A lesson from real life once you start harvesting you keep going, no bailing straw in the middle get the crop off first
Oh, this breaks my heart.
Dagger please do it just once!! Open with the OG opener "Realism is KEY" on one of these vids. Thumbs up on this everyone who agrees!!!
Yeeeeeeesssss, I totally forgot about that! Good idea!
Considering that the game is compressing a single month into a day you would have to imagine the average "day" per month would be the 15th which would push the harvest into the later stages of growth, and it would also depend on when you planted them. A fully withered crop is harsh, but when you play around with averages you're going to lose about half the time.
I believe Fairhead is an Irish map and the crop calender is likely correct for the area. I just checked Krumbach, ant the last month for Oat harvesting the the same, being August. Point of interest, Calmsden which is very much an English map, Oats can be harvested all through September. If I remember correctly, you had a wheat crop wither on your Calsmden series. My all time favorite map.
For baling there's a mod called Unload Bales Early, it allows you to unload partial full balers with a default 10% fill which will add to the realism over taking a partially full baler of straw/grass into a field with something else and having that add to what's already in the baler or convert to what you start picking up
The crop calender on the game is what counts real life irrelevant
I mean the Oat thing is academic, it tells you in the crop calendar and you should always look in it. Since you are doing one day months, you can take every day to be mid-that month. And mid-September is getting towards the time you should be planting winter oats. Obviously in real life you have a lot more leeway with when you harvest, you can leave it later if the crop is still alive. FS is not so flexible. It can be a lesson for all that when using Seasons, you always should be checking the harvest times (and planting times) to plan your farm activities!
My tip would be to always save bailing until after you finished harvesting all ripe crops. Straw goes nowhere.
Take the loss, mulch the crop, and plow the field. That's wat farming is .
About the withering of the oats, the thing is that the game runs 1 day per month, so you can't assume the day that you're playing is always the 1st of each month. And even if it is, game mechanics should run an avg of the estimatives for each month. This would mean, that if MOST of septemper the oats would be withered, it assumes it'd be withered for the entire month, since you only play for 1 day per month. Does that makes sense?
Also looking at the crop calender, look how the line for the month you're in assume you're in the middle of the month, around 15th of Sep. This would mean, you're harvesting way too late.
Why would you blow 18k on a bike when you’d still have to walk back to the shop for example to get it ? Surely there’s something more worth while buying
Hi, great video as always. I myself worked for a farmer before he retired who owned the farm in the east Midlands and I have harvested oats 1st week in September. I myself was the combine driver. Due to some parts of the field was still green In places when we where in late August. Plus the moisture wasn't where we would of liked it due to the wet weather in August that year. So we harvested the oat fields we had on the farm in September. So the answer to your question is yes Sometimes oats are harvested in early-early mid September in real life not always mid-late August. As obviously weather is a massive factor to it all
Ok 👍
Not in this game tho, it's not even a question. They answer is in the calendar it tells u when u can heavest and when u cant, end of discussion really
@phantom2101 yes your right the game doesn't always reflect real life obviously
Get a second sheep pen for all the male sheep lambs, feed them for 3 episodes then sell them.
What a pity, but i get the game logic: if it is september15th it really is too late now. Maybe you should switch to more days per month eventually. But how to keep it interesting with such few fields? I think there is a field lease-mod that allows you to work on fields for a daily fee. That could be a realistic mod to add! Thank you for your work so far, really enjoying it!
i got fs22 only cause of u
There is also a mod which allows you to fill the plastic wrap in the baler manually. Get the 'unload bales early' mod too because then you don't 'mix' products and means that you don't loose anything if there isn't enough for a full bale
I love how dagger decides to do a realistic series on a map that has the tiniest entries at literally every field 😂
Edit: he shouted out my comment in the next episode and no I couldn’t do any better just thought it was funny
It is what it is, maybe the time at X5 is to fast because you don't get around to do the fieldwork in time. A proper farmer would harvest as soon as the crop is ready anyway, and losing a crop is fearly realistic as well. Better luck next time.
