentioned in the song are in the painting,a lot of the names are unfamilliar as they were from the victorian era
Excellent video. Very thorough and full of first time insights. Queen II is, for those of us who are die hard Queen fans, considered to be their best album. With so many songs and styles throughout, it has something for everyone. Rock on fellas 🤘
Loved the reaction, on roger’s vocals though ,his full voice range is comparable to Freddie’s and is responsible for a lot of the higher harmonies. Hope you react to the next few albums too
You would be blown away by seeing some of these songs performed: White Queen live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975. Father to Son & Ogre Battle Live at the Rainbow 1974. The snarky gay references you make and snicker at are not cool, though. I thought we were beyond that. However, you should review their first album, Queen I: I know you'd be surprised.
I’m a cult follower of this album because I was forced to listen to it repeatedly in my boyfriend’s 78 Camaro’s tape deck. We were the envy of all our friends because of that car and that stereo system. Lol. And eventually, I knew every word and every note, and I still love it to this day.
Loved your review. One of the first albums I bought after starting with Sheer heart attack and a Night at the Opera. The first five albums are all worth listening to. Lots of great songs.
My favourite group ever. Thank you for this reaction. They had since the very begining (even in recording performances is evident) an incredible charisma on stage. Amazing composers, lyricists, doing arrangements, vocalists, with the instruments... Queen are, for me, the Kings, as they sang, the champions. Sooo many incredible songs unnoticed (or almost) that would be "the song" for almost any other group. It took UK, and USA even more, a while to urderstand that (in the time of the punk explosion) that weird group was truly amazing (while they were not earning almost a penny for a while due to bad contract deals, despite selling tons and tons of records). But they reached success quite early in the rest of Europe, Japan, South America... They are such an unique group with soooo many good songs... (Not my favourite album, though. Still, amazing). And yes, they had a lot of production problems (like overdubbing) and also had to delay the launch (due to restrictions due to the oil crisis of 1973 that impacted records/things with plastic). First producer was fired, recording studio/date issues (some of them were on College/University exams at the same time, like John Deacon , Brian was really ill (gangrene) and couldn´t go to the studio at the finishing stages, etc. Quite messy.
(Also: they weren´t earning almost a decent amount to live, rent or buy a house at that stage, despite of selling, due to the bad deal signed with Trident. It´s one of the reasons they left them)
I really enjoyed your reaction. I was a young rock fan when this came - at the time, in the UK, Queen were seen as almost a glam rock group and sometimes compared to Sweet! The black nail varnish and flamboyant clothes made mainstream rock fans a bit suspicious. When ‘Sheer Heart Attack’ came out, perceptions started to change.
Mach of the Black Queen ... often referred to as Bohemian Rhapsody's older big sister! I was lucky enough to have seen them live 6 times with the great front man.
My Queen top 10 proves your point about the album tracks , in no particular order, though Prophets Song is my favourite Queen track, 1 Prophets Song 2 You take my breath away 3 Brighton Rock 4 Somebody to love 5 It's late 6 Dead on time 7 My fairy king 8 Stone cold crazy 9 White Queen 10 March of the black Queen
"Funny How Love Is" has the Phil Spector Wall-of-Sound" effect. If you want to hear more of Freddie with that sound, check out Larry Lurex. That was a one off, with Freddie as the the lead vocals, with Brian May on guitar and Roger Taylor on drums. Trident Studios (Queen's management group at the time, as well as a recording studio), in 1972, was experimenting with the "wall-of-sound", so they recruited Freddie to record the vocals, with Brian and Roger as paid studio musicians, to record a 7" single. The "A" side was "I Can Hear Music" (th-cam.com/video/KxyjGL8xJAU/w-d-xo.html) and the B side was "Goin' Back" (th-cam.com/video/3epki8NAbWg/w-d-xo.html)
This is by far their best album. Needs to be listened to in order as you guys are doing. The first album is probably their 2nd best. Great vid guys. Get to hear the old queen songs
Watch live at the Rainbow with these songs. White Queen has a piano and guitar battle live. Brian’s guitar is unique because he made it with his father.
Fun reactions❤❤ I think Freddie gives his best performance and singing on a live stage live with an audience etc Wembley and Hammersmith. Like your reaction to White Queen at Hammersmith❤❤❤❤😂thank you❤❤❤❤ Freddie Forever❤❤❤❤❤
Brian made his guitar with his dad out of an old fireplace and table top. He has a unique sound and it was made so he got the sound he wanted. He is a wonderful player. John Deakin is also a wonderful base player. Each band member has written multiple No 1's.
