I would agree with everything said here. I was super paranoid about burn-in before I bought my first LG B8 OLED (a 2018 model). But here we are, over 5000 hrs later... and nothing - the screen shows zero evidence of image retention whatsoever. And it was even a refurb! I take care of it, for sure - but do use it heavily for TV streaming, movies, video games and a Mac Mini. And now I have two new C1's (a 65" and a 77"), same kind of usage - no problems either. OLED has definitely spoiled me, I can't watch anything else now.
Awesome Sauce. I Have the Cx And No Burn in at all even with ABSL turned off.I dont use the tv all the time i am not a heavy user generally speaking. But for computer use it would be a different story.
I used to worry about my C1 burning in, now I just enjoy it. Tons of gaming and movie watching, still not a hint of burn in. Best display I have ever owned by far.
Yeah, I’ve never had a single issue with burn in and I watch a lot of sports which can sometimes have an issue because of the tickers at the bottom, so I agree with your assessment and it’s a relief that it’s not an issue as much as it used to be for sure!
The problem for me is that I don't want to babysit my TV, I want to be free to watch the same content all day long and not have to change it every few hours. Personally I usually play video games a lot on my days off, I'm not lying when I say that in those days I can be more than 10 hours playing and sometimes the same game, and often retro games that are the ones that have more fixed icons (time, score, life bar etc.). So in my case OLEDs are still not a viable option and even if the burnin did not exist even so the LEDs are going to die and I'm used to a TV that will last me for many more years, I prefer the mini LED for now.
LED's aren't going to just die. they can last up to 100.000 hours. but the burn in is always a risk. if it wasn't a risk it would have been covered by the warranty. it's that simple.
My first tv was Lg 55UK6300 with VA Panel and after 3 years of hard usage (gaming on PC and Xbox one i had to change because of a lot burn places! Now im using 65C1 almost a year in exactly the same way as previous tv. Will see the results in the future :)
I had a C8 that had image retention and I did pixel enhancer thing through the TV and it clean out the image. But I got worried and returned it because it happen I week from purchased. OLED picture change the way I look a image quality on a TV so after seeing what it could do it was hard not to get back in the OLED train. So after your review of the C1 when it came out I bought that one and so far whatever change LG made to their panels has worked. I have had no issue with my C1 which is the main TV in the house for gaming and movies.
I have burn-in on my 2018 LG C8, I use it with my HTPC, running Windows 10 in dark mode, with red contrast. the task bar (that I keep set on hidden) and VLC logo from my media player have both burned into the red spectrum over the years. Started noticing it around 2021. I keep a screen saver set at 5 minutes, the computer goes to sleep after 15 minutes, desktop images rotate through slideshow, and I have desktop icons disabled. Hopefully newer TVs are better at mitigating this issue because I tried to prevent it and it still happened.
Have the C1 also, gets heavy use for TV and Xbox by my kids ( sometimes I get a turn 😎) looks fantastic with no burn in. I wouldn't hesitate to tell someone to use it without fear.
Do you think the 2023 new Sony QD OLED “A95K” will be more “burn in proof”? My 2017 LG OLED has a blue band burn in at the bottom part of the screen. 😪 And looking to upgrade.
My lg OLED from 2016 has a ton of burn in, especially reds. I can say though that when you’re gaming and images are moving you don’t notice it, and it’s only visible when certain colors are on screen or it’s a colorful game like a nintendo game. That being said I’m looking to upgrade this year as 7 years is typically my sweet spot for upgrading a tv. I’ve loved my tv though and will never go back to anything but OLED. I mean I got 7 yrs out of it before I really noticed burn, and back in 2016 it was still an early technology for consumers. From personal experience I can say DO NOT fret and worry about burn in, it’s not that bad and it took me 6-7 years.
I'm finally done with my 6 year old 55" curved LGC6. My burn-in started back in 2018, which includes TH-cam, Netflix, PC benchmarks, Planet Coaster toolbar and etc. all burned-in. That said, I do understand that tech has improved since my C6 purchase, but I had a Dell XPS computer connected to a 50" LG Plasma back in 2007, with pixel shifting, and never got any burn-in on it nor any on my other LG Plasma. So does the pixel shifting just not do a very good job on an OLED? Also, I have an entry level TV arriving tomorrow, sort of a 5-6 month temporary TV until I get my project car done and sold, then I'll get back to you on top of line suggestions. Anyways, my entry level set is a Pioneer Branded 55" made by Taiwanese - Compal Electronics, which uses a TCL VA panel, and has HDR, Dolby Vision and DTS-X. for $269.99. I'm gonna spend some time on the settings to see what kind of pic I can get out of it... should be fun.
That’s kinda why I went for the $700 C1 rather than the $2200 s95b way back then, I don’t want to baby the tv so if my c1 gets burn in then it’s not the end of the world.
i have never seen burn on my sony oled but i have a samsung s 10 plus phone and i have noticed some image retention you realy have to look for it but its there lines up perfectly with the you tube time bar under the video do they use different types of screens

