- This week my buddy Deke and I are on a our 4th show in the series called “In Depth” and each episode we will pick an album and dive a little deeper in to it. We decided we would do a mini-Queensryche series and go from their E.P. up to ‘Promised Land’. We are now up to their 3rd Full Length album and 4th release with 1988's 'Operation: Mindcrime'. As my fellow blogger Deke knows, while my music taste is pretty eclectic and I've listened to some metal, I'm far from being a metal expert. When it comes to Queensrÿche, I only know them by name. Based on sampling a few tracks from this album, they sound fairly melodic. As such, their music looks accessible. My all-time favorite hard rock band remain Deep Purple who I'm actually going to see for the second time this Saturday, together with Yes! But Deke is broadening my horizon, slowly turning me into a metalhead! 😆

Very nice video guys, thanks for sharing. Although Iron Maiden is my favorite band of all time, this is my favorite album of all time. I was just totally sucked in to both the music and the story when I heard it back in '89 or whatever. The concept was put together in such a way that puts other concept albums to shame, I agree with Snowman that other stuff just doesn't hold up to this. And the music was insane - they had the production down so tight on this one, they were a rock/metal band but also still had their own sound through this. Speak is actually my favorite track, followed by Eyes and Don't Believe In Love, but honestly I love everything on this album, including the interludes.
