The way it cuts out the music as if the act of the lightning being forced into the ground effects the out-out-game music is just insane. This and the attack that he uses to begin phase 2 always being paired with the phase 2 section of the music makes the fight even more insane. 10/10 would fight again
I think it stops music because placidusax and farum azulas stones can control time, you can also see that in the explosion the red lightnings shooting out are standing perfectly still
@@lorenzocorso530 its shows he controls time at the very start when you first meet placidusax, when you sit in the hole, because the tornado behind you stops and starts going backwards plus everything around you thats destroyed rebuilds itself
I generally love boss attacks that just stop the music (or muffles it) to emphasize the power, which is why Placidusax is on top of my list for best bosses along with Valstrax, Safi'jiiva, Alatreon, and Fatalis from Monster Hunter. (all of them does stop/muffles the music)

Honestly this attack should be hitting WAAAAY harder with how over the top it is. Like barely survivable with 50-60 vig and heavy-ish armour imo. Its cuts out the music during startup and then calls in an orbital strike to erase you, how should it not be a near one shot for most builds? Or like, I dunno scale it’s damage based on proximity. Survivable but tough at range and a guaranteed insta kill regardless at point blank. It’s like a whole 10 second wind up with a very obvious tell that can easily he ran away from if you get hit by it you actually deserve to start the fight over
Fyi a lot of heavy armor's lightning resis isn't that great. Tho I do agree that it NEEDs to do at least 3.5k damage (barely survivable with 60 vigor 45 lightning absorption, both of which are really high).
It kinda sucks that it isn't just an insta-kill imo, the power on the wind alone should be able to damage the player so they keep their distance and witness the attack to its full glory.
just defeated placidusax and delivered the killing blow during the the wind up for this attack, mere seconds before the blast. the most thrilling moment I've ever experienced fighting any boss

More bosses need this. It honestly adds so much when fighting a boss like this to cut away from the music momentarily and just hear the ambient sounds. It sort of takes you out the heat of the fight and makes you look at it completely differently.
if anything, i kinda wish that they did something where, in his arena, you could use his rememberance and the bolt of grandsax weapon and upgrade it into the bolt of placidusax, giving it that as it's weapon art.
I literally will not ever get over how the music cuts out during this attack and then fades back in when it's over, as if his power is so staggeringly overwhelming that it warps reality and makes time, space, and even sound grind to a halt around him. My favorite boss in the game hands-down

Placidusax might've topped Grigori (from dragon's dogma) when it comes to pure badassery spectacle for a dragon fight in any game. Holy hell that was awesome.
This is his signature ultra-rare legendary ulti. 35% chance of witnessing in the boss fight. It triggers if he received around 1800 to 2600 chained dmg under 10 seconds. This is what Godfrey witnessed when Leyndel's wall fell for the first time. This ulti has the biggest AOE in-game and it's 1 hit-KO if it hits you. Last but not least, this incantation exists in the database but it's not available to obtain yet, probably coming on upcoming DLC or expansion etc

Imagine, You're part of a small raid group of about 10-12 trying to find and take down this boss, and you think that because of the amount of people here, you don't need to worry about how this boss is going to attack you, you got your supports, mages and DPS, but when you all arrive to the destination you find this creature. still -although beyond past its prime- it waits, for the god that left him, and he comes across your little group; and chooses to rise to your "challenge" already opening up with a randomly selected AOE lightning attack, killing half your mages, damaging your DPS to the point you they have to use their flasks, and the mage only being able to do minor damage because of the Dragonlord's high defense, but you all push onward trying to get as much damage into it until it's had enough. It conjures a spear similar to the bolt of Gransax and slams it into the ground, blowing the mages back, stunning the DPS and as everyone is trying to regroup, all you hear is the unbridled fear in one voice, screaming "TAKE COVER!!" before being snuffed out by the shock and explosion of this monstrous incantation. you party is almost all wiped out except for you and a mage low on health with no more flasks and a Cleric that ran out of mana. the only thing you can do at this rate is watch as they get torn apart before the beast cleaves through them with one strokw of it's claws, and then turns to you. but before it could attack one message pops up before it makes the final swing Host of fingers had died. Returning to your world.
Tail end is the smarter way to run from this attack that way once it ends you can attack the end of the tail for the same damage as body hits. Time for 2-3 hits and roll reset to keep your momentum for its next attack.
Probably the coolest attack in the game, in a game full of awesome attacks. Too bad it only does like 500 dmg, really wish it did 20,000 so that it is as dangerous as it looks
I like how the Elden Beast runs half way across the map to disengage but Placidusax make us run half way across the map instead.

Yeah, Gransax used one of these nukes to blow a hole into the walls of Leyndell.
Gransax is basically the god of all dragons. Insanely massive and used a weapon that the lightning dragons tried to replicate using lightning

I love how the environment darkens before it’s about to explode like a real storm and how placidusax just backs away into the shadows

This attack needs a buff. It needs way more range and being one hit kill. If you successfully get out of the blast zone you get knocked back.

Hes not immune, just resistant. According to the wiki, he was 1,349.5 hemorrhage resistance
