It's a lil sad to think how much they've given up since being little girls, to get to where they are, and to put out the epic project that is Babymetal. I'm sure they have little to no regrets but just makes me think about their lost childhood.

Moa, the cutest and most adorable old soul. There is no doubt in my mind that of the original three, she is the one who profoundly understands the tremendous sacrifices they have to make as little teenage girls for the insane project to succeed. Moa uses her silly antics to mask a very deep, insightful spirit. And I'd like to believe that what will make Moa truly happy is meeting her fans randomly with them saying that her sacrifices made a difference in their lives.
Then she'll smile and flash those heavenly dimples.

These two young women are a force of nature and I am forever grateful for everything they have given us (me). They have achieved more in their young lives than most do in a lifetime. Moa's comments are heartfelt (a harbinger of the onion ninjas) and a recognition that their achievements are far greater than the sacrifices and challenges they overcame. They followed their own path set by the Fox God and guided through the convictions of Kobametal.
For me, Moa is just as critical as Su in the success of Babymetal; Su is the voice, Moa is the heart and spirit. As a team they can accomplish anything. Separately, successful definitely, but not at the level of Babymetal. As Su stated in her 10th anniversary comment to Moa, "The experiences I have gained with Babymetal is thanks to Moametal. Thank your for running alongside me these past 10 years." Su considers Moa as her partner in Babymetal.
Several of the Kami band members have comment that without Babymetal, they may never have achieved international recognition and performed at such prestigious venues.

Many have commented on Moa's words, and with good cause. But what moved me the most was Suzuka Nakamoto talking about Su-Metal as a sort of seperate being that enabled her to do things. We all know the stage queen who rules huge crowds with a gesture and can surely bend the High Council of the Klingon empire to her will with one stern look. And the person behind that icon is .. shy, in a way? Amazing interview, thanks so much for sharing!
Writing this four weeks after the 2023 tour wrapped up, I am even happier now that not only does Babymetal look like it has a new lease on life, but that they really seemed to be enjoying themselves on stage together with Momoko. These girls are precious. Let's protect them in any way we can (not much, I know).

This is definitely something I would want to show new fans or even their critics. Who might not know their motivations as this helps to shut down some of those false assumptions.
Everyone has to start somewhere right? I wasn't that much of metal fan growing up. However, as time went on I began to respect it a lot more, especially now.
Babymetal has really been a great ambassador in helping to bridge that gap & now has really opened the door for others to follow. I would have never found Band-Maid, Nemophila, LoveBites.
Along with Fate Gear and Hanabie to name a few. It has been a real renaissance & the best thing to happen to metal in years. Ladies are definitely bona-fide Rockstars now. 🤘🦊💕

The BABYMETAL project gave them a lot, no doubt, it would have been way harder to run for ten years and keep going if they were staying in the Idol world, so they have to be proud of their choices and their hard work. And we definitely are grateful for that.
But they had to go through many sacrifices through all those years, especially at the beginning, it must have been really hard to hold their lives together in such a challenging situation.

Babymetal brought a lot of things to these two strong and incredible young women (and I don't forget Yui of course), but also to millions of people around the world, including me. Their songs have always given me strength in difficult times and I'm proud to say loud and clear that I'm a Babymetal fan.
They had their beginnings marked by a lot of criticism because of this new style of metal that they offered, but they also received a lot of support (from the public as well as from other metal bands) and after a decade, Babymetal put its eternal mark and has etched its name among the legendary metal bands that will forever remain in history.

Moa: "I have had to give up some things." She understands that being a celeb-it's like the statement from Woody Harrelson's character in The Hunger Games: "You never get off this train. Your personal life becomes theirs." Fortunately and unfortunately she is an only child-a sibling can be a help or a hinderance, it depends. If she's still in touch with Yui, that can be a substitute sibling, and no doubt, Su is as well, otherwise it is a lonely existence.

@@vegeta6555 Where I disagree with the "set for life" statement:
      1) The pandemic hit BM really hard, so hard that Kobametal basically had to save up and then hope for a much better financed group to use them as an opening act (BM only had one concert in one venue since Jan. 2020). That recently happened with Sabaton signing BM to be their opening act (it is VERY expensive to take amps, lights, intruments and staff on tour-transportation, hotels, feeding your staff and artists, etc.).
      2) Su was recently photographed riding public transportation. If she was "set for life", she would be driving around in a Mercedes, not riding a train.

