My understanding is, currently, if an energy provider want's to cut you off they have to obtain a Court Order for access to your home as, otherwise, they'd be trespassing if you denied them access. A smart meter can disconnect you remotely literally by a click of a computer mouse at head office. Who benefits here I wonder.......??

I have a friend who works as a collector for a large electric company and he told me these meters are hazardous to your health, that’s not all they are easy to hack into by hackers and they can get your personal information. They control your usage as well. Some of the side effects being near these meters are headaches, heart palpitations, dizziness, and shortness of breath. I opt out from having one installed on my home. Because of that I have to pay an extra $16 a month and I am ok with that. Even you you have one you can still opt out.

We have had smart meters here in Canada for at least a decade - and the things were installed for TWO REASONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First - smart meters broadcast their monthly information regarding power usage - making it MUCH FASTER AND CHEAPER for power supplier to pick up billing information - no need for an employee to physically get onto your property to visually read the old style meters ............................
BUT THE REAL KEY is that smart meters can track TOU - meaning TIME OF USE and power corps LIKE THE IDEA of being able to charge you MORE for using power at certain times of the day!!!
WHAT THIS MEANS for those who refuse smart meters is YOU WILL PAY FULL PRICE FOR POWER REGARDLESS OF TOU - you will pay highest price even for power used during the cheapest times after midnight - when others with smart meters are paying ONE THIRD your rate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you, frightening the use they can make of smart meters. My direct debit for gas increased from £95 a month to 334. A month. I have disputed that I am using more gas since since my husband died i am using much less heating. I have had a tremendous trouble to persuade them that the smart meter reader is faulty. I would get rid of it , but once it is installed no company will allow you yo get rid of it.

This is the only way they can cut you off. That means comming on to and or into your home. Depending where your meter is located . Deny them implied right of access. As then they would be trespassing. Civel matter not police or law matter. Hope this helps.

Yes I'm with these tyrants too. Write to to the CEO Simone Rossi and put them in knowledge of the fact that they already get paid from the trust fund created when your birth was registered. You are (Why you are) already debt free (title of another
You Tube video by Sovereign Empowerment.
So you will no longer pay their double charge bills from your own pocket.
They are a for profit corporation; which operates under corporate laws. These do not give it any legal powers to tell you what to do or when to do it. Or to pay them
a sum of money they say you have a liability to pay.
Make them aware that there is no contract of agreement or acceptance; signed in wet ink by two living, breathing men / women.
They will come back with tyrants bluster but, they could or would not adduce conclusive evidence of a contract outside or inside a court room. Where the legal maxim: He who asserts must prove' would apply.
They are only a collecting company not the supplier, so are acting fraudulently. Fraud on the people - when fraud comes in it kills everything; i.e. liability to pay council tax.
Their charge to you, the living, breathing man or woman is an additional double charge, to that against your 'Strawman' legal fiction dead entity.
Tell them all this and, all the grounds of objection you can raise against privatised energy supply; which was imposed without prior consultation, or agreement.
I have already traversed this road so speak from experience.
In the 'light Paper' (alternative to the mainstream government supporting papers) issue 36, there is an article on page 4, by LINDSAY HARPER; entitled: How to trump tyranny. They only have threats but YOU have the power.✊

What annoys me is that we have had the cost of the meter roll out put on our bills without our consent. It’s hundreds of pounds to get the detail of what I’m using. I have already had power monitoring in my house for 10+ years so I know I’ve reduced my usage down to about 80 watts base load. There’s no way I can reduce it further without turning off things I actually use so a smart meter is not going to benefit me.
On top of that the damm things are able to measure power factor and charge accordingly at the moment we don’t pay for power factor adjustment.
My parents have one installed and the home unit crashes on a weekly basis. If they can’t program that then I don’t trust them with accurate metering and security.

There was a case in the US where information from a smart meter was used in court as evidence, this related to use of hot water and cleaning a crime scene. The extra usage came into focus when compared to the average daily use of the tenant. The same could happen here. imagine saying that you live alone, then the meter grasses you up as you have 2 baths during the evening. I doubt it will be long before all agencies are able to benefit from the information harvested.