I bought a s95b about a week ago upgraded from a su8000 from about 8 years ago. TV is mind bending in picture clarity and color. The speakers are great. I hear all this about the software which is sad to know but it's so much better then my old set. I'm so happy with it

Quantum TV nice informative video. I read all the reviewers tips on OLED's when I got my LG CX. I was a little concerned so decided to do a breakin peroid, reasoning that OLED elements may be damaged when over heated new out of the box. I let it run one hundred hours on mixed content in std picture mode before hookup to the PC. Its performed perfectly.
I purchased a OLED55B6P in 2017 and got a horrible burn-in (burn-ins from game menu graphics, center turning green) in 2021. I'd love to purchase a new one but I'm still apprehensive of the tech since my kids use it a lot for gaming. I'm interested in getting LG - 77" Class A2 or B Series because that's in my price range.
I'm a retired RF engineer and TV stations DON"T USE OLED or PLASMA screens except for COLOR CALIBRATION. We had decades of burn-in on CRT's screens and LCD screens proved the best option for us in the industry. But for people that watch TV in a light controlled room and especially movie viewing OLED is perfect. Not For me tough.
My sony master series a9 48 inch oled tv is starting to show signs of image retention from a logo - visible in light purple, but not visible in other other colors.
I own a LG CX 55” Series X and ps5 gaming ALOT! I bought it used from a liquidation center and after buying I realized it had 4,000 hours on it and I got so scared. Should I be worried? I don’t notice any sign of burn in. Like at all. Or should I return it within the 90 day warranty and try to get one with lower hours? My t.v probably was a floor model or something but I’m sure 4,000 hours is a lot lol
I have owned three Panasonic plasmas which were heavily used and never suffered any burn in. My sony a1e however does from gaming and general burn in on the centre mass of the screen. My current lg cx is fine. So 1out of 5 aint bad but now that it is time to upgrade I am feeling very cautious due to wanting to go up to 77 inches with the cost. I prefer the Sony or Samsung but that RTings burn in test and my personal burn in experience has given me a lot to think about.
had a B6 for 5 years, massive burn in one year in and LG replaced the panel for free. 3 years into the new panel and it did it again. I bought a Samsung QLED over the 2022 holidays, decent picture but nothing like the OLED. I'm still not sure if I'll ever go back. This video really didn't do much to change my mind about it though.
the 6-8 series are most prone to burn in. the X series onward are significantly better due to better encapsulation of the organic compound, more efficient electric current management, and new burn in features. you can always wait but life is passing you by. oled tech has drastically evolved from the 6 series oled line.
Watch Fox Business most of day, with ticker tape always running along bottom of screen. Had an older Sony with lamps in back and image burned in on the ticker tape line. I am sure an OLED would do the same. That’s why I bought a Samsung QN90A 75”, and love it.
I bought a high end 55" LG 3-D OLED TV about 6 years ago (retail $5000). I am careful never to leave it on when not watching or leave a static image on there but still about a year ago started seeing some. My warranty had just run out but thought I'd contact LG anyway and see what they said. They had me send a pic of the screen and their rep said "yeah that shouldn't have happened already, we'll take care of it and call you back in about 3 days". Waited 3 days, no call, waited another 2 days, no call so I called them and they changed their mind, were not going to fix it at all. No more OLED for me and I'll never buy anything from LG again.