@@NibsUK2121 Well like I have said before.. There are alot of BM themed channels out there and thats great, it keeps the girls in the meta and keeps people talking, viewing, reacting, whatever about them. I know I could throw up and bunch of clips and songs from Blurays and what not and we have seen them so many times. And yes, you could make "montage/proshot" videos as well but the biggest issue is this... Ive done proshot montage videos twice before. When I do things I am all in fully. I give you my 100%. My best. So for example...
      th-cam.com/video/gQRV6yW0b4M/w-d-xo.html
This Syncopation Proshot montage is from everytime they have performed Synco on a Bluray. It has to flow. It has to blend. I want each moment captured and look its best it can.
      th-cam.com/video/rSGJ-4RDKYQ/w-d-xo.html
This YAVA one is from all 10 times. Same as Synco. Same effort.
These take A TON of time. But if people like them its worth it. Bad thing is if TH-cam flags it for a clip or show, you have to keep editing over and over until you can get it to post. Here recently it has been about stepping away from that and just trying to bring hidden gems if you will to mates. Stuff heard about but never seen. Im working on something right now actually that would fit this. For me, these days its about education, showing fans new and old either things never seen or things forgotten. Keeping some hidden lore alive if you will.
My thing has always been.. If I am not giving you my best then what I am giving you? It's not about numbers or subs or any of that. It is about mates, the comments, seeing people happy they experience new things and so forth. Moa's words in this video really give a glimpse into things. Amazing thoughts and feelings. I kind of went all over the place there lol my bad. I get sidetracked in thought sometimes. xD

@@ButtonsMetal I love the montage vids, and I can see why they would take a huge amount of time to get done. Only thing is that when swapping from a Su/Moa/Yui clip to a just Su/Moa clip it throws into full relief that Yui's gone, perhaps more than just watching a Su/Moa period live performance does, and it's a little like losing her again, sniff (particularly happened in the Syncopation vid, c. 3:58, where Yui seemed to get lifted out of the vid by space aliens).
I love that a lot of your vids have done what you stated: shown me stuff that's new to me, and that's just great. No probs at all about rolling over a lot of points in your comment - it was good to hear the genuine words come through.
Keep up the great work, sir.

@@NibsUK2121 Thank you so much for the support. It means alot. To explain a little with the transitions you mentioned that yeah, to some it could sting to see her there one moment and gone from the next scene but in the end sometimes those cuts are what is needed to heal. If you spend your time constantly watching shows and such with only the OG 3 in it then in your mind you will always see it as "she is there". We need to help one another move forward, heal and progress best we can into the future of BM. We will never forget her love, effort or her devotion and it will always remain deeply in our hearts but at the safe time we need to make peace with it, move forward, hold on to those memories in our mind and cheer for the future.

Moa and Su know exactly why Yui left even though they don't speak on it, and having that in mind makes the words of both these ladies even more impactful to me. Considering that we're going on 6 years now with no word at all from Yui, I feel it's a near certainty that she left the group of her own volition and any talk of "injury" or "poor health" as reasons for her departure were exaggerated at best. That's right, after all these years I'm calling bullshit on every corporate "OFFICIAL STATEMENT" and fan theory save for the most obvious one: Yui just wanted to be a normal Japanese woman with a normal Japanese woman's life.
Su was probably destined to be a star the moment she was handed a live mic. Moa and Yui are/were amazing dancers and worked incredibly hard for those skills, but who would they have orbited into stardom if not Su-Metal? Great dancers are made every day, so were either of them viable for a solo career in music? None of us can say, all we know for certain is that they were both tapped by Koba primarily because they were fast friends and hyper-kawaii. If we're being completely honest, Moa and Yui were in the right place at the right time. If not for the grace of the Fox God, they might still be struggling to maintain a respectable following on social media platforms with not much recognition beyond that, like so many of their fellow idols. International fame would obviously have been out of the question.
I'm so conflicted watching this, because part of me resents Yui for not feeling the same as Moa and so now we've been deprived of being able to see all three of them sharing this precious moment together in adulthood. But then there's another part of me that admires Yui for the courage it must have taken to decide that a future in Babymetal wasn't for her. Being part of a touring musical ensemble is very much a relationship that must be nurtured, and personal sacrifice is inevitable to maintain it. And like any relationship, it's easy to get stuck in unhealthy ones and convince yourself that you've put too much of your life into it, or you've already given up too much to just quit and start over, so you resign yourself to sticking it out and making the best of it. Many people end up living very unhappy lives because of situations like that. I suspect Yui was feeling the early stages of that before she got "sick," and her uninspired final performances are evidence of it. In this interview, Moa almost sounds like she may feel that way too, but that's when she drops what is the bomb for me:
She is so humble and unashamed to confess her gratitude to the creatives who gave her the opportunity to experience a fandom's love on a global scale as Moametal. She makes no bones about the fact that she never would've been able to lead the life she does without Babymetal. Moreover, her reveal that she feels like she's accomplished greater things than she ever would have without sacrifice is a testament to the strength and selfless generosity of her character. The things that she's given up throughout half of her life are not her regrets, they are her trophies, and she's PROUD of them. What an absolutely fucking awesome lady she has grown into. Even a hater would have to admit that her attitude is as metal as it gets.
Probably not a popular position amongst The One, but Babymetal has been dead to me since Yui's departure. The gimmick had a shelf life, and Yui may have been the only one who truly understood that in the end. To quote the great Roger Waters: "The child is grown, the dream is gone." I have only recently re-inserted myself into the fandom because I'm hoping to see Su and Moa achieve a level of success that outshines Babymetal, in artistry and performance if not spectacle. The new singles are certainly promising, and if Su keeps getting writing credits all the better. I'll support both of them in their chosen careers whether or not they're attached to the BM brand. I'd actually cringe a bit less if they weren't, but I understand the marketing importance of it. I'm sure they'll do fine in Japan at least.