They were so poor when they did this. After sheer heart attack they switched managers and if night at the opera wasn’t big it would have been over for them because they were in so much debt just getting out of their contract.
It's definitely part of why the production was as poor as it was on _Queen_ and _Queen II_ , but considering the low budget and their grand ideas, they killed it. Just as you guys said, you can hear their immature sounds and their grandiose dreams for the future. So many interviews of the guys over the years have shown how difficult working together was and how they did not see each other on breaks, but they _knew_ how great they were together and refused to break up the magic. Thank goodness for all of us!
Thank you for your review ! Nicely done gentlemen !The whammy bar is Brian’s Mothers knitting needle… AXL Roses favorite bands ?… Queen and The Cure. Welcome to the jungle was a tribute to a Queen song…. Now I will give you a little homework. Which one ? …
I would've NEVER guessed you guys are older than Freddie, looking great fellows. Great review, I watched all of it, it feels great to enjoy this album with other people.
Just subscribed to your channel lads. Just watched your reaction to queen 2. Brilliant. You guys are ace. Really really good watch. Please do some more queen 😊
...of his LADY friend ... It's about a painting 😉 Roy Thomas Baker is the producer of the first five Queen albums , he is partly responsible for the Queen sound . I would suggest "Sheer Heart Attack" next
And "Seven Seas of Rhye" was featured in the Biopic _Bohemian Rhapsody_ . Many people know it now from that movie. (It showed them making it in the studio.)
the fairy fellers masterstroke was about a painting that freddie owned by the same name from a british artist called richard dad, if you google the painting then the lyrics of the song will make sense to you instead of sneering at it! 👑✊🇬🇧
old school Queen fans look on march of the black Queen as bo rhaps big sister, it seems to be a little taster of what was to come, so many tempo and key changes, their transitions were seamless and at this point they were all young men on their SECOND album, how many bands have the talent to create work of this quality? and people say Queen are over-rated 👑✊🇬🇧
The cover art was taken by mik rock for the Bo Rhap video. I remember seeing it when it was released and was blown away. The Idea for the Photo was taken from a photo of marlena deitrich.
My first concert was Queen at Hyde Park, London 18th September 1976, which was a free concert. Ogre Battle was on the set-list. Probably their heaviest song along with White Man from A Day at the Races.
if you look at the Queen coat of arms, there is a crab (cancer sign for Roger/John) Brian and Freddie (dragon and the fairies) Fred drew and designed it.
Great reaction guys, I watched the whole thing at once, you should definitely go for the next one too “Sheer Heart Attack” and definitely “A Night At the Opera” Queen of the 70’s is an experience
A Night At the Opera is The masterpiece (although their albums until the early 80s are all amazing to me).The Hot Space turn (with the brilliant exception of Under Preassure) is the only speck of dust for me on their career (and I´m not saying they didn´t have good song later...). Long live to Queen. I fell in love with them at 10. I´m 43. Must be one of the longest relationships of my life.
My second favourite Queen album (after Sheer Heart Attack). I've always wondered if the album would hold better without "Loser in the End". In a way it doesn't fit in with the other tracks or is it like the middle section of the Beatles "A Day in the Life" where its a slice of real life in amongst the fantasy.
"Modern Times Rock and Roll" from the first Queen album is heavier than " Stone Cold Crazy" from Sheer Heart Attack , their third album . Everyone always uses Stone Cold Crazy as one of the VERY FIRST "Thrash / Metal " songs , it of course was covered by Metallica. Queen 1 is heavy garage rock / metal .
An ostler is a man who cares for horses Harridan is a shrew. You have to remember Queen hails from Britain… the terminology and historical references …. Wouldn’t you like to be besides the sea ….. A Night At The Opera has a song called Seaside Rendezvous….
🥰 thank you for the reaction.

Feller’s* not “fellows”
It's such a absolute complete banger, total insanity
Queen live at the Rainbow 74 is a really great concert composed from the firsts three albums , it ´s a joy and a pleasure to watch and listen

❤️🤟🙏🤟❤️
Roger has a great gritty rock voice. Also is known as the dog whistle because he can sing very high notes.
