Same here…I’ve watched a lot of videos and Lori is the best teacher by far! I’m looking forward to getting out there and putting these helpful tips to good use.
fantastic video. so many people are just too eager to give up on the simplex without really getting to know it. mine has found me plenty of rubbish BUT also found me two silver hammereds too. 😁
Fantastic. I haven't found any hammereds yet, but that isn't the because of the SImplex, but because I my permissions and area aren't populated enough. I will find one someday, but it will probably be on a dig in the central belt. :)
Couldn't agree more about people being so frustrated they give up, Mr Dark. I am sooo jealous of your hammereds, they are really scarce up in the Highlands, and I will have to wait til Club digs resume to have a chance at getting one. You never know though, there just may be a hammy dropped at my posh house permission, fingers crossed! :D
This is so helpful, thanks so much for making this excellent video! My Simplex+ arrives today and I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning. I've been reading up as much as I can, but an actual hands-on demonstration is always much more effective for me.
Brilliant video, this is the best I have seen it answers a lot of questions, just got a Simplex and you have put me on the right track, cheers big thanks
Wow, thank you so much for this Liz, you have made my day. You, and other new users are the reason I made this, and I am so very glad it is helpful. I spent so many hours watching videos from around the world, reading forums, and asking questions of everyone I met, to get the different bits of information I needed. And then add in the hours and hours I spent out in blizzards, wind, rain, ice cold, you name it, digging holes, to learn what the sounds meant, it took so much time. I wanted to give back to others, what I had learned, so people could enjoy this machine from the start. Please let me know how you get on, and what you are finding. Happy Hunting :D
So took my Bessy (Simplex) out on a picnic area, with owners permission. It was horrible, there was so much noise. So, I decided to rewatch your instruction videos. I will now return to the area on Park 2 and lower the sensitivity. Thanks again.👍👍
Hey lori here daniel from Belgium. I liked your explanation. Make more videos please.... I myself have just bought the Nokta Makro Simplex+ and am very curious. I myself have been searching for years with a Fisher F75 and quite a bit found but was now looking for a somewhat easier detector without all those settings and came out after all the reviews on the Nokta Makro Simplex+, everyone is so praising about it. Thanks for your video again some learned thx
Hi Daniel, thank you for your lovely comments. Welcome to the Simplex family, you've purchased a fantastic machine, but she does need time to learn. Swing lots, listen lots, dig lots. You will dig junk at first, but you will learn the machine the best way possible. :) Happy hunting!
Thank you so much for this video! I very recently got my Simplex+ and appreciate the time you took to help us all. Keep up the good work and enjoy the hunt!
Thanks ever so much for watching, I am glad it was helpful. I was so new to making videos when I did this, I probably need to remake it, lol. It has been a while, but the information is still valid. Knowledge is the important thing with your new Simplex, know that it is fine to tune it down if you need to. Any questions, give me a shout. It may take a few days to reply, but I will! Happy hunting when you get your new toy. :)
Hi Harris, congrats on your new Simplex. Best advice I can give you is to use your new toy- every chance you get. The Simplex pays off time invested. Swing lots, listen lots, dig lots. You will dig junk (and good things too) initially, but you'll soon start to hear differences and be on your way. Happy hunting!
Thanks a LOT for your videos !.. Been out in the fields a few times and basically didn't understand _anything_ of what the simplex + was tellling me. Been digging up mostly ironnails and iron-trash in hope for some coins and other interesting stuff, and kids starting to loose patience :) Thankfully for your videos i now understand what i have done wrong, and will adopt your "training" for tomorrows trip :)
Thank you for this video. Santa brought me this Hot Rod for Christmas. So, I figured I get on TH-cam university to learn how to metal detect (first time). Thus far your video has been best of the all others; you're good at teaching. As a matter of fact, yours is the only one I watched to the end. Will be looking for more. Thanks again! - Louis, Miami, FL.
I needed this channel 3 years ago! Thank you for this. Always being tempted to "upgrade" to a new model or different maker but I've recently just really decided to remain with my Simplex+ and get better at using it. In the moment it is difficult to always remember everything. I am hopeful that your videos will help me remember things better. Thank you!!
