The more masculine a man becomes, that allows a woman to be more feminine. The man must lead his wife, and family in the right way. If he doesn't have that ability, then trouble will follow.

I have been married for 23 years and in that time, I cannot recall one time where my wife was a supportive blessing. She has always been a burden seeking to find ways in which I can help carry more of her responsibilities. The small number of times she has seemed to want to know more of what she can do to help me was to simply review what I am currently doing, provide criticism and add to the list.

@ Todd Homman that is very true! It is hard, very hard, to find a woman who wants and desires to be a wife to her husband out of love. I can give no advice on where these ladies are located, but absolutely without doubt, you will KNOW when you come across one! It will be refreshing to be around them! You will find one, just be impatiently patient and wait and watch, and while you're at waiting, work on yourself, on your character, wisdom, academics, and pay no heed to pathetic, arrogant, hostile women who are destitute of wisdom.

My ex-wife felt the need to share every single last negative thought about me that popped into her noggin. It was twenty years of absolute misery broken up by some rare good times. She either loved me or she hated me. There was no in between. I was way more careful the second time around, and got myself a prenup-which gave the ability to walk away should it become miserable for little to no financial pain. My new wife is a blessing. You ever wonder why a women's curse in the Garden of Eden was to desire a man? Really, that was her curse, along with pain in childbirth. (Gen 3:16) And that man's curses were given, not just bc he sinned, but also bc he "listened to his wife"? (Gen 3:17) It seems our relationships were sewn in rocky soul from the start. I guess that's why we need Jesus to help us get thru' it.

On average most men don’t have to be prompted, reminded, or encouraged to be a “blessing” to their women bc they are expected to be and they want to be. Culturally the message to the modern woman is to be as selfish as possible, meaning it’s all about her happiness. He should be doing all these things and if not find another man who will. Here’s another one I hear quite often: a man shouldn’t rely on you for anything bc that would be considered emotional “labor”. Don’t be a man’s mother, etc.
In essence a man has to fulfill a woman’s ever changing ever evolving wants, needs, and desires but shouldn’t expect anything in return or ask anything of her. In other words women want men to be in a one sided non-reciprocating committed relationship where he caters to all her needs but he has to still carry himself as if he’s still single in terms of taking care of himself as if she’s not even in his life but when it comes to his sex life he has to act like he’s in a committed relationship with her. Her on the other hand wants the security and social status/proof that comes with being in a relationship but wants to still exercise/explore her options as if she’s still single especially when it comes to her sex life. In either case women get to have their cake and eat it too. Any push back, resistance, complaints, or reservations from the man, women talk it up as men being weak, insecure, manipulative, or controlling which is just a way to shame, guilt trip, or gaslight men into going along with it.
I believe the other reason women are against being a man’s blessing is bc culturally we have programmed women to associate anything she would do for her man as being equivalent to slavery hence all this resistance to relationship reciprocation.

So yes you can be an automatic blessing but for the most part it's an ongoing effort.
If you must be competitive then do so by out-resisting him for all the times he doesn't snap at you.
Why should the marriage you agreed to get less effort than when you worked for customers/clients/partners/bosses/etc? You know how to get tips/not-fired so apply that where it matters more.

Out in the barn, NICE :). But we are naturally a blessing, we give birth. That being said, life is way to short to "sweat the little things". Often my husband will make a comment....... very often, I will say "are you asking my thoughts". In all honesty, most of the time he responds yes. I give my thoughts/opinion, sometimes that ends up in great conversation, other times... life just goes on. Finding ways to let your man know how much he is appreciated, if he is a good man, will come back to you many, many times over. Totally agree with the premise "be a blessing".

The "what about the men" comment demonstrates the cultural mentality of having a transactional relationship. "Yeah, but I do this, that, and the other and they only do X." Those who operate by transaction in their relationships are often terrible at truly tallying both their own efforts and the efforts of their partner. There is no love in transactions. Hopefully this message was a blessing to those who need to hear it.

You have the perfect attitude to be a wife. My wife had the same attitude and she was my life's greatest blessing. Her goal in life was to be a wife and mother. I was the breadwinner. It worked for us very very well. She would have made any man in the world happy but she chose me and she treated me like a king. I did my best to deserve that treatment. Would that I could be that lucky again! I do have beautiful memories to last me from now on.

    Hahaha !!!
Most “woe of man” are already a blessing .
Not that they intend to be , but they are , nonetheless...
The lessons learned and the relief once the pain abates , are truly an epiphany for men .
I’m always grateful when someone expands my world view and gifts me with knowledge and wisdom .
I have been taught so much by females .
I was taught to cook by them , how to be self sufficient and emotionally independent .
Their instability was a perfect example of what not to be .
Their contrariness and stubborn willful need to disrupt the flow of life ... even to their own detriment...
    The addiction to drama ...
I’ll admit I was taught to clean and keep things orderly by the military , but how to also have a comfortable home ... that was by a female .
Even what self indulgence looks like , and how to engage in it in a somewhat healthy manner from time to time .
Rigid discipline at all times makes Jack a dull boy .
Regimentation ... while efficient ... can be cold and heartless .
But the skill to deal with females and their male orbiters ... socially and professionally , while not allowing them to get any licks in on me privately...
Oh , that is the product of years of instruction provided by the Sisterhood ...
If one is religious , then one must understand ...
God created Eve ... not as a practical joke on , or a punishment for man ... no ...
As Paul clearly indicates ... she is a test ...
The lessons learned from passing can help a man reach his full potential as a spiritual , wise , self sufficient and capable being .
Give him an indulgent , tolerant ... even somewhat fond view of the feminine creature and her wiles .
While the test may seem harsh when experiencing it ... in hindsight , we should be grateful to them for their time and effort .
They are the perfect foil ... exquisitely designed to do exactly what they do .
    The infinitely sharp blade .
The cruelty with which they perform their function almost flawless .
    Truly divinely inspired ...
Another word for test is “ trap “.
And learning how to avoid those is fully worth the price .
    A blessing indeed .
    Ave Masculum Invictus ...

Thank you for this topic, and especially for addressing the tongue issue. I reach my word intake limit in about 3 minutes when a woman is processing her day via a drama-laden verbal flash flood. Ugh.
A man's primary role in a traditional relationship is to provide physical protection and provision for the woman, who in turn is to provide emotional protection and provision for her man. Everyone is taught the former, and few the latter.
A woman can be a great blessing through C.A.R.E... that is, by intentionally and consistently demonstrating Consideration, Appreciation, Respect, and by being 'Easy'. And by easy, I mean keeping the unnecessary drama and intense emotions out of the relationship as much as possible.
Consistently offloading her emotions onto her man is equivalent to a man expecting her to do the heavy lifting for him in a hard labor situation. Neither party is suited to these self-serving avoidances.
Feel free to use. I'd enjoy hearing your elaborations should you so choose.
    Cheers.