Smart meters are clocking up power usage when no power is being used on particular types of device. Heat pumps seem to case a smart meter to register more electricity that they could not possibly be using. It may be a particular type of electric motor in some heat pumps which generates a waveform which confuses the smart meter electronics.

Also DNO'S want everybody in/on streets, estates etc to install them so they can lower the voltage at off peak times (during the day usually) potentially saving THEM energy. (Called smart street/local) problem arises some household appliances will not work correctly and go faulty because of lower voltages.

      Nonsense.
In the UK, the declared voltage and tolerance for an electricity supply is 230 volts -6%, +10%. This gives an allowed voltage range of 216.2 volts to 253.0 volts.
Appliances are designed to work within these limits (and a bit more above/below) Nobody will save anything though. For example, a kettle has an element with a resistance, that resistance does not change. If the voltage is lower, the kettle will draw less amps and therefore less power (kW) BUT it will take longer to boil the same amount of water.

I'm switching back to the analogue meter. Since the smart meters were installed here in Southern California, my utility fee has almost tripled - $1200 in one month what 3 years ago was $400. It's insane. If, and when, the meter fails, it's designed to charge the customer at a higher rate - for example, both incoming 110 feeds have a digital monitoring chip that reports to the mesh network at a specified interval. If one of your monitoring chips fail, it doubles the working monitor chip draw by default for usage and billing, which can cause elevated bills because homes are not wired symmetrically per draw/amperage usage. Analogue meters cannot fail, whereas digital meters can and when they do, the client pays more which is opposite of consumer protections. These meters can be hacked, coding altered, and potentially exploited by power companies who are as trustworthy as a rattlesnake - they can adjust the 1:1 monitoring algorithm by just a hundredth of a decimal point and inconspicuously overcharge hundreds of thousands of consumers to generate millions of dollars in additional revenue. There is zero oversight/fraud protection for us the consumer and it is already present in our bills.

And quite frankly I don't believe that.
Any measuring device has to be calibrated and confirm to measuring standards.
If the meters were inaccurate then it would be picked up and there would be a huge public outcry and the meters would be prohibited from being used.

Energy suppliers cannot force you to have a meter unless when approaching judge for court order and police assistance they have to have this expiry date as part of their evidence.
However, if you have RMF/RF sensitivity or asthma and are affected by EMF/RF waves you could potentially refuse to have one on health grounds. They cannot demand you give them your medical info which is private between you and Doctor.

The biggest risk you failed to mention. That's FIRE! Smart meters have a relay inside which is massively under-rated to switch a full load. This has on many occasion lead to overheating and fire. Normal traditional meters do not have such a relay and are inherently safe in comparison.

    • @deang5622
      @deang5622 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rubbish.
Nothing to do with switching the load.
To switch the power on and off, there has to be a relay present as you suggest.
That relay has to be in the phase line. It's probably a double pole relay switching both neutral and live line. Now whether it is a single pole or double pole isn't particular important for the purpose of this discussion.
But the relays contacts have to the capability to carry the maximum load current for the entire property.
That maximum current is typically 100 amps. The main cutout fuse in many properties is 100 amps.
If the relay contacts are rated at less than this, then there is a fire risk.
There is no way on earth my friend, that the regulatory bodies are going to allow smart electricity meters to be installed that cannot safely carry 100 amps of current. It is *not* happening.
If they permitted that, every property which has a main cutout fuse of 100 amps - which is the majority of properties although not all - is at risk of fire.
The fire brigade would not allow this situation to happen.

If they see something that concerns them within the area they are working, they may be obliged to make you aware of it. But essentially, the installation will be no more dangerous than it was before they started their work. I'd have been inclined to report it to the police as suspicious behaviour, just incase this guy, or the company, are coming people into having more work done. Then inform EON that this behaviour has given you cause to report it to the police.

