Really solid video. This is how you get the point across. Instructors going on and on about pronating are just babbling. You can tell this guy is a legit hitter just by the way he moves, tbh.
If you want a couple more tips for kick to the ad court, i find compared to a slice serve, try to stay side on rather than full right to left shoulder rotate, although low to high rotate is still good, and try keeping the serving elbow back a bit during the swing.
Hi Tom, good stuff. I also see you have that front foot movement like Federer does, which you did explain in one of your other videos, to have the weight transfer. Thanks
I can do a kick serve but I find doing it with power is difficult. The pros make it look easy. A soft kick serve doesn't seem to cause too much of a problem for good players.
thanx for kick serve technique you have shown. can you also suggest from the side angle, where to toss in the air, should this be over head or inside the base line. please show that way also. Thanx in advance.
I’ve been a long time follower of yours ever since I saw your Kick Serve (No Nonsense) short video you posted 12 years ago. One huge problem for me is I frequently shank the ball when swinging from left to right and staying side on at point of contact. Any advice please. Thanks.
I came for the kick serve tip, stayed for the abbreviated take back. I am trying to switch to something like this or what Richard Gasquet, or Djokovic are using. With my full take back my elbow and racquet keep ending up in the wrong position, have you ever touched on this subject in a video?
Would you take this deal? You lose your current ability to serve on the ad side, instead you get a lefty serve that is identical to your serve on the deuce side.
I know a person who is about 175cm tall. He does kick serve directed so far outside the court much more than pro players. So yes anyone can do it with proper skills
I was a fan of your kick serve video, from your original post 13 yrs ago..
Triniti's rock for kick practice!
Thank you for the simple and easy to understand tip. Keep up the good work..
Excellent my dude. "Getting too old for this kick serve business" ha. Love it.

Pros do talk about pronating; for a different serve...

Excellent tip. Kick serve has been my headache for so long that I am about to surrender, but I will give myself another try
Great video. Can you do one where you hold the ball and touch the racquet on where you contact the ball on the slice and kick. Thank you.
Thank you, Tom
excellent demo thank you very much
Great reminder Tom. Kick serve still looking good 😉

great super slow-mo to show your point.
I love the 6 o'clock to 12 o'clock tip.
or 7 to 1 or 8 to 2..
Great vid does tension play a role in kick serve??

If you’re a righty, perfect position is when the ball is coming from right to left, preferably contact should be over the head.
nice video, thank you
Thanks !
It seems the racquet finishes towards the right pole of the net. Some coaches recommend to finish towards the baseline.
What is the difference?
very good~~

Could you share your grip when you do the Kick Serve ?

Agree and I’ve been working on this myself.
I wonder how Stefan Edbergs serve would have fared in todays game? He's the only pro I know of who served kick exclusively
thx
Good video. My question: If you don't hit the ball after tossing where does it land, inside or outside the court?
In
So close to Marin Cilic’s Serve
Once upon a time it was a monster, I swear. haha
Still a monster in my opinion.

I don’t think a lefty kick serve on the deuce side is as good. But I’ll take a lefty serve any day.
@@TomAllsopp lefty kick serve is so annoying cause it looks like a slice but jumps to ur forehand last second
How tall are u? I am only 177CM, is that possible for me to handel kick serve? harder?
I'm 180cm. Schwartzman seems to do just fine.

Sam Stosur (173cm) did kick serves all the time.
Pronation sometimes causes my kick serve to flatten out. Any thoughts on how to prevent that?
Use a slight backhand grip to fix this. Watch the video "Edberg Serve Analysis" here on YT.
@@alexmay2825 Nice, thanks! I have just started doing it and it feels great, similar feeling to switching to a more extreme grip for forehand drive.
everytime i try to kick it, it just slices. Always struggle wit it
The video is directly addressing this actually. Gotta get that racket tilt
@@TomAllsopp i understand the mechanics. I just can't pull it off.
@@DanTuber to be honest, I think it’s something everyone wants to do but no one needs to do. Slice and topspin serves are all you need
@@TomAllsopp But a good kicker is lethal if done right. Especially on the ad side to right handers
@@DanTuber it is.
kick serve is really difficult to master, especially you need to serve flat/slice in 1st serve. then u lost the feel of doing the kick for 2nd
You are in your prime right now what are you talking about

@@TomAllsopp you look like a tennis type of dude
Haha. Too old for the Kick serve. Maybe the Slice is more energy efficient eh?
