To make it easier to put the cap on the travel brush: put in as much of the bristles as you can but at an angle to the cap; then gently rotate the cap, which will gently twist the rest of the bristles into the cap. There is a video on TH-cam somewhere of brush makers at Escoda doing this, to get the bristles into the ferrule. Also, those new travel brushes (flat, mop, dagger) from da Vinci have very wide handles, which kind of makes them awkward.
Stolen from your husband, now that made me chuckle, just like our household. Thanks for the down to earth video. Reuse, repurpose and do your own thing, but don't infringe on others. Great video.
😆 I’m glad it made you chuckle! He is a craftsman, so he steals my things too. We’re even! Yes, these days especially we need to reuse and repurpose as much as we can.
Wow. After watching this I'm going to get me some da Vinci brushes. Thanks for sharing. I always want to take EVERYTHING with me but this shows the versatility you can create with a restrained kit. Not that I do restrained very well.
I just got the same funnel! When I sketched outside I only used dry media or markers for that reason and waterbrush are fun but I like Big brushes. As for gouache, I'm terrible with those. I need to work on my water ratio because the muddy stuggle is real. Instead I have the art graf sets. I don't know for waterproofness but the staining is strong with this one. And they double up as drawing tools. Have fun in your urban sketching adventures!
Wow! You have some nice travel supplies. I’m pretty new to watercolor and I haven’t seen any of these. I shared your Breonna Taylor video on Facebook yesterday. Thanks so much for your content. ❤️🔥
This was a really fun video, Sade, thanks for sharing!--never seen that A Gallo set before as I've never heard of that brand of paints. Really think that's an adorable wood palette and love how it opens on both sides and has a semi-circle shape when closed.
Just a random question? Can we bring watercolor palette (pans) and brushes in cabin in a plane? Im scared, i can't find much info about it... I live in EU. And I have a flight from Brussel to Copenhagen.
Yes, pan paints are considered solid, and in my experience no one has ever asked about them. Tubes and bottled inks would have to go in your 1L zip lock bag. After you're past security, you can use them even on board the plane as long as you don't make a mess 😉
@@gwenlynn7261 thank you for your answer, it conforted me. Art supplies can be so expansive, i would be sad to lose them :( But It went good they said nothing as you said! :)
I like your little bag XD I wonder. I use towels to remove the extra water or pigment from my brushes but would it be safe to put them in the washing machine or should I wash them by hand? It feels such a dumb question but considering some pigments are not that safe...
That’s a really good question! I hadn’t thought about it. It probably has a lot to do with how your country manages waste. Here I prefer not to put things down the drain if possible. I allow the pigments to collect to the bottom of my water, collect those, and throw them away. This type of waste is burned in facilities that have extremely high filtration even for dangerous particles. I don’t think they have a system quite like this for water. In addition to worrying about the water system, you have to worry about then getting it on your clothes. Thinking about that, if you do use any pigments that are toxic, I would wash by hand.
@@SadieSavestheDay I see! Thank you for your reply. I don't think they are very careful with handling the waste. And I didn't think about how I should throw the water on the sink. I will try what you say about letting all the pigment go down on the bowl. I will continue washing my towels by hand I was feeling lazy about it and wanted to throw it to the washing machine, but now I feel like I should be more thoughtful about it :A:!
Just Saw your video and really liked the bag you our all the stuff in. Can you name a brand or an idea where I can get one of those? I am from Germany 🙂 thanks for the Inspiration ☺️
Hi Sadie ,I just found you from s.share portrait painting class.. I must say that was the best vid I have seen, very informational. I was wondering if you have a list of the colors and brands you recommend for all skin tones from light to deep? I came to find you on here in hopes I could find your recommendations .ps your amazing

Ooh great tip!!
@@SadieSavestheDay Also, gently rotating the bristles instead of the cap can work.
Oooh heck, that's a handy tip! I usually just wet my brushes and slid 'em back in, but I like this swirling idea!
I love the teeny tiny makeup/gouache palette! Seems so handy! Nice assortment of tools, it makes me want to set up palettes lol

Thanks so much for your soft, gentle voice and slow style that allows us to see the items and take notes. God bless you and yours.
Thank you, that comment really brightens my day 🙏🏿
For the portable painter, you could use a normal elastic band to hold the clip while you’re using it
I love my portable painter!
Another great video! I didn’t even think to travel w gouache. Now I’ll have to see if I can do that too!
Gouache is so great to travel with! You’ve got to try it!

I can’t carry very much, so I always try to have a very stripped down kit. I’m glad if it can help! Also yes I love these brushes so much!
That is the coolest palette!! I love your whole set up 🥰
Thank you!
I put a towel on my leg first ,then the portable painter...i use the towel to also clean my brush on...
Oooo good idea!
Really love your video. One of the best here on youtube.thanks so much

Oh I love the artgraf too! I can’t believe I forgot to include them!
@@SadieSavestheDay Can I request a video about them to spread the love ? :)
You show things of a dream!
So lovely
I’m really grateful to be able to use them!

Oh thank you so much! Thank you for watching, and reach out to me anytime!
Sadie Saves the Day I just ordered the Portable Painter and a Silver travel brush. 😊
I want the A. gallo box just because it’s beautiful and unusual.
It is 😊
Holy Moly! That Gallo Illumina set is like $184! They like that a lot don't they! Wowsa! I think my wallet went and hid from me. 🤤
😆 Yes it is not the cheapest, but to be honest I don’t think it’s a bad price
Well, you saved me some time. I figured it would be a little on the pricey side, but not that much. 😆 It's beautiful though.

Isn’t just too cute? It’s really fun to paint with. It always makes me happy to hear that you liked it 😊
I have the opposite problem with the Portable Painter - My legs are too wide for it to fit on my lap.
Thank you for sharing this. I want them all!!! I saw this too late for my upcoming trip but they are definitely on my radar!!! Btw I love your videos.
Totally unrelatev but your hands are so pretty haha maybe I have to do a study eve
😆 I’ve never heard that before! It’s nice to know!
07 Tama: I was thinking that too as I watched. 😊
That travel flat brush! I'm gonna need those. Travel flats are so hard to find!
Thanks for sharing! I'm slowly building my own travel kit, so it's cool to see everybody else's. :)
Yes! When I was starting out with mine I loved to see what everyone else was doing
Thanks for sharing! ❤❤❤
Can I steal your eye palette idea??? Jeanyus ❤😍
Also would u mind sharing what your nail polish is? I'm obsessed! Thank you and happy new year!!!!

Yes you can
I traveled in Europe and Asia and they never said a thing. I brought my palette with pans and empty waterbrushes.