Quantum all I see are oled owners talking about how many hours there tv has like how many miles are in you’re car that’s what it reminds me of. Should we limit our time with our oleds? I have a 77” C1 but I also have my x900e and it’s strange seeing so many talk about how many hours they have.
I dont give a shit what people say. Until companies actually come out and include the possibility of burn in, in their warranty, it's still a thing. People keep saying it's rare and all that crap but if it's rare then why won't they cover it with the warranty? Dumb

Honestly I bought a Samsung s95b. It is a beautiful panel, but I got so nervous about burn in I just gave it to my mom. I play Madden A LOT and the static images of the game made me so nervous I just gave it away. I'd love to have and keep a great oled, but worrying about the burn in sucks. Especially knowing how much I play Madden and NBA 2k. Anyone else avid Madden or NBA 2k gamers that can vouch for any oled that you really don't need to stress over?
I play games like Tekken and Street Fighter for hours. Had a 2015 Oled and experienced burn in. Went to Full Array Led and haven't looked back. Is it really not an issue for heavy content?
I agree with pretty much everything. I would add that the biggest problem with burn-in is the blue color, if you get the panel calibrated, you reduce the risk of burn-in. Also, lower brightness helps a lot too. I was scared of OLED for a long time but a few months back I bought an LG C2 42" as my main monitor and I'm thrilled. I have an older 32" UHD monitor for a lot of static content and basically just play games, watch videos, or work in Blender on the LG. I don't regret anything so far.
Seems like the models that get burn ins are mostly pre-2018? My C7 from 2017 has terrible burn in and it all started in the past year. For the first 5 years, I watched only blu-rays and some Netflix no burn in, but after my old LCD tv in the bedroom died, I moved the C7 to the bedroom, and started using it heavily. Within a month I stared seeing burn ins even just from watch news 1 hour a day, and then the Netflix logo at the bottom right, youtuble logo at the upper right, all kinds burn in from titles, thumbnails. I also watch volleyball on it, so the score box is burnt in as well. Granted, the TV is on like 14 hours a day since I moved it to the bedroom. My C2 that I bought last year, so far has no burn ins but then again, I only watch blu-rays on it. So I don't know. I'm still very much afraid of burn in. When my C7 dies, I will buy a miniLed to replace it.
If you got the XR-A90K series OLED then you have the most up to date OLED panel as of right now PERIOD. Not to mention, the A90K OLED is a "Master series" Bravia and in it's size classes of either 42" and 48" it is considered a "flagship model". Yes the A95K takes the cake for the larger display sizes but the A90K is its little buff brother! There is not a better 42" or 48" OLED tv out on the market right now! Enjoy your Master series SONY OLED tv brother! I have the same one(48"). Though burn in may not be a big issue any longer with the modern OLEDs, I still take precautions like keeping the pixels refreshed by switching viewing material pretty frequently. Example; game for 1 hour, switch to a movie for 90 minutes, then switch to TH-cam 4K HDR content for 45 minutes etc... You get the picture! You gotta keep things MOVING... Peace out!

