my favorite scene of the movie, "i thought i walked" the delivering of that line is hilarious!
took me a while to understand why she lied to him about getting raped, especially since he clearly knew. in the end i think it's not so much lying as overcoming her own trauma. you can see how ashamed and emotionally scarred she was about it, but when she looks him dead in the eye and says they never did anything to her, i think she's actually saying whatever they did to get physically did nothing to break her spirit. i think that's what he nods to acknowledge.

I think it may be because she's trying to do everything in her power to prevent him from going. She knows if she says what they did to her, he will be further motivated by revenge.
he did cut the dudes balls off, so.... that's something.
I think she's just letting him know she's tough enough to handle it and compared to nearly dying it's not so bad. Also though it gives him further motivation to avenge what happened to himself and his family because she's like family to him already too.
I love how freaked out Howard is! 😂 listening to him from outside!!

She is so underrated
She is. Never seen a bad movie with her or Tom Hardy. Noomi Rapace is another good one!
My heart breaks every time I watch this scene. It’s like when someone asks if you’re ok and you break down in tears, you just can’t lie because you’re not. Maggie couldn’t lie in that moment cause she started to think about it. She couldn’t even look at him cause she knew she’d fall apart. So so sad.
The power in this scene is gut wrenching.

I think the intent was the portrayal of humor. I’ve seen it in guys like Forrest. The humor is dry as sandpaper and it’s great! 🤣

Tom Hardy - a grunt for every occasion
When he got angry .. my heart melted
Tom Hardy is such an incredible actor : he's being intimidating by his own presence in this scene. He walks funny, speaks raucously but quietly, all in calm strenght, but when he says "Look at me" at 2:08, you can see in his eyes all the anger and the hatred towards Maggie's molesters. Man, that's acting ! And Jessica is such a beautiful woman !

This scene sort of reminds me of the scene when Forrest tells Jack as long as you are my brother you will never let this happen again as if Jack getting beat up was preventable. It wasn't nor was Forrest getting attacked.

I'm pretty sure that Jack started all the shootings, killings and pretty much everything cause he wanted to be something that the other brothers didn't wanna be. Forrest same as died twice, no man could have walked as far as he did just to survive when he got his throat cut. The girl came back to the restaurant when he was bleeding out but she didn't go anywhere near the ol truck that Forrest was laying on the ground beside of..This is a durn good movie bein based on true events. I was stunned to hear that pneumonia took Forrest life years later..

I think she didn’t say it out loud because she didn’t want Forrest to see her as “dirty.” After all, men like that were the reason why she swiftly left Chicago, and Rakes called her a “greasy cup.” If she admitted it, she’d probably think that Forrest would see her differently.

Notice how Jessica Chastain gathers her dressing gown about her, but still leaves an expanse of creamy smooth skin to be seen.
