To hear Donna Murphy tell her story of Dolly's relationship with Ephraim is a primer to all actors on how to understand a role. I had the privilege to see Murphy perform Dolly twice and my only regret is that I can't see her do it again because the show has closed. I have loved all the Dollys I've seen but Murphy is the actor who illuminated the role for me. Witnessing her work her way through that two and a half hour show with such finesse and truth is an experience I will never forget. It is a shame that Murphy's Dolly was never professionally recorded on video.
I saw your Dolly by choice and I have never for got it. As two old men standing outside the stage door just to see you was our thrill. I know you wanted to go home afterwards but we were the last in line and you had time for us. Thank you so much for not making fun of me as I became tongue tied trying to say something brilliant and failing miserably. Thanks again even after all these years I still remember your kindness. Cheers dan
Happy Birthday Donna! Please come back to Broadway or do a movie or TV. I enjoy watching you act! You are one of the best actresses working today and it is a crime you are not working more!
What a brilliant take on the character. I had never considered these things about Dolly. Probably won’t ever see the show the same now (and that’s a good thing!)
She really works on background of her characters that she plays. I’m glad that she mentioned her wonderful husband who was supportive in any ways for so many. She is an actress who just amazes me. How I hope we see her in something major again as the lead. I love her and I worked with her and am proud to say it.
To hear someone like Donna talking about Dolly with this much feeling gives me chills. It takes a woman, it *really* does

She looks fabulous!
Her back story is so rich. She is so, so Dolly. So dropped into the character and so committed. A real, true actress.