Their tvs last a long time too my last bravia is 10 years old still works and i gave it to my mom to replace her broken samsung she loves it
I had the same fears, but I finally decided it’s time, and got a Sony A80J. No probs with burn in, and the PQ mops the floor with any QLED I’ve ever seen - and that’s saying something, because I’ve seen some really great ones! Get an OLED, set it to BT2020, tweak it to your liking, and you will smile every time you turn it on.
I have over 5200 hours on my LG C1 that I use for a PC monitor and I do lots of video editing on it and have no sign of issues whatsoever. Far as I can tell, the risk of burn-in on a modern OLED is no worse than it was on a CRT, yes it's possible but only under extreme situations that 99.9% wont experience.
Can I ask you what is the brightness level of your C1 when using it as a PC monitor? I've heard a lot of people only set it to around 30%, which seems way to dim to me on my C2.
I've been using an LG CX 48" as my daily driver for a bit over 3 years and I have burn-in from icons on my desktop and I have the dreaded dirty screen as well. But I know why that I have it as well as how to avoid it in the future & it doesn't bother me too much. Next week I'm buying an LG C3 and I'm going to utilize what I've learned to make sure that the screen stays clear for as long as possible. Either way, I've enjoyed my LG CX and if I have to replace my TV every so often, that's just the price of admission to have the best screen in the business.
I just got a new tv, it works fine when watching cable or streaming. But when i play ps5 theres a stuck pixel that appears randomly and depending on the screen will disappear and reappear while playing…. When i change back to cable it goes away. Im debating if i should return as its only 10 days old or living with it
I haven’t a dead pixel and a stuck pixel like you on my 3 week old tv so I return to Samsung and they gave me a new one and for now it’s all good.. for now
I have an LG B7 too burned in soo bad cuz of FIFA, but don't forget that B7 was introduced in 2017 which is now 7 years old and the technology and the panels are so much better now than 6 years ago.
No worries on the G2 - it has 5 year panel warranty from LG. The heat sink is the big difference. If your panel goes bad, all you pay for is labor. I checked that out and it would cost me $180 in labor with a new panel. Good to go....
I love you honesty and your channel. I am in the market for a big TV. I am almost sold on a OLED tv. I was watching ESPN and saw the banner that was running at the bottom. Should I not worry about that when watching sports in the fall? Is there a QLED tv that would come close to black levels where I would not have to worry about the burn in at all? Proud owner of a huge 83 inch C2...never had a problem till now..i have de tv 1.5 years and its still going strong..i do play everyday on consoles..watch tv with logo . movies..on a daily basis and nothing...i think you are right..we have gotten to a point that this technology is way ahead and if u use the things that oled manufacturers say , all the preventiung stuff that is on the tv you should not have anny problems whatsoever with BurnIN..stay safe and peace out brothers!!!

I wonder if the 65 inch is more susceptible to burn in than a 55 inch for the S95B that we're both using (you got the 65 and the 55 if I remember). Because it's bigger. Maybe your past experiences with the 55 inch doesn't prepare 65 inch users enough. I feel like I'm sounding cliché like... so, Size matters?
TH-cam logo burned my leg OLED. I was very careful when it was there, changing channels occasionally to change the image but it burned in pretty badly.
I heavily play Genshin Impact and have been for the past 3 years. I've owned the Lg C1 for about 2 years. When I switch to a full blue screen, I definitely see burn in with the ui. i do pixel refresh every recommended 2000 hours.
got burn in on my A90K sony from 2022 after one month use as a PC monitor..... and only used it 2-3 hours a day....... watched sports and movies daily after those 3 hours of PC use. garbage TV
Ya, but what if your screen stays on a single image, like apple TV home, a paused CNN picture, etc. on the screen and leave your home? You come back 9 hours later to find the image still on the screen, and wa la, burn in. So, I'd say for people like me with 2 kids and a grandmother who can't control the TV, an LCD is probably best because they can take the abuse or accidental left on scenario. But, correct me if I'm wrong.
I play mmo wow eso ect sometimes 12 14 hours straight i use my computer only no TV i dont even watch movies just u tube an game id be scared to get oled im still useing my sony 900e great tv np with it still running like the champ