Seven Seas of Rhye was the breakthrough single for Queen in the UK. I heard it at 7:30am getting ready for school and my life was never the same...

Fairy fellow is his take on a piece of art from the Tate Gallery. Don’t forget he went to art school. It’s not about being gay.check out the painting.
The painting was a piece of work by the artist, Richard Dadd- completed in a mental institution, between 1855-1864.
When you hear White Queen alive - your mind would 🤯. So beautiful. You will witness also Freddie's piano playing.
Live*

I would have loved them to have continued on in this vein. This is just so much more interesting to what they would become famous for later
I was 13 when I got this album. I listened with headphones throughout my teens. I love it.
All of side two, particularly “Black Queen” makes Bohemian Rhapsody sound like a cake walk!
The entire Freddie side of the record , was a fantasy world created by Freddie , but based on William Shakespeare's " Midsummer Night's Dream" and a classic painting that Freddie saw in a gallery somewhere.. These guys earned every damn letter in the word GENIUS.

It’s God Save The Queen right?
Was just thinking that there's so much prog on this. I really wish this is what they would have become famous for
Great reaction, you should react to white queen live at hammersmith Odeon 1975 you won’t regret it. 👍
The comparison of the album version and that Hammersmith version would be awesome!
Great, honest review. Queens first 6 albums are all bangers. Only recently are they getting recognition. So many great songs.

The different instrument in White Queen is not a sitar, believe it or not it is an old acoustic guitar.
I love reading everybody's comments about their discovery of Queen. I had my own as well 😁
Ahh sounds of my youth..great reaction guys..you'll love their first album 'Queen' !
First Queen album using synthesizer was The Game, 1980
The live versions of these songs are fabulous. I love the rawness.
I really recommend you guys check out their performances at The Rainbow 1974. It’s a great show
Great reaction video! 😉 MORE QUEEN!! 👑🔥🎸
❤️🤟🙏🤟❤️
Excellent video. Very thorough and full of first time insights. Queen II is, for those of us who are die hard Queen fans, considered to be their best album. With so many songs and styles throughout, it has something for everyone. Rock on fellas 🤘
It really is an incredible album 😊
I’m so glad you showed some love to Loser in the End. I am very partial to Brian’s and Roger’s songs.
💜 This was really nice, guys. This album is such a great listen. I still miss Freddy. Father To Son is my favorite song on this album
I also think Father To Son is their best Song on this.
I was a freshman in college blasting this album constantly and no one had a clue who I was listening to...YET!
Great reaction, this one is incredible. Another great album is News of the world (1977).
❤️❤️🎸🎸
Loved the reaction, on roger’s vocals though ,his full voice range is comparable to Freddie’s and is responsible for a lot of the higher harmonies. Hope you react to the next few albums too
❤️🤟🙏🤟❤️
Queen best songs are the less known ones. Brighton Rock, The Prophet's Song, White Queen, Liar, etc.
That awesome acoustic guitar in Father To Son is played by John Deacon.
It's is his musical interpretation of a painting, he loved.
If you want to hear Roger Taylor’s range - check out Lap Of The Gods on Sheer Heart Attack.
Go back to the start guys, you won't regret it.
Great reaction
In my opinion, this is their best. Closing followed by Night at the opera. Side 2 (the black side) is CRAZY GREAT!!!!
Production was limited by the fact they were using TAPE. Roger said it got SO overdubbed that LIGHT came through it!
Freddie is still alive to me because you can’t stop listening everyday.
Loved your review. One of the first albums I bought after starting with Sheer heart attack and a Night at the Opera. The first five albums are all worth listening to. Lots of great songs.
❤️🎸✌️
Ah, the sanitized lyrics. Check out the original lyrics for march of the black queen. Yes, it just means brown sugar.
My Queen top 10 proves your point about the album tracks , in no particular order, though Prophets Song is my favourite Queen track,
1 Prophets Song
2 You take my breath away
3 Brighton Rock
4 Somebody to love
5 It's late
6 Dead on time
7 My fairy king
8 Stone cold crazy
9 White Queen
10 March of the black Queen
dude, you're right, these songs should have been on the radio....in the 70s this music went widely unnoticed
Brian playing but Freddie wrote ogre battle on guitar
Brian said Freddie was all down strokes and very fast
I bought the viny LP in 1974 and it included a full-color Poster of the fairy fellers master-stroke painting.
