Is maya something you could setup on an android tablet? I’m not sure I understand the benefit of having the tablet/phone embedded in the board. I think it would be useful to give examples of stuff I can’t do on my iPhone + Chessnut Air setup vs this one
I saw your brief video showing black from bottom. I also saw on Facebook a video showing how to play black from the bottom, and it required turning board around. So I'm wondering how did you get to play black from the bottom without turning board around?
Very enjoyable watching you play the game and demonstrate the board. Obviously, you are a good chess player. The size of this board being 20.47 inches wide means the space required for Pro and EVO is not that much different. The width required is significantly different but overall, any square table top should work for both Pro and EVO. For example, I have a mobile stand that accommodates both chess boards individually. There is a space requirement for the phone/tablet using Pro, but the plus side is larger pieces. Then the challenge is larger pieces versus large display screen. Who wins? Get them both and end the confusion ;-)

How would you compare this board to GoChess? I would love if this board could save an OTB game and take a “screen shot” of the board state to come back to
I don't know anything about GoChess. Don't forget this is a Alpha pre-production unit, hardware and software, so anything is possible. I'll keep posted as I get new updates and learn more.
Interesting...with my air and a smartphone/tablet i definitley do not have this long delay, mostly < 1sec (lichess) I do not understand why this should change with the evo...could you please explain? In general, nice vid als always 😊
This is a ALPHA stage product. And as you may well know I have pretty much every modern chess eboard out and all of them have a delay. I mean it's pretty irrelevant because of your playing chess online. You don't see the delay. You only just see the delay if you have a screen open looking at it.

Thanks for the review! $799 is a fair price?. I don't think so. For the same price I can get the Pro + all accessories... lc0 needs a good graphics card to run, so for me it is better to run it on my PC. I think this unit is overpriced. Looks nice but the Pro is better a option.
To each his own. This are niche products and have huge convenience factors. And you only need just this unit and a small space. Sure you can buy all of that, but the premise of this board is different. Either way you'll be fine. I absolutely think 799 is fair.
In your mind calculating, just imagine you was about to make a move to pick up the piece to find that to move you were planning on doing the LED lights up red indicating that it would be captured as a blunder. That's how it would help for example.

I am doing a size comparison in my next video. The playing area is roughly the same size at the Chessnut Air. As far as playing with the Black pieces I have not tried that yet, but don't forget this is a ALPHA stage product. Things will only get BETTER from here.

If both players are using it I'd like it a lot.

Pieces are pretty much the exact same size as the pieces that come with the Chessnut Air.
