good recipe. I'd add the already cooked tuna at the very end to warm it up. just not sure why you would want to cook the tuna for another 20 mins. it's already overcooked in the can.
Same for garlic - just add another clove at the very end, so it would get in between of raw and cooked. This will be of different taste, than first you added. BTW, I do not cut onion so fine, that is not at all needed. Slice onion to half, then give each another cut, parallel to the earlier, lay down and slice with 5-6 cuts. Layers of onion will separate in pan, chunks will shrink and likely melt with this long cooking.

As a Portuguese person I have never seen this dish in my life, especially with the Parmigiano at the end. However, it does look like a cheap, easy, and delicious meal.
I’ve been married to Portuguese man for nearly 60 years. His mother taught me how to cook tomato rice. I cook with chicken stock, not wine. Don’t use tuna. It’s an option.
Guten Appetit! 😋
i cook this also, however i prefer to have the rice cooked extra, much faster and easier, i also use lots of onions with the sauce, then i serve the rice with butter on top and chopped dill, and then the sauce on top of it :) this way the sauce can cook properly long which is allways necessary when using tomatopaste, if using enough oil and also sharp habanero chilli it forms this wonderfull "red oil" on top and then the dry rice can wonderfully soak it up, spoon by spoon. if you put the rice uncooked inside it becomes mushy and its much harder to get it soft...its much easier to cook the rice extra...that way you can also know the exact amount of water which is allways 1 portion of rice:2 portions of water.
Interesting. Im a Portuguese Canadian and grew up eating this. My father loved it. But instead of tuna we would fry up fish and eat it with the tomato and pea rice.

I’ve been making this for over 30 years LOL. Except I boil the rice when I’m preparing the rest of the dish and add it when cooked. Saves a lot of time. I’ve never added peas. But do add fresh Ginger, turmeric, curry powder and Italian herbs. Gives it a unique flavour. Cheap, cheerful and yummy.
Yep, I do the boil in bag rice too. Makes it a lot faster/more convenient to make for me. I never knew it was popular in portugal, I just did it as a poor single guy fresh out of college.

I've seen plenty of professional chefs go without washing the rice. I think this is an overrated/not needed step for the most part. I end up with one big pan of base food which I can then add any meat or fish or beans to some of it and eat for several days or freeze some for later.
What you started with (olive oil, garlic, onion, tomatoes, salt) is also the FOUNDATION of almost every Italian "sugo". Once the "sugo" is done, we may add tuna, green olives, black olives, capers, many of us chili peppers as well, little more cooking and then spaghetti (already cooked separately)! Buon appetito! PS Very important: NO Parmigiano, NO CHEESE at all, we in Italy usually DO NOT add cheese to first dishes (pasta or rice) with fish.

dont fry the garlic so so long, garlic needs 20-max30 sec. TOP when added this way in the pan, then it changes the taste and flavor. Just cook the onion enough and add the garlic 20-30s before the tomato sauce
Looks yummy and easy. I could make this tonight with veggie better than bullion for the broth, but I dont have white wine or frozen peas. Maybe it would be fine without those two things?
Yes of course 😇. You can replace the wine with broth and just leave out the peas 😊.. or instead use veggies you have at home, for example zucchini or bell pepper 😃😋

Thank you. Short and tasty. Lovely for a mid week meal at the end of a long day 😌 Do you use prewashed rice? If not you might want to look up the issue of heavy pesticide contamination with most rice on the market. I rince mine up to 15 times depending on the rice until the water is clear.
The trick* with the can, in which you put water in again, I've been using forever. 😁 Even for red cabbage to get every scrap out of the jar. Your recipe looks really tasty. Fish, rice, tomato, vegetables - you can't go wrong with anything. 👍 I would even try broccoli with it because my husband is not a big fan of peas. Or even mushrooms. Or both at the same time. 😂 Wishing you happy holidays from the Palatinate! 😘 clump together and if you're unlucky, even mold forms in the can! Sprinkle canned spices onto small plates or tablespoons and then add them to the food; this keeps the contents of the can dry! Enjoy your meal! *The word Trick: was it borrowed from English or vice-versa.

Do you use prewashed rice? If not you might want to look up the issue of heavy pesticide contamination with most rice on the market. I rince mine up to 15 times depending on the rice until the water is clear.
Perfektes Sportler Gericht. Vielen Dank❤
The trick* with the can, in which you put water in again, I've been using forever. 😁
Even for red cabbage to get every scrap out of the jar.
Your recipe looks really tasty. Fish, rice, tomato, vegetables - you can't go wrong with anything. 👍 I would even try broccoli with it because my husband is not a big fan of peas. Or even mushrooms. Or both at the same time. 😂
Wishing you happy holidays from the Palatinate! 😘
clump together and if you're unlucky, even mold forms in the can!
Sprinkle canned spices onto small plates or tablespoons and then add them to the food; this keeps the contents of the can dry!
Enjoy your meal!
*The word Trick: was it borrowed from English or vice-versa.
merci bcp l ami bonne journee a toi aussi👍👍
Dit ga ik zeer zeker proberen ❤
In other words, mix everything you find in your kitchen.
I would add some green onions, parsley, and extra virgin olive oil then the Parmesan. Thanks!
Bravissima 🥰🥰💖💖
This looks amazing! Can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
sieht lecker aus 😋👍
I thought i was the only one who washed there tins out with a little water to add to the stock lol
😆 I've learned this from my father who is a chef 😎😃
Everyone on a budget does this to avoid waste and maximise value.
I have been doing this also for 50 years now!
I didn't realise there was any other way to get the entire contents of the can out.......
T.O.P. ! ! !
👍🥰👍
+ Danke für Inspiration & Rezept 😎
This looks so yummy 🤗
Thanks 🤗
Looks lovely. Will be trying this. Thank you ❤️
Hi! ❤
Danke für den Tipp😃. Hört sich lecker an! 😋
Made this recipe from this video with chicken and peppers. Loved it! 👌
Looks simple and nutritious. It is my understanding that actually the vitamins and other nutrients increase when tuna is cooked.
Have a beautiful day! 🥰
@@Marcel-uo9xn Koch für was ?
