This was cool to watch. I've been going to Kichijoji for years for a jazzclub that I love (Sometime), but this past March my wife and I decided to stay in Kichijoji for a week and a bit. We loved it. Andoh became my daily coffee. The Menchi Katsu was crazy good. Speaking of which, when we were there, the local Uniqlo had collaboration t-shirts and tote bags with popular local shops. The Menchi Katsu place had their own Uniqlo t-shirt. Pretty cool I think. Kichijoji has such a cool vibe. It's got a great balance of things that make it so desirable and livable. Can't wait to go back.
Thank you for such a thoughtful comment. Now that you mention it, Kichijoji sounds like a wonderful place to stay in next time we're in Tokyo ourselves. It's been a few years since we'd been and we were surprised by what a great neighborhood it is. The Uniqlo tee sounds so cool. Wish we'd caught that! Will definitely be back to check out the jazz club you mentioned too. 🍻
I love how you two love coffee so much. My husband can’t stuff or the smell but to me I have to have it, I can’t drink it cold it must be hot . But Japanese coffee for me just hits the spot and we don’t brag about neither we just get on with it lol.
A coffee comment, yes! There's so many kinds of coffee in Japan. We love a good hot fruity pour over or an ice cold americano when the weather calls for it. Cheers ☕️☕️
i see that ralph and sam notification and in an instant feel immense joy. You've turned every monday into a good one!!! Loved this vlog, kichijoji seems so nice!
Today, i decided to be extra early at work, however i noticed the notification of this episode. I am sitting now with a coffee at hand at our building cafeteria 😂 …my boss is gonna be late anyways. Tokyo!!!!….why you’re 10 hours away???? 🤣🤣🤣. Keep posting please 🙏 😊
Glad you tried Satou and the menchi. It's also a bargain for 300 yen each. Satou has a steak restaurant upstairs too. Kichijoji also has one of my favorite parks, Inokashira Park.
A steal for the quality and size! So flavorful, it really hits the spot. We considered the steak shop as well. Definitely will make time to visit Inokashira park next time we go 😊
subarashii (wonderful!) video. Ralph is getting better at his nihongo! Sam is maganda. This video captured the essence of what makes Tokyo so special: every detail, every item, edible or otherwise, is perfect. The couple in blue, the coffee shop owner, the perfect explanation of the word “vintage,” and the senbei shop granny who looked so sweet- this video kind of made me homesick. maraming salamat, you two. thanks for the weekly postcard from my childhood home.
maraming salamat for such a wonderful comment 🥲 walks around little neighborhoods like this one are our favorite way to pass time in tokyo. means a lot that other people appreciate it just as much as we do. where in tokyo did you grow up? 😊
it is such a source of comfort, your videos are soothing and atmospheric- a virtual cup of tea. I grew up in a neighborhood called Setagaya. some parts are very residential, mostly quiet, idyllic for childhood. Sangenjaya is an area people are discovering more for the train that runs through and some of the nice cafes they have.
@sylviarupani-smith5416 wow, we were actually considering visiting sangenjaya on this trip. seems like another neighborhood with a lot of character. will definitely add it to our list for next trip 😊☕️
Ralph and Sam. Both of you model even when you're not. I find it so fascinating for some reason. The whole vibe from the videos ties in with your model energy. I could see a whole series of lookbooks with just the two of you. Wanna meet in Japan next year to shoot? haha... Half joking but serious? 😃
Hey Ralph! I love Tatsuro Yamashita as well. Do you have any favorite songs? My favorite by far are Someday, Christmas Eve, and Kaze no Corridor :) You know, Bruno Mars loves his songs. He is a legend!!!
Yes it is! I like point and shoot cameras. I used to shoot with a Yashica T* before the Olympus. For work I switch to the Contax G2. Wow the Canonet is pretty vintage!
@@RalphSam I've been to Nakano and Koenji before but still haven't yet explored kichijoji. Really digging the general vibes of western tokyo so i wanted to dig a little deeper 👌
Dears, would you recommend traveling around Japan (for lets say 10-14 days) in July? or thats too hoot and uncomfy at all. Love your vlogs, greetings form Poland
Our last trip was the last 2 weeks of June and the weather was still good. Cool and sunny with some rainy days. After we left, we heard that the summer heat was intense. So we would recommend May/June rather than July. 😊
Kichijoji looks coool. It's gonna be hard to fit all of these niche neighborhoods in one trip lol Entirely unrelated to the vlog, but which Dash Living were you guys staying at? Also, I know you guys stayed at bmj Shin Okubo last time - how was the neighborhood and vibes of the place? I keep reading that the area is a bit 'sketchy', but I sincerely doubt that so I wanted to get your personal opinion haha
Last trip we stayed at Dash Living in Akabanebashi 😊 Very convenient, right by the train station. We've stayed at BMJ maybe 3 times now. We don't consider it sketchy tbh! It's a further walk from the station though. There are karaoke places and immigrant businesses around but we never felt unsafe. It's still quiet and orderly. I guess it's a matter of preference. By contrast, Dash Living is in a very upscale Japanese neighborhood. Hope that helps.✌🏻

Watching your vlogs makes me want to go to Japan so bad that I'm about to just swim to there 😂 Wishing you both the best!!! ❤