I have been hunting for 10 years using White's electronic machines. My new simplex shows up this weekend. Really enjoyed this video looking forward to watching them all,
Thank you so much 😃 the Simplex is a wonderful machine, but she does need time spent learning to avoid frustration and get the best from her. GL and let me know how you get on 😃
I love my simplex with the latest update we do beaches . I have 2 other detectors but to hard to use to many programs and adjustments . Simplex is a turn on a go machine for me.
Hi just bought a simplex+, thanks to you your videos are informative and are really helping me understand the machine, thank you, keep up the good work x
Have been using and trying to learn the Simplex for almost a year... Have learned a lot of little bbn pointers from your video.. subscribed! looking forward to watching more! Thank you!
Brilliant video absolutely enjoyed it. I have watched all the other simplex videos from around theworld and no one goes as in-depth as you do on the problems that you can have setting up and using the simplex metal detector. This machine is not simply a turn on and go machine. Must be tuned properly ground balanced and sensitivities must be set correctly again thank you very much for this video it will help a lot of people out.
Thank you Future. Sorry I've taken so long to comment, I'm just learning that TH-cam doesn't always tell me when there are comments and I have to check every single video to make sure I haven't missed anyone.
Thanks Rob, you get a shout in my next two videos! You are one of the channels I have modelled the video style on, you are calm and measured, explain things really well, show the machine numbers and tones. I love watching your videos, I always learn something new, and now that you have the Nox I will learn more about the other machine in my house too. :D
good to see ground balancing, I was just waiting for one beep after seeing it on another video. i'll certainly be doing it properly now. i was even told to leave it at 90 always! Thanks
Really great video, I am total newby to this I have a simplex of course and my first time detecting was on a organised dig at weekend tones and ids jumping everywhere, dug my first coke and hot rocks and a ton of iron. This video helps a lot 👍🏻
Thank u, brought a simplex last week, tried yesterday at the beach for the first time, unsuccessful, but will watch your beach video, thank u, few things i still need to learn.
Wow... great teaching style.. I really learned a lot about tuning the Simplex.. a lot of other videos show you how they run it, but don't explain why their running that way...
Im very close to purchasing this detector, had a Garrett in the past but it was way to complex and manually configurable. This video was very very helpful, thanks
The signal at 8.40. Personally I would not change programs/modes, I would just dig it. If it has potential I always think it's best to dig it out rather than play with settings. Broken gold, chains, and tricky targets can do that on all detectors, and by the time you have switched settings you could have got it out and moved on? Why look for a reason to walk away when it's just as quick and easy to have it out? Just some food for thought based on my own experiences. ATB MMMD
I bought a Simplex last month, and I am very frustrated, not with the machine; so far, I could not be happier however, I live in central Florida, where we only have 2 seasons, summer and broil. Every day at this time of year, the heat index is at least 105 degrees, most days even worse. I have not yet lasted for more than 15 minutes before gallons of sweat pour from my body. Sadly, it will be at least another 4 months before I get a real chance to use it. Love your videos.
Great! That looks like my machine. Covered in dirt. Well used I can tell! Thanks for the information. Been detecting for 20 years or so, used Simplex for a few. GL and HH!
hello, after seeing many videos of this detector, I bought it, and I could only try it for two hours, but in that short time, I liked it a lot, luckily I found your videos, you are fantastic explaining how we should put the simplex. I will follow your advice. I have already subscribed to your channel. greetings from Spain.
Thank you soooo much I'm still learning with mine I haven't updated mine yet but I think I will now. I can't wait for your beach video I've been on wet sand and after some research went down to 00.0 and got on fairly well I think
When you had the chatter from the pulsedive, just frequency shift the pulse dive. Here’s the instructions from the pulsedive manual how to change it. “FREQUENCY SHIFT It is used to prevent the device from interfering with other detectors nearby. To shift the frequency, press the on-off button while holding the (F) button pressed down. Each time you press the on-off button, a beep will be heard and/or the device will vibrate and the frequency will shift 1 step. There are 40 steps in frequency shift. The central frequency, which is the factory default, is indicated by double beeps / vibrations.”
Afternoon Lori I been watching so many videos about the simplex over 50 coz I got a Garret euro ace but want a simplex as it looks very nice as looks easy to use I’m still a newbie but your videos are more helpful and understanding of all the settings now I can go ahead and order my simplex I’m going for the wireless headset kit thank you so much hope to see more videos from you in the future Thanks antony 👍🏼
Just bought one of these so I will take all teh help I can get as I have never been metal detecting. Thank you for taking the time to do this. 👍👍Subbed.