You should use courseplay. It's still realistic, just make the worker ai a little less stupid.
You should have harvested both fields in August, and then you should have done the baling the next day. July and August are the months to harvest wheat and oats going from the games calendar you should have checked that.
Daggerwin please when you finish edgewater can you please play on balleyspring?
I’m playing on fairhead as well and cows are really good I don’t have many but they make lots and lots of milk they are a really good investment and I recommend getting them as can I have a shout out 😁
Hope that helps you
My opinion is if the crop’s withered, it’s withered. If they should be harvested in August, you should go by that. If it’s a wet August, that’s just the way it goes. Weather is one of the many hurdles a farmer encounters, and, obviously, has no control over. I’m not a farmer in real life, but watching other TH-camrs, I have heard of something to do with crop insurance or something like that, where if there’s some uncontrollable situation, you still get the money. Should you do that in the game? Depends on what other people say here. Again, that’s just my take on it.
On another topic, I’ve seen you crawling on top of the livestock trailer, hop over fences with gates, and this time, get up on the header. Those things are dangerous, so you might consider not doing that on this series.
Hello Daggerwin l really enjoy watching your videos and i think I'm the only subscriber from kenya
you could use bales to separate the grain piles.
Easy way to commute is hire a worker to drive you to the store and hire the worker to take the vehicle home. Or you could use the following me mod to have a worker follow you home. It’s kind of realism. Make sure you have the Kabota mod enabled and a vehicle that allows passengers. 👍😊
How about ths side by side at least you can put stuff in the back and tow stuff with it and all the farms I've been on they use a side by side to get around
daggerwin you shuldent bail stwaw inbatween hfest you shuld wate intill youv finisht and then do it if you agree gee it a fums up
I've been watching you since Purbeck on fs15 and I have to say watching your videos are so entertaining keep up the good work I hope that incredibly things come along in your life ❤❤
Yes that what happens in the game not in real life when you opened your menu that was your last chance to harvest it
U could use like taxi or something from like the store the farm. For long distances and take probs £50-100 using easy development mod or get Dennis to to u lol😂
i dont think it should have withered in September, but also... it should still be good for animal feed so i would give a few thousand litres of oats you can have in the shed for chicken feed as realistic, or half of the lowest value in sale money for about the equevelant yield of oats. as a farmer would never get nothing back from it unless the crop did not germinate at all
It should have not withered argh! I am so angry
It’s Thursday though we’re is survival co-op ??
Hey Daggerwin, Im gonna suggest this again, just incase you missed it, but might also help with when you should harvest. But maybe you could go to a 3 day per month system and have the time running at 15 instead of 5. Same amount of real time to use, but in the game you would get a day night cycle. also, each ingame day would account for 10 days of the month, so it all works out rather nicely.
If farmers are saying they do it mid to late August, then you probably should have finished it off in August aswell. But as you have said many times, you are not a real farmer, so live and learn, LOL.
Yeah, when you have only 1 day per month and 5X time, you’re in a small box. That’s why I play with 2 days per month and 3X time .
Multiple days per month would be better for this series. 4 days per month (one day is a week) seems very reasonable..
great video daggerwin 👍, maybe you should consider getting the Maizeplus mod to make feeding to animals and making silage a lot more realistic 😊
The calendar shows when fields can be harvested.
Unless I saw it wrong, it does say that you are too late for harvesting at the end of the video. So be it, that's the map setup :-)
Load your old calmsden farm file. I've got stars on mine.
I believe there is a taxi service mod.
Crop calendar rules in FS22. That how the game is programmed. Should have done harvest on both fields before bailing. Bailing could have easily been done in Sept
Surely even if it withered it would be good for chicken feed or sth like that
Hi Daggerwin, yeah you stuffed it up there with the Oat field.. I do feel for you on that front.. Harsh punishment for a simple mistake.
