I lost everything in a fire a year ago and the first things i bought was the balmbina palette from the balm, their products are like multifunctional, love their blushes and highlighters and i love the quality. (I also got the milani eye and cheek palette, the lifter glosses from Maybelline, their Sky High Mascara, Fit me powder, and Nyx Eyeliner, and Missha bb cream. Losing everything was a very humbling experience and it really like reframed my mind of what you actually need in life. Love your video. ❤

I have a fun idea for you: Do a full face of things that are almost used up, things that you’re trying to get rid of because you want to try something new or because it’s old or something. I’m currently working on that! I’m trying to use up some eyeshadows I hit pan on, a bronzer that I hit pan on and a foundation because I’m dying to try a new one but can’t justify it *yet* until I use something up. Just an idea. This video was made for me! I developed horrible eczema and psoriasis as a result of hormones and allergies. I ended up giving all my makeup away about 5 years ago. I now realized I'm not quite as sensitive as I once was and I'm getting back into makeup. Just recently got the elf camo concealer and i can't believe how good it is. After going through chemo a few years ago, I developed allergies to some of my previous cosmetics which included all of my liquid-to-powder shadows and some of the glosses. My lashes and brows were sparse, and my skin became very dry instead of normal to dry. So I really had to start over with everything...a little at a time. Skincare was first...I started with some things from The Ordinary, then I bought a tubing mascara to help protect my lashes as they grew back, and I became obsessed with finding the right brow pencils because I looked weird with half of my brows missing. Then little by little, once my skin was in a good place, I started buying eyeshadow palettes, tinted moisturizers, etc. Now I watch you and a few others so I can learn how to use it all.😊

Tartlette in Bloom is the eye shadow I would buy ASAP!
I think Colourpop could replace a good amount of things in a pinch. Not lipstick or foundation, but their eyeshadows are great, the new glosses are really nice and in general you could get most of your powder products there as well.
Great suggestion, haven’t used Colourpop shadows in years, might be worth giving them a shot again. I thought the recommended Persona eyeshadow palette was nice but then I saw the price - whoa, not in my budget!! 😱👀🤔
The ColourPop Pretty Fresh line is really good, though. The tinted moisturizer and foundation are both favorites of mine.

Emily - Yes, before I retired I managed a large team of IT consultants - so travel was a commonplace event. So my story is I was meeting with a client and working with them for a week. I arrived Sunday, my luggage did not. So off to a Walgreens - I had moisturizer in my brief case (with me) and one lipstick and liner. So I picked up a primer, a bb cream, concealer (I find that works better for me for staying power) a blush, eyeliner and 1 small trio or quad of eyeshadow - my luggage went to Oregon, I was in San Francisco...it then went to Connecticut (where I live) and was waiting there for me when I returned. From Walgreens I went to Target picked up a black skirt and a black pair of trousers, 3 tanks and one sweater (I had a grey jacket on),,,,a few other "need to haves" - the day before I was coming home I had everything washed and asked the concierge to arrange for the items to be donated. I came home with what I had brought with me - The make up was thrown away,,, :( but, I will admit I was initially stressed, but then I laughed and enjoyed myself!

Wow, if I lost everything, I'd quickly get the Maybelline Sky High Mascara, Loreal Infallible Powder Foundation, Wet n Wild Incognito concealer to highlight and contour, Nyx Line loud lipliner and black sharpenable eyeliner, Wet n wild lip gloss, Rephr Eye lash curler and 29 liner brush, an all matte ELF Bite Size palette, and some blushes from Milani probably. Id go from there.
That Sydney Grace palette-omg!!! What a stunner 😍✨
The Identity 1 palette changed my mind about having a whole palette of “just brown” shadows, I use it more than any other palette and along with the Identity 2 palette to throw in a color. It really is a pleasure to use.
Persona 1 & 2 are my number one palettes thanks to you, would love to see them come out with a new one.

I finally got myself some of those pink powder puffs to apply powder to set my concealer and let me tell you GameChanger! I am 55 and I had never been happy with how my concealer turned out, but this powder puff hack! Love it.

Do you think the products you’d keep would be the same if it went the other way: having to declutter all but one product in each category? I did have a house fire and lost everything. At the time I couldn’t afford to go replace my makeup so I actually went to a Dillards and they gave me a bunch of samples!

@@lynnewright31 thank you! I’ll also add that I went to Belks and they were so kind to provide me with skincare samples and a bunch of perfume samples. Our Dillards is closed too and I miss it! Also the Red Cross was very helpful during that time. The firefighters were amazing! I had a seizure and knocked over a candle that caught my brand new wispy curtains on fire and things escalated from there. I was unconscious and they kicked in the door and saved me. Thankfully I wasn’t injured and my teenage son was at basketball practice so no one was hurt.