This was a very emotional and profound statement. Alot of this I agree with you on because I have never bought into the "sick" "health" thing as well. There has been so much speculation again these days because BM is touring again you hear the murmurs of "Could Yui be coming back?" and I recently told this to someone tonight...
"Or maybe Yui does not want to be mentioned and discussed. She has not been out in public and has not been seen for quite some time. So maybe it is Yui's wishes to not be involved or talked about. People seem to forget, Yui is not part of BABYMETAL or any IDOL group. She is free to do what she wants. If she is not being public than maybe Yui wants it that way. It is easy to think that Koba and others are not mentioning her, what is hard is accepting that maybe she wants to be forgotten, she wants to just live her life and does not want to come back. It has been 5 years. If she wanted to be seen or heard she would have by now. Even the girls who used to be part of Amuse have now had pictures taken, seen in public, social media and so forth. Yui is free to do all these things but she has not. It is not Koba. It is not Amuse. It is Yui choosing to do this for her own reasons. I know this is very rough to accept but this is a very real possibility."
As I said in the pinned comment Moa's words here are the reason I use the profile pic I do. I have also said it would be nice to see Su and Moa drop the outfits and grow from where they were fully. Let them be themselves and not a cosplay anymore. Let them show more of their personality with clothing choices and so forth. The "idol" thing did indeed have its own place and time when they were kids sure but with them being adults it seems "off" at times maybe?
In the end I just want their happiness and success. I will support them through and through in what they do. It used to be about this amazing band I love and enjoy so much but now it has nurtured into respect and admiration for these two who have taught me quite a few things on life. As for Yui? Well.. tonight I had to save a statment I am giving to people who ask me about her, if she is coming back, about the rumors and so forth and that statement is...
"I do not talk about YUIMETAL because it was her choice to leave BABYMETAL and stay out of the public spotlight since October 2018. To respect her privacy and her well-being I simply do not get into conversations or speculation about her. Her choice is to remain hidden so I respect her choice. Sorry for any inconvenience."
It's this way for me. Again, cheers mate for the honesty and insight. New song to drop soon so lets hope for the best to come.

@@ButtonsMetal I believe you're spot-on about Yui. She could easily gather hundreds of thousands of followers to the SM account(s) of her choice within the span of a month if she wanted. Clearly she doesn't want that. I only hope that her continued silence is not an indication that she feels some measure of remorse or guilt about choosing to go her own way. She had to know that leaving could put the future of the group in jeopardy (as it very much did). Whatever the case, leaving BM behind had to be a brutally difficult decision for her to make, at 16/17 years old no less!
I totally understand your policy concerning Yui, it's the most direct way to respect her wishes. But like Mikio, she has left a legacy behind and will always be the subject of many, many questions as long as the BM brand persists. I'll always feel a twinge of bittersweet sadness when I see Mikio perform because I have the answer I need for that closure, but listening to Moa in this clip and recalling Yui jumping around 10 years ago alongside her makes me wonder about everything SHE missed out on. Moa and Yui literally lived mirrored lives professionally, to the extent that I could totally get behind Moa speaking about their past on Yui's behalf. And that's kinda what drove her thoughts home for me and made me think of Yui: Hearing Moa speak of the sacrifices she's made and knowing that Yui also worked hard and gave everything she had. Su and Moa still have their careers and The One but there is currently no avenue for fans to assure Yui that her years of work and sacrifice are appreciated (nor is there any indication that she would benefit from such reassurance, so at least there's that). I just hope she's receiving as much joy out of life as she has given and regrets nothing.
Yep, it's the Su and Moa Show now, and I'm here for it.

