    Here is a good example on how important it is to do maintenance on time on your car to prevent further damages to different parts on the engine. The EGR valve on this car must be inspected as often as possible since it can create further complications. So on this w210 e220, it's very easy to access the valve, so there is no excuse to not do it .

    Very Helpful! My EGR looked awful and caused probably combined with dirty mass air flow sensor the limp mode on my W210

      Mine had the exact same problem. Cleaned the EGR valve and replaced the mass air flow sensor. The 3000 rpm power loss is now solved

    Iam about to buy a W210 e270 cdi so it's nice to see a guy who makes tutorials for us :D i've had BMW now in many years, but it's nice to try something new brands sometimes :D

      @@duramater555 yes, lots of trouble.. blow'n compressor for air suspension. Cracked cylinderhead in boltholes fpr injector bla bla bla.. I saw my last comment that i wrote W210, but i actually ment W211. I have the 2003 model so it has the SBC aswell.. keep away from the ones with SBC

    Hello. I have an mercedes e220cdi and it's limited in much time of his runtime. It's probably to solve it by change the map sensor from admision pressure??

    If your EGR-valve looks like that then you should probably take a look inside the intake manifold aswell since it will build up there aswell, and those channels are smaller than the EGR hole which makes the intake clog up much faster.

    sometimes car run with turbo, sometimes without turbo
    I've replaced turbo solenoid, vacum is working. But when car reach temp about 85c there is no problem.

    Thank you for the video. I have now spent over £700 at 2 difference garages and my car is the same, both said they could not work out the problem!
    Mercedes E250 2011 Convertible, 152,000 miles Diesel
    Fault Code is EGR Valve and DPF, the dpf filter has now been changed
    In the morning when it is cold and i start the engine, it idles poorly then go's off, engine cuts out
    I then restart engine first time no problem, then if i wait for around 5 mins and rev high, no problem
    When i put the vehicle into drive it drops the revs and then will idle again and switch off.
    Eventually after running for around 15 minutes I can drive, however in limp mode. I will put my foot to the floor but not much power atall
    Car will sometimes stall when I come to a stop, at traffic lights etc.
    Please if you could give me any idea I would be so grateful. Both garages have said it could be so many different things even if the message on the computer is saying EGR Fault.? I had a £2,000 budget to fix, yet neither can fix this issue and still don't know what the problem is.

    Thanks for this excellent video. I had the exact problem some months ago on my 2002 W210. I cleaned my EGR valve with a solvent spray, and it came up so much better. This is the first time I have found an explanation for why it became clogged. I will now test my vacuum and the solenoid function. What other maintenance can be done to prevent this happening again?

    Hey thank you for the videos.I have a 220cdi 150HP c Class from 2003 And When I step on It for an overtake for example it throws lot of black smoke,All the time not just at the begining.I am going to check the EGR but anyway, any sugestions?Thank you again!

      Leakey fuel injectors or clogged intake manifold runners / intake valves - the most common . Start with inspecting the manifold ( There is a video in the playlist)

    Where is the 02 sensor on this car please? I have EGR problem and have fitted brand new egr valve along with a new activation solenoid. The vacuum is all good but car still run bad and lots of smoke. O2 sensor only thing left in chain?

    I was going through this video its informative but i got lost when you explain the agr solonoid you just touch the highlights i think it would be more informative if u showed us the way u test that solonoid. The connection to the 12 vold was not clear but. Thanks to you i m leaning a lot

    I have same problem with my w210 220 I spent a lot of money the problem still not found bad mechanics told me to change the injectors 2 of the still nothing changed also new airflow sensor still the same but when I disconnect the egr valve the car drives well but not enough power and on the highway it doesn't go more than 80mph also disconnecting the air flow sensor the car drives fine and no smoke but is loosing power so now I will change the egr valve which I thing is the problem since I watch this video when I open the egr valve a lot of dirt w inside.

      friend have the sme prob check the vacum tube or the valve from the admission air flow valve
      i think its spells like this
      my vacum tube damaged and in diognostic it said a complitly difrent error

      Just remove your dpf and all problems will be solved

    Hi, my mercedes e220 cdi doesn't rev over 3000 rpm, I think the car is in soft limp mode maybe because of a clogged up egr valve of throttle position sensor?

      Egr will not interfere with rpms and this engine doesn't have a throttle

    heloo ur videos are very helpful thanks a lot, i have a problem with my w210 220 cdi 2001, the problem is that when i go in a road for long ride with 100 km/h the mercedes lose the power i have to stop the engine and start it agian to have the full power. what is this problem?

      Can be a lot of things . It sounds like a fuel delivery problem .

    I had so much problems with smoke and the car was very slow. Turbo was good, new manifold, revision of injectors new diesel pump, but still fuckin problem.. there was no problem when car with software connected. and i sold the car. but i realize now that no one has my egr valve tested... my cousin had w220 320cdi, similar problem but his problem was vacuum solenoid. My god, a bad auto mechanic can make your life suck.

    How's everything? Hope everything is fine during the pandemic, you help me before with my 2005 Mercedes ml350 W163 this time i have a code P0715 transmission turbine speed sensor, the sensor is part of the conductor plate witch i replaced I'm still having the same problem driving in second gear or limp mode . Any suggestions will be highly appreciated

      Hi ! Everything well here ; Ideally I would find the wiring diagram and check what is the voltage the wires should have - during operation , with the sensor disconnected and compare with the known good values . If all looks good than it might be that heat , water or vibration are interfering somehow with the signals so I would investigate that .

    Why not soak the EGR valve and the hose in a solvent to dissolve the carbon buildup? I think it won't cost much?

      it was soaked for 3 hours with very little result ; It's also about how long it will last after the valve moves , deffinetely not as long as a new one .

      Probably not a good idea but it's now on the closed state.