Just found this. Thought I would chip-in. I have an LG C8. Close to 13,000 hours. Certainly love the set for movies. I noticed burn in about 6 months ago. It's gotten worse. You can see the static areas from CNN, CBC Newsworld, BNN Bloomberg. My next set will not be OLED. The new mini-LEDs are getting pretty good now.
I don’t get why is this even an issue. Just buy a 5 years warranty extension if it’s available at your store (and be sure it does cover burn-in) then you’re good to go. You’ll probably change your monitor in 5 years anyway soooooo
but bro, it seems you have been using 3 OLED TVs over the last 3-4 years? if that is so, that's like 1 year each. how many hours of usage do you have on each? the thing is, most people probably want to buy just ONE oled and use it for at least 4-5 years. and since the effect is cumulative, it does sound like a risk (especially if you plan to also use it as a PC monitor and game on it). But at the same time... I'm buying an oled this year for sure and here's the reasoning not many people mention: regular TVs have flaws from the day one! flashlighting, washed out blacks and blooming are unavoidable, and those things are worse than the burn-in (if burn-in ever happens)! Basically out of fear that our oled will MAYBE have a FLAW in future, we decide to buy a TV that ALREADY has many even worse FLAWS. I'm just waiting to see if C3 is worth it. going for the 55" and planning to spend no more than $1.100-1.200
I have over 5200 hours on my C1 that I use for a PC monitor. I do lots of video editing on it every single day and don't even have the slightest hint of a a problem. Also LG rates their panels for 100,000 hours of use which in my case would take me close to 20 years to reach and I use my screen heavily. Burn-in on OLEDs aren't any more of a problem than they were on CRTs, just use some common sense and you wont have any issues.
@@MistyKathrine 5200 hours ain't that much, though. i work from home and would get to 5200 hours in a year or so. it's so hard to know if any oled can take 4-5 years of intense usage. 100.000 hours doesn't mean much when burn in is sure to happen much sooner, no matter how you use the tv. it's not that other tv technologies will survive that much either. but yeah, thanks for the info. it's still encouraging. how much of the time it's on do you effectively use it as a pc monitor, though? do you take some precautions?
check again after 5years time , usually when the extended guaranty runs out. My LG OLED B7 which i bought in 2018 has burn in on the netflix progress bar area after 5 years. I had an LCD for 12 years running optimally , sure the colors were crap but it lasted that long. If new OLEDs still go bad after 5years with burn in or panel degradation in my opinion it's not worth it for daily heavy use. Sure go ahead and get one for movies only , but I don't think it's worth having as a daily used pc monitor.
I have a Sony A80L 77, bought in July. After watching maybe 30 hours of “ Last Call “ on CNBC, for 45 minutes or so, over say 45 days, I have some burn in, or retention. Shows up mainly in light grey background scenes. I have not watched any other news programs, and stopped this as soon as I noticed the problem. That was a month ago, and has not gone away, so I guess its there for good. Certainly not the all day, nothing but news programs, viewing habit discussed in this and other posts.

Not seeing pixel deterioration means its being "aged" while sleeping..

When people talk about burn it's usually 2-3 years of testing. What if I want my new OLED to be a 10-year TV?

That said, I do understand that tech has improved since my C6 purchase, but I had a Dell XPS computer connected to a 50" LG Plasma back in 2007, with pixel shifting, and never got any burn-in on it nor any on my other LG Plasma. So does the pixel shifting just not do a very good job on an OLED?
Also, I have an entry level TV arriving tomorrow, sort of a 5-6 month temporary TV until I get my project car done and sold, then I'll get back to you on top of line suggestions. Anyways, my entry level set is a Pioneer Branded 55" made by Taiwanese - Compal Electronics, which uses a TCL VA panel, and has HDR, Dolby Vision and DTS-X. for $269.99. I'm gonna spend some time on the settings to see what kind of pic I can get out of it... should be fun.
That’s kinda why I went for the $700 C1 rather than the $2200 s95b way back then, I don’t want to baby the tv so if my c1 gets burn in then it’s not the end of the world.
i have never seen burn on my sony oled but i have a samsung s 10 plus phone and i have noticed some image retention you realy have to look for it but its there lines up perfectly with the you tube time bar under the video do they use different types of screens

I bought a s95b about a week ago upgraded from a su8000 from about 8 years ago. TV is mind bending in picture clarity and color. The speakers are great. I hear all this about the software which is sad to know but it's so much better then my old set. I'm so happy with it

Quantum TV nice informative video. I read all the reviewers tips on OLED's when I got my LG CX. I was a little concerned so decided to do a breakin peroid, reasoning that OLED elements may be damaged when over heated new out of the box. I let it run one hundred hours on mixed content in std picture mode before hookup to the PC. Its performed perfectly.

I purchased a OLED55B6P in 2017 and got a horrible burn-in (burn-ins from game menu graphics, center turning green) in 2021. I'd love to purchase a new one but I'm still apprehensive of the tech since my kids use it a lot for gaming. I'm interested in getting LG - 77" Class A2 or B Series because that's in my price range.
I'm a retired RF engineer and TV stations DON"T USE OLED or PLASMA screens except for COLOR CALIBRATION. We had decades of burn-in on CRT's screens and LCD screens proved the best option for us in the industry. But for people that watch TV in a light controlled room and especially movie viewing OLED is perfect. Not For me tough.