@@ButtonsMetal I completely agree with not discussing Mizuno Yui. And I respect the fact that all involved with the Babymetal organization have honored her desires. She remains out of the public of her own volition and I will continue to respect that. As I respect Suzuka's and Moa's private lives, which I also believe is their decision.
I was recently reminded of a comment in Metal Hammer article "10 Years of Babymetal" Paraphrasing the article:
Yui stated there is a strong desire to meet again as Mizuno Yui. (Whatever the reason, it was primarily HER decision to leave.) Yuka Okubon (long-time fan and friend) was shocked about Yui's departure stating, I know the girls have known each other since elementary school. So, I believed the bond was so strong that they would stay together. When I spoke with Yui, she explained she had to go, follow her own path, and dreams. She'll always be part of Babymetal.
Su-metal states Yui is like a family member. Although she left, we'll continue to support her. For me this was not a platitude, but Su's true feeling. In other interviews, Su and Moa said they remain in contact with Yui. I truly hope and believe their bond still remains strong and continue to be good friends. I believe this is one of the reasons Su and Moa don't want a permanent / official third member of Babymetal. They respect Yui's sacrifices and contribution to the early success of Babymetal; stating she cannot be replaced.

@@ButtonsMetal Yes, yes, yes! Thank you for this comment! I am sometimes getting annoyed when people come up with theories about Yui coming back. Just let her have her life back. As Moa said, she gave Babymetal (almost) half of her life. She won't have it back. IMO It's really selfish of fans to make an assumption she would come back at this point. I never believed in the "health issues" either, although I thought that maybe Yui was burnt out. Her last performances seemed (to me) to be done kind of on autopilot and not that much enjoyment is seen on Yui's face as compared to previous years. People seem to forget that she's been doing that since she's been a kid. Like Moa, she surely had to make a lot of sacrifices because of that. So maybe in the long run, it just simply wasn't what she wanted to do with her life. I'm guessing this decision was very hard for her to make anyway.
And to compare it to a normal average person's life - if I decided to leave a company, especially if that company made me burnt out, and I kept seeing everywhere "Is she coming back to the company? She's coming back, right?" I would be seriously fed up. It's been over 4 years, and don't get me wrong - I miss her and the dynamic that girls had as a trio. But she is a person, not a robot to fulfill fans' wishes. I wish Yui all the best whatever she chooses to do or not do, to just live her life as SHE sees fit.

these strong lovely young women sacrificed their childhood, their youth and their freedom to live normally for babymetal...and for "the one"
....and if these incredible strong women would announce tomorrow that they retire, i would bow deeply with a benevolent smile and express my thanks and best wishes for the future and greet these three bright comets, as at the end of "the one-stairway to living legend", with tears in my eyes and a slight smile afterwards....it would have been an honor for me.

Imagine them not to play with their friends, doing some kiddy stuff for the past 10 years is gruesome to imagine. And yet, here they are giving us the music that helps us get through our rough times. Arigato, babymetal for the awesome music.

    What heavy words from MoaMetal.
The early days of BABYMETAL culminated in the 2016 Tokyo Dome concert. I had some information at the time that convinced me that the three members felt that way, and there were signs that they were going to take a long break after that. I can't provide the source of the information now, but I was convinced by listening to interviews and such.
So I was surprised when I heard the news that they were going to support RHCP for a long period of time right after that, and I was worried about their mental health. It might have been a bolt from the blue because the support tour was decided right after RHCP's visit to Summer Sonic that summer. Why the harsh tour in support of RHCP when they had successfully performed at the Tokyo Dome, the largest facility in Japan, and had established themselves? And the musicianship is completely different! This may be a problem with Amuse's corporate attitude of spending too much money on the stage, or it may be a sign of their respect for their fans, but it may also put a burden on the artists.
I worked so hard, but why? It was after the support tour that Yui's expression tended to cloud over, so on the contrary, Moa is amazing for overcoming that. If even Moa had dropped out there, BABYMETAL would have broken up in the air, and that's when Moa's dancing changed. She seemed to have been reborn by absorbing Yui's character to fill the hole left by Yui's departure.
Moa, who inherited Yui's elements, is surely teaching the supporting Avengers how to dance, and she is the spiritual pillar of BABYMETAL, having staved off the collapse.
So MoaMetal's words in this interview are very important. In a way, Moa didn't just save BABYMETAL. It is no exaggeration to say that she has supported the souls of our fans and the spirit of rock/metal, which has long been said to be in decline. Moa's current position as the muse of rock/metal may have been predestined from the time she was glued to the sound of a live band at Shibuya O-EAST 10 years ago.

@NoVaCrowsNest Su and Moa have considerable influence within the Babymetal organization, including song selection and choreography. Even in the early years, their suggestions and desires were considered. As an example, it was the girls that wanted to fly over the audience, which resulted in the pyramid floating stage during the song "the One". When Yui left, SuMoi's desire to continue was their decision.

@@ButtonsMetal You have a valid point that the "fanatical" obsession with Yui may contribute to her reluctance to reappear. She was always shy and reserved; introverted. For an introvert excessive attention can cause one to withdraw into themselves even more.
Tienes razón en que la obsesión "fanática" por Yui puede contribuir a su reticencia a reaparecer. Siempre fue tímida y reservada, introvertida. Para una persona introvertida, una atención excesiva puede hacer que se encierre aún más en sí misma.
