I really think a dual approach is needed with our young people: an investment from government and an investment from parents. We absolutely need youth centres, free activities, living out of impoverished environments and not in unsuitable housing - but also parents need to actually be bringing up their kids, interacting with them, helping them develop and find their passions. Further, teaching them to respect other people, values, boundaries and education whether that's vocational or ‘academic’ all trades are valuable but unfortunately so many of our young people clearly can't see themselves as being able to contribute anything to society...

In their defence though, you cannot fully blame the parents because parents are not the only source of influence in a child’s life. Growing up, I was influenced more by my peers at school than my parents because my parents struggled financially and were mostly out working to ensure I was fed and clothed. Just grateful I hung out with good people 😊