Had my simplex just before lockdown, so living in Scotland has restricted my using of it. Went out to a friends last Saturday, but only found a couple of buttons.
You are in Scotland too, fabulous. I got mine in January, and virtually spent every moment I could with it. My 1st channel "3 Tones and the Truth" (done just for fun- with my husband) there are videos of me out in a howling blizzard- 🙃. I was nuts. Found it so tough when lockdown started but making up for it now (safely of course!)
I do love my pulse dive pinpointer set up with wireless headphones. But full disclosure I use in tandem with the Garrett Carrot because I tend to use pulse dive at the beach in a watery hole due to its pulse technology. But on land The Carrot gets deeper and I dont have to be as close to a target on my initial dig. So I tend to use the carrot more on land. But my kit now requires both pinpointers to make me happy!!!
mark holbrook And do you use mute for the carrot? When I’m not using my headphones I frequently forget to mute, and the feedback drives me batty. I need to shift the pulse dive sensitivity, I’ve been told it will sort it. But- full disclosure, I can hardly remember what buttons do what. I turn it on, it works, I don’t spend time on it. I should!
Hi, great info thanks. I have the simplex wireless headphones and pulse dive, when I turn on the pointer when detecter is on it docent connect to headphones until I turn off the detecter? Any ideas please
Hi Adam, this is Lori answering from my 3 Tones account. Your headphones not connecting unless your detector is off is quite odd. I think the pairing is off. It seems like the Simplex is overriding the Pulsedive. Which did you purchase first? If you had the Simplex first, then maybe the answer is to re-pair them both. I paired my Simplex first, as I had it first. I added the Pulsedive about a month after the Simplex. I would factory reset the Simplex, update and re- pair the headphones and pointer..
1. Turn on by pressing the power button 2. Once the Simplex logo appears on screen, press and hold the settings button and pinpoint button simultaneously until 3 short beeps are heard. Then follow instructions to update the detector back to 2.77 or 2.78 (whichever you prefer). Pair the headphones, then the Pulsedive. Its a pain in the neck, but perhaps this reboot will sort out the problem. If it does, it will be worth the effort. Sorry you are having the trouble, hopefully it is just a software glitch and that will be the end of it.
Thank you for your new channel. I sure learned a lot. I have a brother who just got a Simplex for Christmas. Will tell him about your channel. Will subscribe.
Thank you Michael, I've done many more videos since this one, please look through the listing, all topics are covered. Congratulations on your new Hot Rod Detector :)
Absolutely, and you want to do that. That is how the pulsedive mutes the Simplex when you turn it on. It is brilliant, when you turn the pulsedive on, the sound comes into your headphones, and the Simplex goes silent. When you turn the pulsedive off, the Simplex comes back into your headphones. If you don't have the wireless headphones, you will still need to use the mute button. And don't let your headphones run out if charge, everything unpairs and must be linked again. Thanks for your question! Stay safe. :)
Thank you Lori, I have just purchased this detector and this VID really will help me I am sure. But Nokta has just came out with another update which is 278... and I was wondering if you have updated to this setting and if so do you see any important difference in the operating? Should I just stay with 277 version till I get familiar with it? Thank you a lot of questions. LOL!
Hi Harry, I'm sorry I missed your comment last week. Have you seen the videos I've done on 2.77 vs 2.78? I recommend 2.77, as you get all the information the machine can give, and if it is too much in certain situations, you can always turn it down. If you change to 2.78, you will lose the vdi that may be useful in quieter fields.
I would advise staying with 2.77, swing lots, listen and look at the vdi lots, dig lots. You'll get trash at first, but you will learn the best way possible. Turn sensitivity down to 6 (or even 5) abd run it on park 1 or 2. Use the discrimination first. Its more important to a beginner than depth. Happy hunting!