Series X and ps5 gaming ALOT! I bought it used from a liquidation center and after buying I realized it had 4,000 hours on it and I got so scared. Should I be worried? I don’t notice any sign of burn in. Like at all. Or should I return it within the 90 day warranty and try to get one with lower hours? My t.v probably was a floor model or something but I’m sure 4,000 hours is a lot lol

I have owned three Panasonic plasmas which were heavily used and never suffered any burn in. My sony a1e however does from gaming and general burn in on the centre mass of the screen. My current lg cx is fine. So 1out of 5 aint bad but now that it is time to upgrade I am feeling very cautious due to wanting to go up to 77 inches with the cost. I prefer the Sony or Samsung but that RTings burn in test and my personal burn in experience has given me a lot to think about.
had a B6 for 5 years, massive burn in one year in and LG replaced the panel for free. 3 years into the new panel and it did it again. I bought a Samsung QLED over the 2022 holidays, decent picture but nothing like the OLED. I'm still not sure if I'll ever go back. This video really didn't do much to change my mind about it though.
the 6-8 series are most prone to burn in. the X series onward are significantly better due to better encapsulation of the organic compound, more efficient electric current management, and new burn in features. you can always wait but life is passing you by. oled tech has drastically evolved from the 6 series oled line.
Watch Fox Business most of day, with ticker tape always running along bottom of screen. Had an older Sony with lamps in back and image burned in on the ticker tape line. I am sure an OLED would do the same. That’s why I bought a Samsung QN90A 75”, and love it.

I bought a high end 55" LG 3-D OLED TV about 6 years ago (retail $5000). I am careful never to leave it on when not watching or leave a static image on there but still about a year ago started seeing some. My warranty had just run out but thought I'd contact LG anyway and see what they said. They had me send a pic of the screen and their rep said "yeah that shouldn't have happened already, we'll take care of it and call you back in about 3 days". Waited 3 days, no call, waited another 2 days, no call so I called them and they changed their mind, were not going to fix it at all. No more OLED for me and I'll never buy anything from LG again.

I had a 55 2016 oled LG. It burned in fox logo. I ended trying to replace tv because they couldn’t fix the panel. Early oled problems I guess.

The a8g was never swapped out. That was the s95b. Which means you need to pay better attention.
Honestly I bought a Samsung s95b. It is a beautiful panel, but I got so nervous about burn in I just gave it to my mom. I play Madden A LOT and the static images of the game made me so nervous I just gave it away. I'd love to have and keep a great oled, but worrying about the burn in sucks. Especially knowing how much I play Madden and NBA 2k. Anyone else avid Madden or NBA 2k gamers that can vouch for any oled that you really don't need to stress over?
I play games like Tekken and Street Fighter for hours. Had a 2015 Oled and experienced burn in. Went to Full Array Led and haven't looked back. Is it really not an issue for heavy content?
I agree with pretty much everything. I would add that the biggest problem with burn-in is the blue color, if you get the panel calibrated, you reduce the risk of burn-in. Also, lower brightness helps a lot too.
I was scared of OLED for a long time but a few months back I bought an LG C2 42" as my main monitor and I'm thrilled. I have an older 32" UHD monitor for a lot of static content and basically just play games, watch videos, or work in Blender on the LG. I don't regret anything so far.

Seems like the models that get burn ins are mostly pre-2018? My C7 from 2017 has terrible burn in and it all started in the past year. For the first 5 years, I watched only blu-rays and some Netflix no burn in, but after my old LCD tv in the bedroom died, I moved the C7 to the bedroom, and started using it heavily. Within a month I stared seeing burn ins even just from watch news 1 hour a day, and then the Netflix logo at the bottom right, youtuble logo at the upper right, all kinds burn in from titles, thumbnails. I also watch volleyball on it, so the score box is burnt in as well. Granted, the TV is on like 14 hours a day since I moved it to the bedroom. My C2 that I bought last year, so far has no burn ins but then again, I only watch blu-rays on it. So I don't know. I'm still very much afraid of burn in. When my C7 dies, I will buy a miniLed to replace it.

