    Derek that's a fantastic few day's working and hauling . I remember when I was hauling 6061T CNC 3 times a week with 1600 pounds each load and as soon as they unloaded me they were loading their big van trailers to their melting foundry 40 miles from here . Several trailer loads a day and their foundry was working 24 hours a day . Lots of money constantly going out and coming in . Extremely busy recycling facility that also has a monster steel shredder that sorts vehicles and other merchandise into 11 different types of material . Great video Derek .

    I work for a large underground utility company and we pulled out old phone lines for AT&T. The phone lines are called a (1600 pair) so each little colorful wire is 1 pair. So 1,600 lines wrap really tight. it’s roughly 3” round of solid copper! We pulled out over 2 miles of it. Filled a couple 20 yard dumpsters full. That’s BIG $$$$

Most satisfying parts is when you organize or clean your shop. Least satisfying is when you talk about all you are going to do to the copper-king. Either fix it, witch would be a really good vid, or leave it out. Another good thing is when you film stuff in fast mode, that is also satisfying.

    Have you ever tried cutting with the broken part of jaw on top? It looks like you grab wire easier that way. Also the rear tire on trailer drivers side is getting ready to throw that retread from what I saw after first delivery. Also what's the width and length to rear roller on the Copper King? I'm thinking of making a wood mockup for your V notches. Yes it won't last long but you would be able to cut and adjust the wood to dial in notch design. 😊 💖 from Minnesota

    Fellow Floridaman, young gun, machinist. Buying my own machine tool is still out of reach for me and the corporate trade was a huge disappointment, dei management, HR pussyfootin, incompetence allround. Would be nice to have my own shop like this to process if the work's there, build up to better tooling. Never owned a business or rented out space to work on my own, could I ask a general range of overhead for a space this size? Also if you have specs on that motor you use to run the stripper rig or have shown a build video I'd be interested in that. Little bit south of Tampa area so you don't have to worry about me steppin on your toes.
    Overall interested in small/medium foundry work to pump out material to machine, have scrapped and stripped my chunk of found and discarded, but tensions about the garage space are getting tedious so it's about time I carved out my own. Pops had a heart scare so he's retired a little early, he's a woodworker, but actually had a welder he said I could have, so I'll need to learn that along the way. Thanks for the content, I understand it's not all green eyes, not afraid to work just tired of working too hard for less takehome. Really dig that turtlebeak you got there, though I'm not sure I'll need one for a while, cheers m8, be well eat well. 😁

    • @ProjectShopFl
      @ProjectShopFl  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I buy it from the electricians that pulled it off the job. lol I only buy from the electrical contractors that pull in new wire and have leftovers or are pulling out burned up wire. It's %100 percent not stolen. I would not be involved with it if it was and I would definitely not post it on the internet.

    Just found your channel. Is there a reason you do the stripping at night?

    • @ProjectShopFl
      @ProjectShopFl  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes a few, I live in south Florida and its hot during the day, I pick up the wire during the day and don't like sitting on that much wire so I turn it over by the next day if possible so the price don't drop, I don't like working when all my neighbors are open with all the random customers ( People I don't know ) seeing the amount of copper I have sometimes, and I make TH-cam videos and don't want random people coming by and distracting me. If I have my bay door open during the day people will just walk in thinking I open to the public which I'm not.