You absolutely correct James, I agree completely. However, the Pulsedive is complicated, and if someone is only just learning the Simplex, that adds a step into their experience that is unnecessary- at first. And not all have a Pulsedive, or the headphones, so it is good to show them how to use mute, if they don't. :) I've confessed in my part 2 video that I do not use the PulseDive to the most of its ability, I simply haven't bothered, as it is complicated, and I would rather be out detecting than messing with frequencies. But I am going to read up on it, in preparation for another video, and will try to determine the frequency that the SImplex will tolerate. I did test out a few pinpointers (Nokta pointer and a Gpointer), and research frequencies, and the Pulsedive at factory setting is not on the Simple frequncy, yet she detects it. Will be interesting to see if I can find one that works with her- and how it affects the Pulsedive's performance (if at all). Thanks for your comment- it is a good point. :)
Hi Laura, i have since April last year the Simplex as well. Yesterday i had a big Problem: no sound anymore while swinging over targets. I am not in mute mode. Loudness in on 2. It started with grunching in the Pinpointer Mode, then a loud beep, and that was it. Vibration is working . Could it be the loudspeaker? Best regards from Germany.
Laura thanks for the info on the Simplex starting and tuning I bought mine mid October and have only maybe 5 hrs on it due to my job as a first responder. I have a lot to learn about my Hot rod as you call it. Have you tired the sp 24 coil and would you recommend it? I do have the sniper coil for the Simplex.
Hi there it's nice video thanks ! I have box 800 it's good but not working if there black rock stone and I'm living in middle East in Jordan and all my country full of black rock stone what is the best detector for black rock stone . And what you think about samplex
With the simplex how do I adjust the sensitivity down its on full I'm in a verry trashy iron infested site with high mineral as well as parts of the site have being burned with lots of rock an brick underground It's a good site as I've found flat buttons with my bounty hunter 3300 An the site is situated between a revolution front an a civil war encampment
Shawn scott Hi Shawn. Once you have ground balanced, (if you can with all the trash), use the up arrow (if you on 2.7x) to get back to main screen. If you have 2.6x then just wait til it times out to main screen. Choose whatever mode you want to use by using the left and right arrows. Once you get to a mode you want to use, use the up and down arrow to increase or decrease the bars shown on the left hand side of the screen. That is your sensitivity. IF you change mode, your sensitivity will change to the last that you had it on that mode at. So say you had Field on lvl 6 and change to park 1. Your sensitivity will be on lvl 7, until you change it. If you change park 1 to level 5 (for instance), then go back to field, your sensitivity will change back to the lvl 6 you had it in before. It stays at 7 until you change it. Once you change it, it stays there until you change it again- FOR EACH MODE. Good luck on your site, sounds like it is a great place find really interesting things!
Informative video thx! However at around 09:35 you're saying that switching to Park 1 gives slightly more info.. whereas a while earlier in this video I wrote down using Park 2 can be more useful because of more info but less depth... which one is it? hahah. TY!
One of the best how to videos for the simplex that i have watched.
Thank you for your loveky words.
Now there is a new 'basics' video to compare it to. Feedback very much welcomed. :)
Agreed and I have watched many
I agree. New subscriber. Brilliant, simple teaching
I agree👍
Thank you so much
Amazing tutorial
I am trying to pre-learn lol before I even order my first machine. You are an excellent teacher. Thanks and havagudun Lori.
Same here…I’ve watched a lot of videos and Lori is the best teacher by far! I’m looking forward to getting out there and putting these helpful tips to good use.

Cheers Tim, Happy Hunting. Let me know what sorts of things you find where you are. :D
This is why I watch your vids your the best teacher
Good work Lori. Plenty of new users on FB that would benefit from seeing this.

Hi. I have nokta simplex, and this is the best review I've seen so far. Thanks.
Quite helpful and probably need to see your video again. A full demonstration of the Hand Held Pin- Pointer video would be as well helpful. Thank you.
Hi just bought a simplex+, thanks to you your videos are informative and are really helping me understand the machine, thank you, keep up the good work x
I love people that give useful and clear information. I think that this will be my first detecgor.
You’re a great teacher! Thanks again from Ithaca NY

Very good video. Watched this and went out in my yard just to test it, already finding coins. Can't wait to go hit some sites... Thank you.
Thank u, brought a simplex last week, tried yesterday at the beach for the first time, unsuccessful, but will watch your beach video, thank u, few things i still need to learn.
Thank you so much. This is the first video that has been helpful. You broke it down better then any other video has done.
Had my simplex+ go nutty yesterday on my first beach hunt-definitely happy to learn how to manage the settings! Thank you!
I've also got an in depth guide on here, and a beach tutorial too. If you are using the Simplex on the beach, you will need the beach one!