Thank you for this video! I’m rebuilding my entire makeup collection. I threw everything out because I was having allergic reactions, but turns I didn’t have to 😢. I found out I have MCAS - so, I can have an anaphylactic reaction to anything at anytime, but nothing is actually a true allergy that stays consistent (fabulous doctor, meds have calmed down my body, and I can wear makeup again 🎉! )RIP my Urban Decay Naked palettes. But I hadn’t worn makeup in 4 years so most stuff was close to or already expired anyways. So, I’m starting over and wow it’s expensive to try out things that don’t always work for me!Btw, I totally agree that eyeshadows are worth the extra $ because while lots of drugstore make up is just as good as high end, eyeshadows are hard to find a good formula at a lower price point.
Over the years I've come to enjoy trying out different makeup brands, also quite a few high-end ones. But my down-to-the-core staples at least a few of which are with me whenever I travel and which I would stock up on first - given all my makeup is gone - tend to be rather unglamorous tried and tested things that never let me down in the past. Most of them very affordable and some really really cheap too.
So if I had to put together a basic set from scratch again without having to think too much, this would be it:
- Bourjois healthy mix BBCream or Missha BB cream
- Rimmel Hide the Blemish concealer
- Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer
- Bourjois Rice Powder
- Essence Bronzing Powder (although I rarely use bronzer and if then only very light shades)
- Clinique Cheek Pop Blush (I think the most expensive item in this list)
- L'oreal Age Perfect Cream eyeshadow
- 1-2 additional single powder eyeshadows from Essence
- Any bronze eyeliner from Essence
- L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara
- Whatever cream stick or liquid highlighter is available cheap from either Essence or Catrice
Again, I do own a lot of high-end stuff too (Mac, Estee Lauder, CT, Shiseido etc) and love many of their products, but if I had to quickly build a new set to use RIGHT NOW, I would really be in a pinch because from a certain price range you really ponder a bit 'Was that really good and reliable enough to be worth the money? Should I really repurchase?' etc
Those items in that list, I know they are always readily available. I know they work for me every time. And I know they won't break the bank if I have to buy them all at once.
I’m wearing that foundation today too. I’m scraping out the last little bit from the bottom. Love it!
I have had problems with every primer I've tried but I have recently found the Revolution h2o hydrate primer and I have been loving it. I no longer need to powder 40 times a day and I actually see foundation still on my face at the end of the night. The best part it's $5 bucks at Walmart!

About 10 years ago on,my way to the beach, my luggage was lost thanks to the airline. Early the next day I rushed to Walmart replaced all my toiletries, basic needs and makeup.
Another drugstore option I would do is profusion. Not only for the brushes like you said but their eyeshadow palettes, blush palettes and their bronze/contour palettes.
PS they just came out with liquid bronzer and highlighters….could you review them???

Great suggestions! I’d like to see you do a video for a MINI MAKEUP KIT for carry on travel but no sample sizes. We are trying to travel with carry on only these days and I want the option of a mini makeup kit I can leave in my suitcase all the time and not have to think about packing makeup for every trip. I’ve tried making my own kit decanting stuff into containers and it is sometimes more stressful than packing my clothes. It would be nice to have your suggestions of the best store bought small sizes that work great for a mini travel kit.
Going to HEB, Walgreens, or Target and buy a full face of skin care and makeup would be fun.

I would definitely look for a palette that has a full face of stuff. One I’ve enjoyed is the Physicians Formula palette that has blush, bronze, eye shadows and lip colors.

That is my absolute favorite foundation.. I actually just repurchased the shade 3-4 light medium.. I swear it is my exact, best color match I've ever found! I love it so much. I even bought it in the next lighter shade and in the next darker shade, but shade 3-4 is right on the money. I believe this is the first time I have ever used up a foundation! Lol So far, I'm agreeing with your picks 😉 lol

On a trip i have forgotten my liquid eyeliner but lucky i had a mini one in my purse I used. Most of the time I remember everything. It takes me time to pack my makeup in a trip so I usually double check everything the last couples before we leave.

Girl, do you remember several years ago I forgot my makeup back at home when I went on vacation. Ugh that sucked!! I still have that one NYX palette. I won’t throw it away. The Love Contours All palette. All I had were my brushes (thank goodness), skin care, and glosses that were in my purse. So yes, any kind of scenario can happen. Came home weeks later and there it was sitting on my bed. That palette is the only thing I remember buying.

i always bring my cheapy makeup when i travel so i can check it in the luggage on the way home, or even chuck out the stuff that doesn't make the cut!

I had lost most of all my makeup in an interstate move where the movers taken lots of my belongs as well as makeup. I replaced my foundation with a mini IT cosmetics bb, cover girl super stay mascara, the Ulta dupe of highlight, bronzer and blush, HD finishing powder and maybelline superstay liquid lip.
I haven't been without Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso since college (I'm 35 now...). I have also repurchased Elf Hydrating Camo Concealer countless times. And definitely Maybelline Lifter Gloss in Moon because I could wear that every day and be perfectly content. I'd have to think a lot harder for other categories here...🤔
If I had to replace all of my makeup, this would be my list:
Revlon Colorstay foundation, Tarte Shapetape Concealer, Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless pressed powder, Butter Bronzer (maybe the new trio they have) Wet n Wild blushes, or maybe Essence Pure Nude blushes... can't decide, Flower Beauty Highlight palette, a nude Colourpop eyeshadow palette, Loreal Lash Paradise and Wet n wild Mega length for the lower lash, Essence Long Lasting eye pencils (brown and nude), Palladio eyebrow pencil, Essence Make Me Brow, NYX lipliner in Mauve and London, and lastly, Essence Extreme Shine lipgloss in Clear.
My brushes would be a mix of ELF, Eco Tools and Wet n Wild brushes and my sponge would be the Pink Eco Tools one. Phew!!!! Did I miss anything? 😂😂