Whattt that’s so cool! Do you still have it?
@@Imontei went years ago with all my vinyl when CDs came on the scene....
My fave album of all time
LOVE THIS ALBUM! ❤❤❤ Enjoyed your reaction and appreciate the whole album.
❤️❤️🤘🤘
Mary Austin was his life long love. He left her almost everything.
❤️❤️❤️
My fav queen album on so many levels .. my fav reaction . Loved your assessments . Very professional
Thank you !
It's my favourite Queen album. Great reaction guys.
hahaha, post Fairy Fellers Master Stroke.... "Acid induced song...".... waiting now for the reaction to March of the Black Queen! LOLZ
Brian made his guitar with his dad out of an old fireplace and table top. He has a unique sound and it was made so he got the sound he wanted. He is a wonderful player. John Deakin is also a wonderful base player. Each band member has written multiple No 1's.
As you probably know, Brian May had a very close relationship with his father, thus the song "Father to Son" makes sense when put in that perspective,
They were so poor when they did this.
Queen 2 is a masterpiece
Thank you for your review ! Nicely done gentlemen !The whammy bar is Brian’s Mothers knitting needle… AXL Roses favorite bands ?… Queen and The Cure. Welcome to the jungle was a tribute to a Queen song…. Now I will give you a little homework. Which one ? …
I would've NEVER guessed you guys are older than Freddie, looking great fellows. Great review, I watched all of it, it feels great to enjoy this album with other people.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cool reaction, one of the honest ones (that's rare), thank you!
Glad you enjoyed!
Just subscribed to your channel lads. Just watched your reaction to queen 2. Brilliant. You guys are ace. Really really good watch. Please do some more queen 😊
Very kind words. Ty
...of his LADY friend ...
It's about a painting 😉
Roy Thomas Baker is the producer of the first five Queen albums , he is partly responsible for the Queen sound .
I would suggest "Sheer Heart Attack" next
Understand! You are the King!
Freddies seven seas of Rhye was their first single to chart at no 10 uk
had three performances on top of the tops
Where "Black Queen" is the older sister to "Bohemian Rhapsody," "The Prophet's Song" is the third in the trilogy. All three are exquisite.
The cover art was taken by mik rock for the Bo Rhap video. I remember seeing it when it was released and was blown away. The Idea for the Photo was taken from a photo of marlena deitrich.
The fairy fellers master stroke is about a painting Freddie liked in the National Gallery
My first concert was Queen at Hyde Park, London 18th September 1976, which was a free concert. Ogre Battle was on the set-list. Probably their heaviest song along with White Man from A Day at the Races.
You have got to do Queens first album QUEEN
very nice guys , thanks!
Don't forget that all the high vocal notes comes from Roger Taylor🙂
Roger is the Angle voice we hear on the top end of many of the backing vocals.
if you look at the Queen coat of arms, there is a crab (cancer sign for Roger/John) Brian and Freddie (dragon and the fairies) Fred drew and designed it.
Early Queen was AMAZING!! Absolutely GRWAT album!!!!
Watching White Queen is better live. It's amazing. I heard Brian say that Freddy's singing got better when he became more of a perfectionist.
The Fairy Tellers Master stroke is about a painting by Richard Dadd, he was incarcerated in a lunatic asylum after murdering his father in 1843
My second favourite Queen album (after Sheer Heart Attack). I've always wondered if the album would hold better without "Loser in the End". In a way it doesn't fit in with the other tracks or is it like the middle section of the Beatles "A Day in the Life" where its a slice of real life in amongst the fantasy.
They didn’t have the money for the production they wanted but the song is fabulous.
React to their first album
"Modern Times Rock and Roll" from the first Queen album is heavier than " Stone Cold Crazy" from Sheer Heart Attack , their third album .
Everyone always uses Stone Cold Crazy as one of the VERY FIRST "Thrash / Metal " songs , it of course was covered by Metallica. Queen 1 is heavy garage rock / metal .
Master Stroke is about a painting. back then they were opening for Mott the Hoople
The most underrated Queen album ever!
Fairy feller master stroke is a painting.
Check it out and they just sing what you see on the painting.
Amazing song
An ostler is a man who cares for horses Harridan is a shrew. You have to remember Queen hails from Britain… the terminology and historical references …. Wouldn’t you like to be besides the sea ….. A Night At The Opera has a song called Seaside Rendezvous….
