Pixels death is more concerning than burning.
Imagine 2 dead pixels somewhere close to center. For the warranty it won't be enough but it will annoy you so much.

That’s awesome! I was thinking of moving on from LG because it felt a little too much of a data collection ecosystem, but I love OLED and burn in coverage is a tempting feature to stick around for. I’m interested to see more about these lg oled monitors, tv functions are just dead weight for me these days and I’m sure me and LG could enjoy forgoing those cost’s together. Ha ha

Pixel cleaning excessively wears down the panel. You shouldn't run it, "just because". I mean do what you want, but it IS hard on the panel. It's meant to help it wear down evenly as well as preventing burn in.

OLED Gaming Monitors are still fairly new, in general I'm skeptical to adapt the first gen of a new product line. This LG OLED burn-in warranty sure is a good thing, and it may be a sign that burn-in is not that big of a deal anymore (at least on LG WOLED panels for PC Monitors).
Still, as OLED Gaming Monitors are rolling out to consumers in larger quantities, we would over time get more and more actual data of how prone those monitors are to burn-in under various usage scenarios. Usually tech improves on later iterations, but OLED coming to PC Monitors at last must be an indicator that burn-in is not that big of a deal anymore.
Personally I don't think OLED Gaming Monitors would be a bad choice for the average gamers, who just play a few games like CS, WoW and such but are in general disinterested in more tech savvy things such as PC troubleshooting, programming, PC research, a need for constantly expanding their computer knowledge and so on. In other words less exposed to static images than the average "geek".
If OLED Monitors get recommended for office use later on, that would mean that burn-in really is a thing of the past. Being a geek myself, I'm casually optimistic, but I don't want to get burned.

I had a C7, it was a beautiful TV but in less than a year it was riddled with burn in even though I was neurotically obsessed with babying it to the point of not being able to enjoy my experience.
I suffered with it until I sold it off and picked up a QN90A which has been a pretty solid tv.
I would definitely consider picking up another OLED if they either figured out burn in or gave such a great warranty as that.

They have figured it out lol😂 The C7 is like 7 years old, the only ones to burn in still are the qd oleds because they're relatively new. Also it is important to keep in mind demographic as well. The type of people in the market for oled tvs are in the $1500+ tier, that kind of consumer A) doesn't mind paying a premium for the best and therefore B) very likely to upgrade/replace sooner than the typical person, further negating the worry for burn in.

15% of poll takers on reddit of over thousand users got burn in in less than 1yr for the Alienware awf and aw. But that monitor is a lot more prone to burn in than LG OLED displays, and maybe even the s95b. 2 years is a very short time but at least it prevents early death.

Exactly and those Alienware QDOLEDs have 3 year warranty. So LG with just 2 years is silly and just to look good without a risk to themselves.
WOLED has less burn in risk in the same early time frame. Especially now with their Deuterium panels. This warranty only has any real meaning if it's 4 year coverage.

You will NEVER see this type of warranty coverage extended to TVs and here's why. People will know that all they have to do is wait until the very end of that warranty period and then just intentionally burn an image into their screen (by letting a static image sit on it 24x7 for 30 days) just before the warranty coverage expires and they can then get their old TV replaced with a new one for free. LG knows this and since they sell FAR more OLED TVs than they do OLED computer monitors, the financial risk they would be taking on by doing this would be much too great. Sadly, there are just far too many unscrupulous people out there that would just be looking to "game" the system if this type of coverage was offered.

Why aren't you addressing the fact that a 2 year warranty is pointless when it comes to burn in on an LG OLED. 99% of all TVs/monitors would only have risk of burn in AFTER 2 years, leaving the warranty useless and as smokescreen to "look good", but be useless.
Who in their right mind buys an expensive OLED monitor or an OLED TV to only plan to keep it for 2 years. Because that is the only "safe" period with that warranty.
If it was minimum of 4-5 years then it would make sense. Then the value of having bought either would make more sense. It could be a warranty only covering the panel and not all the electronics.
So 1 year parts labour everything, 4-5 additional years for panel replacement due to potential burn in.
Alienware even has a 3 year specific burn in warranty on their QDOLED monitors. That at least start to enter into the timeframe when burn in does creep in depending on usage.
LG doesn't trust their own technology not to burn in over the years. Yet so many TH-camrs stand there and proclaim "don't worry about OLED burn in anymore". Then they replace their own OLED equipment every 2 years. Sigh!!!!!

@@ClosestNearUtopia I hear ya 👍.. I suppose it's kind of like buying a kia, an overpriced car and average at best.

@@Ozjoker420. hmm mayb, the difference is, buying a KIA feels like an expensive gamble, while samsung, the oh so praised samsung, should not be a brand where you can expect crack quality, or it should not be praised like everyone does… i expect hella more of samsung products with the reputation they have, i already stopped buying them, total ripoffs.

More insulting than doing nothing at all. If there’s some new magical way to stop oled burn in it should be on every display, if they are just replacing panels they could have been doing that this whole time. I’d like to buy something better than s lcd tv but buying a tv with a known fundamental design flaw that renders it useless as soon as a week after purchase is just stupid

Best Buy 5 year warranty will take care of that. Burn in is getting better.

The fact that we as consumers have to tell LG how to handle their policies in a sensible way is sadly a reflection of their status as a whole in the AV community, they've been losing touch for several years, its painful to watch because all of 6-8 years ago they were absolutely king, hell my personal favorite at one point, the top suggestion i had for any customer walking into Best Buy looking for quality at a decent price, Samsung wouldn't even cross my lips, till QD-OLED stepped up to bat and broke records with ease 🥹
