@@AltNovayou are right, his high polearm attack speed means he has very high stagger (though pushing enemies with attacks is a bit bad because the strategy is to fight near your stone stele)
add in crescent pike and good artefacts, he can do damage
thing is, can f2p players afford investing that much when a claymore user still does more damage even with mediocre artefacts (this is my own experience, i was still leveling up diluc and though he had like 3 gold artefacts that were barely levelled up, and he was lvl70 while zhongli was 80, he did more damage than zhongli did lmaooo

@@momsaccount4033 no i was expecting him to atleast outstrip a 4 star polearm user using the same spear, people arent asking for diluc or klee lvl dps they just want him to feel like a 5 star. Polls show that he is the least popular 5 star in terms of viability in end game content. People who say he is viable are people who piled huge amount of resources on him. If he is meant to be a support then why does he need a huge amount of investment(+16 or more artifacts) in order to for him to work decently.
@@Kurodo013 From my experience, I feel like Zhongli will work decently fine just by leveling him up and slapping on a good Artifact set. I suspect that the problem might be people not being able to properly invest into Zhongli due to investing heavily into previous characters. Zhongli also looks and feels like a 5 star in my opinion, with the cool looking cinematic and flashy attack animations. His shield looks VERY powerful and using Zhongli’s Burst to guarantee damage from say another character’s Burst looks really cool and effective.

"How much can one love a fictional character?
All my discomfort and misery now is because I was so eager and excited then. I rushed to take Zhongli into my party. But seeing how low his damage is, how his supporting capabilities were outclassed by 4-stars, I first felt it was I who had failed him. I didn't give him the best equipment and artifacts.
But then when I did give them all to him, nothing had changed. Even though my brain understood it was a problem of numbers and data points, my heart felt it was I who had humiliated his character. I watched as the other three members of the party easily performed their duties, my throat swelling up with sorrow and bitterness..
Upon completing his story mission, when the curtains closed on the last scene at Guyun Stone Forest, I sat staring at my computer screen. Ah, how nice, I said.
He wished not for dominion, yet he could not watch the common folk suffer. He left the Salt Goddess's final belongings to the sea, so this weak and pacifist goddess could at last rest in peace. Perhaps he did so out of pity, or perhaps it was because he felt echoes of sympathy in the similarities between her situation and his own now that he was no longer Morax.
That was the feeling his character gives off: a boulder of stone upon which beats the wind and rain--eternally enduring, yes, but still never able to regain what it was before. Only upon growing familiar with you, will he share with you a glimpse of those bygone events. His words are akin to salt-kissed river water, a slight tinge of salt mixed with nostalgia for the past and exhaustion at the weathering of eons.
The saying goes, "A gentleman's merits are like jade, warming the hand that touches them." He once was rock, and the years polished him into jade. His sensibility is his warmth, as warm as the golden lining of his eyes.
A god so powerful he had trouble adapting to the mortal world, yet still holding care and awareness of others in his heart. How could I not love him?
