I love that your giving ideas to people who may have the 1.0 version and be frustrated. You have shown a lot that can be done by really knowing your paints. Great video! @TheArmyPainter you have the right artist here showing what can be done. Good job.
Hey, I just want to say a genuine thank you so, so much for making this video. As someone starting out with painting as a hobby, I picked up some paint from the local hobby store, and I got speed paint 2.0, which, as a beginner, I wasn’t too adept at using it. With this video though, I was able to greatly improve in a rapid manner. Thank you for making this video.
I love your style of combining all the paint tools for the job. Just discovered you and blasting through your content. Thanks for doing what you do my man
Thank you so much for making this. I am just looking at getting back into painting models ( old man who used to paint 25 years ago ) I am from the generation where we used to paint a base colour, layer, use inks as washes, layer again, highlight and so on. I think I will have a lot of fun with speedpaints and medium. By the way I sub'd and I don't usually sub to painters but this one was an easy sub. By the way I notice they do a Speedpaint Starter with about 10 colours in it. I bet you already have those colors, and I would be interested how many useful colours you could make with just those 10 using simple 1:1 mixing methods as along with a bottle of medium and a few bottles of acrylics and primer I think it might make a bargain starter kit.
This was SO informative, thank you so much!!! I just found out that I've been applying speedpaints as a wash to all my minis! 😄 I use slapchop and i find that using the undiluted speedpaints hides too much the underpainting, so it spoils it in my opinion , hence i started mixing medium. However i didnt know about the difference in glaze and wash and perhaps i could get stronger tones with a glaze than with a wash without jding the slapchop; I'll give it a go. BUT NOOOOO, i was SO looking forward to how you treat/highlight the metallics on this mini, and its not in this video! Please do a masterclass on speedpaints metallic use, including weathering, pleae please please!! Thanks again for sharing your skills, this is SO helpful! 🤙🤙🤙👏👏👏
Hi Don, have you run into any issues with the speedpaint cracking? I have only seen it really bad on a Wizkids pre-primed mini. But, I’ve noticed that small patches of the primer peel out on high points like spikes and stuff. Almost like the paint runs off those high points without tinting it.
A lot of mass produced minis are sprayed with solvents to release them from molds. I suggest a quick soak in soapy water. You may also need a coat of white paint over the primer for the speed pigments to grip.
@@DonSuratos I think you're right about the pooling. It was my first time and I was testing them. I also think @W2theG is right too. Wizkids minis are...not the greatest.
Probably a dumb question but did you just straight paint direct from bottle to the tip of the lid or did you put white down first? I would love to do how yours are setup
I just wanna thank you sir for sharing your knowledge. I've been reading your tutorials on your blogspot (dc23) way back when i was in highschool and starting gunpla (around 2010 i think). It helped me a lot.
@@DonSuratos i used a car spraycan white. And it migth not have cured completely (i painted about 2hours later). And yes it was probably too thick someplaces, but it cracked everywhere I applied it (grim black and pallid bone), does the speed paints sometimes need to get thinned?

Nice that you go with time and use a lat of SpeedPaint
New to using speedpaints. Very helpful video. Thank you.
Oh glad you found the video helpful. I have an Army Painter Speedpaint playlist if you like to dive in more. 😊🎨🎨🎨

Thank you for the excellent video! I just bought some speed paints and had no idea what to do with the medium bottle. This helped a lot!
You are most welcome! The medium is awesome! 😊🎨🎨🎨
I've been using my Speedpaints like a heavy wash with great results.
Speedpaints are awesome. Did not think they can be versatile. 😊
@@DonSuratoscould this be applied to xpress colors as well?
This was a great video! I need to start using the Speedpaints as another tool vs just the "one and done" style i have.
Go for it! Thanks! Glad you liked the video! 😊

Oh thank you! Appreciate it bro! 😊🎨🎨🎨
I just discovered your video and enjoyed it. I use speed paints 2.0 so i need all the advice you have to offer. Thank you and keep up the good work
Glad you discovered my video! It’s hard to get discovered in miniature painting. Too many giant channels. 😅🎨🎨🎨
The wings looks great with this technique.

Great video, it's always good to see other brands or type of paints in action.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Great tutorial and the miniature is fantastic 😀
Thank you! 😊
Cool tutorial ! Thanks mate ✌🏼

Awesome to know you find this video helpful! Just trying to find the perfect mini for metallics. 😊
@@DonSuratos awesome, can't wait!
This is one of the best speed paint related tutorial I have ever seen.
Wow! Thank you! 💙🎨🎨🎨
I'm a first time watcher. Do you have a video where u explained difference between SpeedPaint, washpaind and glazepaint?
I have a speedpainting playlist 😊🎨🎨🎨
Great video I've just ordered the army painter speed paint 2.0 the complete set, and can i mix the paint to use as contrast paint
Would like to see how you added that green in the armour!
Looks like Dirty Down Verdegris
Ah yes… will find the perfect mini for a tutorial. 😊
indeed those wings look fantastic!
Thanks bro! 😊
Love the wings.

I have yet to run into it bro. Maybe because I try to clean up too much pooling? Or because I have yet to paint a Wizkids mini. 😊

Amazing! Is it possible with only to do it only with speedpaint 2.0 paints? Whats the distribution for medium/paint?
Also works with the old Speedpaints bro. Ratio is all up to you. 😊

What brushes do you use for speed paint? My brushes get destroyed very fast when I use speed paints
Очень жаль ,что так мало просмотров у таких прекрасных видео.
Not the typical “gimmick “ videos. 😊
I don't mind some videos been long, I need some elaborate details on the paints and models.

Omaygawd! You made me look sooooooo OLD! 😅😂🤣 You are most welcome though. Just enjoy the hobby! 🎨🎨🎨

My speedpaints cracks when they dry. Why does this happen?
There's a weird interaction between some types of primer and Speedpaints, especially if you're applying a thick cote.
Did you apply it too thick and let the thick heavy pooling dry?
Did you apply it too thick? What primer did you use? Is the primer fully cured?
@@DonSuratos i used a car spraycan white. And it migth not have cured completely (i painted about 2hours later). And yes it was probably too thick someplaces, but it cracked everywhere I applied it (grim black and pallid bone), does the speed paints sometimes need to get thinned?
Why do you always repeat the same stuff 3 times before progressing?😅
I have OCD. 😊