They do not have the power to condemn electrical appliances.
I have had this argument previously on YT with qualified electricians.
They have no such legal power.
All they can do is inspect the electrical installation which does NOT include appliances.
If they find a safety issue with the electrical installation they can approach the resident or owner and ask for permission to turn the power off to the dangerous part of the installation and the resident or owner can refuse, and there is nothing the electrician can do about it. If the unsafe part of the installation is de-energised, there is nothing to stop the resident from turning the power back on, though if it really is a C1 condition code against the defect, it would be unwise to turn it back on.
There are actual websites belonging to firms of electricians where they say they have the power to condemn an electrical installation. Electricians are not the brightest of people, they are generally quite poorly educated and when it comes to legal matters, they are completely clueless.

Worth knowing is that the new Smart meter not only gives the installing energy company the facility to measure all use, the ability to switch power supply off, but also to turn the meter into a prepayment meter that supplys power with the use of a prepayment card or prepayment key. Something that without the Smart Meter the energy company would have to obtain a court order. This has previously acted as a level of protection to ensure no vulnerable people were illegally cut-off.

I had a smart meter, the problem with it was it wasn't very smart, in fact I'd say it was really dumb, the display was about 30 foot from the feed and the signal was on 2.4GHZ Wi-Fi, every Wi-Fi signal in reach including my neighbours Wi-Fi signals caused confusion with the readings, some days it subtracted KW from my running total, I have read about problems with the comunication between the meter and the supply company but my problem was all in house, Have you ever had problems with a Wi-Fi device at home ? OK imagine your electricity payments being dependant on Wi-Fi..it was in a word a NIGHTMARE, I've changed electricity companies since then and have no smart meter now, my new company is asking for permission to fit one, I don't reply.

The indoor unit is simply a display so you can see your current usage, your usage over the last hour / day / week etc. and if it’s half decent then it will compare your current usage to the same period previously so you can see if your usage is up or down on previously.

      @philharris9631 ปีที่แล้ว

@@davidmyles9967 … well you did say specifically about not answering the door rather than being out. :-)
… that is correct … the indoor unit connects to the smart meter wirelessly.
However I don’t know whether it would be advisable (or even possible) to have them change your meter while you weren’t there as it is quite possible that when the power was reconnected and turned on then the switch-on surge in your home could trip your own breakers and you wouldn’t want to come home after a week away to find all your frozen food thawed and ruined.

Nothing you have said contains any evidence. It's just you talking. I have two devices that measure radiation and high frequency microwaves which I bought to test kitchen appliances I thought may be unsafe. I proved physically that they are not unsafe. Where is your proof? What instruments have you used to detect radiation coming from a smart meter? If you really want to be terrified of devices spying on you look no further than your computer graphics card. They have virtual machines running containterd software allowing them to install anything and run anything with full access to your graphics display. What is more, when they update you end up running the update in admin mode. It can log your keyboard input. It has access to your cameras and microphones. It knows what software you run. It knows what web-pages you browse. And...it has AI built into the graphics card. It actually takes up to 60% of you CPU bandwidth and it can send data down your internet hogging all the bandwidth and affecting your PC's performance. I have a motherboard with a Killer network chip (yes, hardware) that allows me to find out exactly what software is using my network card. I know the operating system process monitors lie about what is using your CPU, GPU and network. And here is the worse thing: these graphics cards are in every PC. Be afraid. Be very afraid. My advice: turn off that computer and never switch it on. In fact, turn everything off and go off-grid. No computers. No washing machines. No T.V. No radio. Don't even use electricity. Catch your own food. Skin it. Gut it. Cook it on a fire made of wood.