Just got my Simplex about weeks ago and I’m a newbie. Lovely clear and informative video thanks you very much.
Looking forward to your beach video and all your other ones.
Let me know what you think, always glad to hear constructive feedback. Hope the videos help! :)

Simplex is pretty great that's for sure! And for the price? WOW! Very nice detailed video, keep up the great work.
I’ve got the simplex , I’ve used it for finding out arrows at the archery club when we’re outdoors
Thank you! Excellent explanation, I'm definitely considering purchasing as my first detector.
Afternoon Lori I been watching so many videos about the simplex over 50 coz I got a Garret euro ace but want a simplex as it looks very nice as looks easy to use I’m still a newbie but your videos are more helpful and understanding of all the settings now I can go ahead and order my simplex I’m going for the wireless headset kit thank you so much hope to see more videos from you in the future
Thanks antony 👍🏼
Looking forward to seeing more videos on the Simplex, Seems like a great machine for the money!
How far will this machine break down? What I mean is, if I'm gonna fly (travel), can I fit it in a suitcase?
Great vid thank you I just got a simplex and struggling with the constant chatting signals 👍
Just bought one of these so I will take all teh help I can get as I have never been metal detecting. Thank you for taking the time to do this. 👍👍Subbed.
Thanks for the great video!
just found your video , great information, wish I had found it earlier. thank you. Looking forward to others
Thank you so much Delsie, so glad it helped. How long have you had your Simplex? :)
I'm in the boarders. I will look at your other video's on 3 tones & the truth. Thanks@@thesimplexguru1263
I should!
So glad I found this...i been struggling.... subscribed...
Thanks very much I will give it a go
Thank you for your new channel. I sure learned a lot. I have a brother who just got a Simplex for Christmas. Will tell him about your channel. Will subscribe.
Thank you Michael, I've done many more videos since this one, please look through the listing, all topics are covered. Congratulations on your new Hot Rod Detector :)
@@thesimplexguru1263Yes, I know. Have seen some of them already.
This is the most informative video on the EX + very well done.
🤘🏼😎 #dirtfishingKnowledge
Nice video thanks for the info, just toying with my new simplex in my garden just now and you've helped me understand the basics every well
Thank you very much for this informative video x I just got a simplex + so trying to learn as much as possible x
Can you pair both the pulsedive and the simplex to the wireless headphones at the sametime?
Absolutely, and you want to do that. That is how the pulsedive mutes the Simplex when you turn it on. It is brilliant, when you turn the pulsedive on, the sound comes into your headphones, and the Simplex goes silent. When you turn the pulsedive off, the Simplex comes back into your headphones. If you don't have the wireless headphones, you will still need to use the mute button.
And don't let your headphones run out if charge, everything unpairs and must be linked again. Thanks for your question! Stay safe. :)
You could clean your unit on the Simplex it would make it more visible poor grubby thing
Hi Lori from Melbourne Australia
Purchase a cheap mic muffler.. It blocks wind noise..... Thanks for your help..
The PulseDive has 40 levels of frequency offset, so it can be adjusted to not interfere with the Simplex+. There is no need to hut the mute button.
I've confessed in my part 2 video that I do not use the PulseDive to the most of its ability, I simply haven't bothered, as it is complicated, and I would rather be out detecting than messing with frequencies.
Great info, thanks for making this video. Your a good coach.
Best regards from Germany.
check coil is connected!
Very helpfull thank you.
Thank you, glad it was useful. I just want to help folks learn their machines to get the best from them 😃
Wonderful helpful video! Thank you!

And what you think about samplex
Box 800
Thank You for the helpful and informative information
With the simplex how do I adjust the sensitivity down its on full I'm in a verry trashy iron infested site with high mineral as well as parts of the site have being burned with lots of rock an brick underground
It's a good site as I've found flat buttons with my bounty hunter 3300
An the site is situated between a revolution front an a civil war encampment
Thanks for this. Got one on order.
Iv a sim light. Have you any tips. Maybe there similar,
Great video, very informative and helpful.
Informative video thx! However at around 09:35 you're saying that switching to Park 1 gives slightly more info.. whereas a while earlier in this video I wrote down using Park 2 can be more useful because of more info but less depth... which one is it? hahah. TY!
Park 2 has more separation between targets and less depth. Then she went back to Park 1 when she wanted more information about what she had found.