If you got the XR-A90K series OLED then you have the most up to date OLED panel as of right now PERIOD. Not to mention, the A90K OLED is a "Master series" Bravia and in it's size classes of either 42" and 48" it is considered a "flagship model". Yes the A95K takes the cake for the larger display sizes but the A90K is its little buff brother! There is not a better 42" or 48" OLED tv out on the market right now!

Though burn in may not be a big issue any longer with the modern OLEDs, I still take precautions like keeping the pixels refreshed by switching viewing material pretty frequently. Example; game for 1 hour, switch to a movie for 90 minutes, then switch to TH-cam 4K HDR content for 45 minutes etc... You get the picture! You gotta keep things MOVING...

Sounds like its a little brighter and thats it but i buy sony for the cokor accuracy and audio. Their tvs last a long time too my last bravia is 10 years old still works and i gave it to my mom to replace her broken samsung she loves it

I had the same fears, but I finally decided it’s time, and got a Sony A80J. No probs with burn in, and the PQ mops the floor with any QLED I’ve ever seen - and that’s saying something, because I’ve seen some really great ones! Get an OLED, set it to BT2020, tweak it to your liking, and you will smile every time you turn it on.

I have over 5200 hours on my LG C1 that I use for a PC monitor and I do lots of video editing on it and have no sign of issues whatsoever. Far as I can tell, the risk of burn-in on a modern OLED is no worse than it was on a CRT, yes it's possible but only under extreme situations that 99.9% wont experience.
Can I ask you what is the brightness level of your C1 when using it as a PC monitor? I've heard a lot of people only set it to around 30%, which seems way to dim to me on my C2.

I've been using an LG CX 48" as my daily driver for a bit over 3 years and I have burn-in from icons on my desktop and I have the dreaded dirty screen as well. But I know why that I have it as well as how to avoid it in the future & it doesn't bother me too much. Next week I'm buying an LG C3 and I'm going to utilize what I've learned to make sure that the screen stays clear for as long as possible. Either way, I've enjoyed my LG CX and if I have to replace my TV every so often, that's just the price of admission to have the best screen in the business.
I just got a new tv, it works fine when watching cable or streaming. But when i play ps5 theres a stuck pixel that appears randomly and depending on the screen will disappear and reappear while playing…. When i change back to cable it goes away. Im debating if i should return as its only 10 days old or living with it
I haven’t a dead pixel and a stuck pixel like you on my 3 week old tv so I return to Samsung and they gave me a new one and for now it’s all good.. for now

I have an LG B7 too burned in soo bad cuz of FIFA, but don't forget that B7 was introduced in 2017 which is now 7 years old and the technology and the panels are so much better now than 6 years ago.

No worries on the G2 - it has 5 year panel warranty from LG. The heat sink is the big difference. If your panel goes bad, all you pay for is labor. I checked that out and it would cost me $180 in labor with a new panel. Good to go....
I have a 2017 LG B7A and no issues with burn in. This includes hundreds of hours of gaming. Also lots of sports with static boxes.
I like how OLED looks for the most part, but I really hate the crushed blacks. I'll stick to Full Array or Mini LED.

That is because the brightness is as bright as a candle. Basically you have to nerf the brightness of your OLED so it does not nuke itself.

Other than replacing the screen, there is no solution. It's why I get a new phone. Went from S9+, to a S22 Ultra, because the S9+ screen burn in.

Proud owner of a huge 83 inch C2...never had a problem till now..i have de tv 1.5 years and its still going strong..i do play everyday on consoles..watch tv with logo . movies..on a daily basis and nothing...i think you are right..we have gotten to a point that this technology is way ahead and if u use the things that oled manufacturers say , all the preventiung stuff that is on the tv you should not have anny problems whatsoever with BurnIN..stay safe and peace out brothers!!!

I wonder if the 65 inch is more susceptible to burn in than a 55 inch for the S95B that we're both using (you got the 65 and the 55 if I remember). Because it's bigger. Maybe your past experiences with the 55 inch doesn't prepare 65 inch users enough. I feel like I'm sounding cliché like... so, Size matters?
TH-cam logo burned my leg OLED. I was very careful when it was there, changing channels occasionally to change the image but it burned in pretty badly.
Do you think it may be unique to certain panels? I have youtube premium and watch at least 8 hours a day. LG E8 with no burn in yet. Just a thought.

