I didnt understand the ending at all and why the lines had to connect with eachother you didnt really explain that

I don't think you need this, but the reason he didn't was because it doesn't matter how you connect them as long as it satisfies the conditions. For example, he could have done a negative slope for the lim approaching 3 from the right or a positive slope because that wouldn't have affected the conditions. However for lim approaching 3 from the left, it had to come from the open point at zero to satisfy that condition of having a line from the left. Tldr: doesn't matter where line goes as long as it satisfies the conditions