Good you got it sorted out.. Did they use estimates that you disputed? These meters meant to keep readings up to date, but so many in UK still charge using estimates even if smart meter installed.
I'm totally against getting 1, for many reasons. They want total control remotely to ammend tariffs , upgrade new software & possibly ration supply.
Find myself in unenviable situation of no working gas meter, no readings taken in over a year due to the covid situation & illness.
I too was forced into a digital gas meter > early version of smart> now won't wake up for reading (dead battery?) , installed only 1 year ago & broken already. The old analogue one worked fine 25years!
Now find Energy company won't even come to swap it out unless I take a Smart Type2 with built in sim repeater every half hour.
They happy with high estimates & now I will never know how much gas I saved heating over Winter, as used my coal fire to heat 1room.
UK home energy costs shot up 54% on 1st April due to mismanagement during covid. Now they shoot themselves in foot with green pledges & sanctions that hurt us more than anyone else.
Some customer help act like they own the company & take advantage of elderly or disabled people. Really feeling at the end of my tether.
This World has changed so much & not for the better imo. Best wishes Tracy. 🙂

Have someone come around and check it like they always have with standard ones. Everything shouldn't be IOT (internet of things) connected crap.

My house in Australia has a smart meter...it allows my energy retailer to charge me time of use tariffs that vary depending in the time of day. Between 1000 and 1500 hrs is the cheapest time for using grid power so I maximize my energy usage during that period. I also charge my home battery during that period if my PV system output is low and then run the house off the battery during times of the day when power prices are at higher tariffs.

Cost going up? Keep up with GREEN and it will cost you MORE. MUCH MUCH MORE. Not the meters, it is where and how the power is generated. No free lunch as we say in the US.

It is now 18 months since i last washed my underpants because every time i do so my Smart Meter shows that i'm using to much electricity , so i don't bother .My butter's running out my fridge and i haven't showered for 2 year now , all because what my Smart Meter is telling me .
Not really , i havn't got one and never will have . 🤭😁😂😂😂
As you say in the video , since when have the government and energy providers cared about saving us money , it's their job to take it from us big time , they're insulting our intelligents thinking we're stupid .

Here in Canada its mandatory. Had to smart power meter for years, outside the house. Recently the water company installed a water meter inside the house, and I've developed a rash since. Considering going off grid just to get rid of the smart meters.

Expect peak charge usage in the future.

My neighbor got a smart meter. It faces our home. We are about 15 feet apart on that side and our bedroom and living room is on that side. Do you know if this would be dangerous for us? If so, what can I do on my end to protect that side of home?

Search for a special paint that blocks EMF radiation. And paint the walls on the side of the house with the meter. Just had 4 smart meters installed in my apartment building. Right on the other side of my bedroom wall. With another 4 meters 10 feet away on the building next to us. They seem to turn on around the same time everyday for an hour. We can tell because our bodies get all tingly, then pin pricks, followed by aches and pains all over, headaches, dizziness, chills, and tiredness. The effects can last the rest of the day. So our best bet is to avoid our apartment during that hour they turn on. It's annoying, but it's better than feeling like $hit. It's not subtle either, we literally feel like we're being hit by something.

It amazed me how many 'sheep' agreed to having a smart meter fitted. My analogue meter does the exact same thing, only I get to read it and pay for what I have used. A smart meter is just another stab against our freedoms and rights in my view. They can be switched off remotely, try that with an analogue meter..lol The ONLY reason they fitted smart/dumb meters was to try and catch those who re-wired them to bypass the meter. I know of at least 3 people who grow a certain plant and they manage to bypass the smarty pants meter easily. Instead of wiring every home directly from the junction, virtually impossible, they decided to go with smart meters so they could read 'live' data coming from each persons home. They DO NOT save you any less than an analogue meter! A meter is just that - a means to gather information about how much electricity/gas you are using. The day will come when I will be given a choice, either have a smart meter or we'll terminate your supply. In that case, you'd better cut it off then, because I will NEVER have a smart meter purely on principle.

The smart meter can’t know what is being used and won’t ever without everything from your kettle to your TV having a registered transmitter within to inform the smart meter it’s being use and it’s requirements. The principles of saving is that you will be able to observe your usage but if you then switch off all plug switches not needed at a time (kettle, etc) you will reduce the amount of wasted power and will recognise by how much on the display.

Exactly. All this he said was misinformation.