I heavily play Genshin Impact and have been for the past 3 years. I've owned the Lg C1 for about 2 years. When I switch to a full blue screen, I definitely see burn in with the ui. i do pixel refresh every recommended 2000 hours.
got burn in on my A90K sony from 2022 after one month use as a PC monitor..... and only used it 2-3 hours a day.......
watched sports and movies daily after those 3 hours of PC use.

Everytime I hear someone tell me they're worried about burn in, I call them out for their real reason.. They don't want to spend the money.
OLED isn't even that expensive anymore. Can get an LG C1 or C2 >$900 right now and probably even less if you shop around.
Ya, but what if your screen stays on a single image, like apple TV home, a paused CNN picture, etc. on the screen and leave your home? You come back 9 hours later to find the image still on the screen, and wa la, burn in. So, I'd say for people like me with 2 kids and a grandmother who can't control the TV, an LCD is probably best because they can take the abuse or accidental left on scenario. But, correct me if I'm wrong.

Just found this. Thought I would chip-in. I have an LG C8. Close to 13,000 hours. Certainly love the set for movies. I noticed burn in about 6 months ago. It's gotten worse. You can see the static areas from CNN, CBC Newsworld, BNN Bloomberg. My next set will not be OLED. The new mini-LEDs are getting pretty good now.

I don’t get why is this even an issue. Just buy a 5 years warranty extension if it’s available at your store (and be sure it does cover burn-in) then you’re good to go. You’ll probably change your monitor in 5 years anyway soooooo
but bro, it seems you have been using 3 OLED TVs over the last 3-4 years? if that is so, that's like 1 year each. how many hours of usage do you have on each?
the thing is, most people probably want to buy just ONE oled and use it for at least 4-5 years. and since the effect is cumulative, it does sound like a risk (especially if you plan to also use it as a PC monitor and game on it).
But at the same time... I'm buying an oled this year for sure and here's the reasoning not many people mention: regular TVs have flaws from the day one! flashlighting, washed out blacks and blooming are unavoidable, and those things are worse than the burn-in (if burn-in ever happens)! Basically out of fear that our oled will MAYBE have a FLAW in future, we decide to buy a TV that ALREADY has many even worse FLAWS.
I'm just waiting to see if C3 is worth it. going for the 55" and planning to spend no more than $1.100-1.200
I have over 5200 hours on my C1 that I use for a PC monitor. I do lots of video editing on it every single day and don't even have the slightest hint of a a problem. Also LG rates their panels for 100,000 hours of use which in my case would take me close to 20 years to reach and I use my screen heavily. Burn-in on OLEDs aren't any more of a problem than they were on CRTs, just use some common sense and you wont have any issues.

it's so hard to know if any oled can take 4-5 years of intense usage. 100.000 hours doesn't mean much when burn in is sure to happen much sooner, no matter how you use the tv. it's not that other tv technologies will survive that much either.

check again after 5years time , usually when the extended guaranty runs out. My LG OLED B7 which i bought in 2018 has burn in on the netflix progress bar area after 5 years. I had an LCD for 12 years running optimally , sure the colors were crap but it lasted that long. If new OLEDs still go bad after 5years with burn in or panel degradation in my opinion it's not worth it for daily heavy use. Sure go ahead and get one for movies only , but I don't think it's worth having as a daily used pc monitor.

I'm scared for the reasons you said. We watch TV Land a lot along with a couple of other old sitcoms channels. The logo at the bottom scares me.
My worry is I love sports. NFL and NBA and of course there’s always the score and other tickers on the screen.
I have a Sony A80L 77, bought in July. After watching maybe 30 hours of “ Last Call “ on CNBC, for 45 minutes or so, over say 45 days, I have some burn in, or retention. Shows up mainly in light grey background scenes. I have not watched any other news programs, and stopped this as soon as I noticed the problem. That was a month ago, and has not gone away, so I guess its there for good. Certainly not the all day, nothing but news programs, viewing habit discussed in this and other posts.