I am a new player and I bought FS22 after watching your Haut-Beyleron series (all 200 episodes) .. I have found a glitch which I don't know if anyone else has found.. I decided to do oil production so after harvesting my canola field I bought the oil production factory ( on Elm creek) . I then did a contact which was delivering to that factory. After doing the contract and delivering the canola to the factory I was paid $898 million .. hmmmmm not sure what to do now.. lol kinda broken the game. Any suggestions?
That suck you lost your oat harvest.
Another great video one of my favourite series this on keep up the great work
Is this map available yet? I started on Moss Valley, but I had to quit because of floating straw bales and JCB
Yes
@@jbeattie02 is it on a separate website or in game modhub?
@@maria-dt5ux modhub
We don’t grow much for oats in my area but I can sure tell you we never stop harvest to bale straw ever. Straw can weather the rain better than the grain. Super unfortunate what happened but it’s a learning lesson!! Love the realism series so far you’re doing great. Much love from Ontario Canada
Does it really matter when oats wither in real life? It is just how the game works. And it is not like Farming Simulator mechanics are always true to life. I seriously don't understand the 5x time speed. If you were at 1x you would easily be able to harvest that field. And I mean what do real farmers do in real life when there is nothing left to do in that day? They just rest. How on earth doing the same thing in this series would make it too easy? I love your videos Daggerwin but I just don't understand your logic sometimes. This is a birilliant series. Back to the "realism is key" days. But some of your rules are kinda ruining it imho.
Hi Daggerwin, love your series, watching almost every video from you. You know there is also a stretch foil addon for wrapers, also works for the combined machines. lkike yours
Wow what an amazing way to mess up 😂 sacrificing a crop of oats for a few straw bales ?! You never ever start bailing before the harvest is complete if you dont have workers when playing 1mont/day
You seem to do cows on almost all of your playthroughs and it just ends up with you doing little but looking after them. Kind of ruins the playthroughs imo. Maybe do something different like chickens or horses?
Might make a nice change of pace.
I got a good idea daggerwin Why can’t you put your times in real time And put your per month for 28 days give you 28 days in a month to carry on where we doing like harvesting it’s give you more time if you just leave on one month, then you’ll be Rushing around And you might missed bit of cops, and it was a give you more time to plant more crops into the fields and it’s also giving you more time to cut the grass cut and 28 days it won’t go back and you got more time cut the grass Ted the grass into hay more to windrow it into a swath more time to bale it up Saving you two hashbrowns. If you leave it in one month, it will just grow back then you cannot see where the swoths in the ground because the grass is starting to grow back.
I have said it many times but Thank you, I really enjoy your Videos.
In the field beside the lake there is a way into the oat field
Do you consider using the mod (Real vehicle breakdown) for more realism? still a beta but works well. something that should be in the base game really :)
I am very much enjoying this series and I know progression isn't super fast in this series, but I feel this will really set you back, is is possible to have some sort of crop insurance? maybe a government scheme?
Really in September first two weeks you will be ok but you will lose some oats. Depends on how much rain you get, In real life. In the game time you just have to bite the bullet plow oaks up.
Pls can you put unload unfinished bales early mod on
Funny the yard is full of cars and you cant use none. I get it that they are just decorations but still... And as usual best FS videos ever 👍😎
It is not that hard to check the game calendar if you dont know when something can be harvested and when its too late. Its no wearth crying about it and searching google, its a game and it tells you very clearly.
i was using that exact baler and it only netted the bales although i wanted to wrap them and i could not figure out how to get them to wrap on the back and then drop from that baler, any advise would be greatly appreciated.
A tricycle will probably be a cheaper option and more reliable option than a dirtbike
And cheqper
cheaper
We harvested oats one year in October once due to a very wet summer.. bit of black mould and reduced yeald but crop was for cattle feed so no great loss.
When you get cows, please don't sell the yard scraper. Keep it and stick it on a cab less tractor for realism
It would wither because of seasonal temperature variations, so surely there would be leeway.
towing header trailers with combines isn't worth it. Too much trouble lining them up
Day:-14 of asking daggerwin to update playlists on the go
Is there a way to have the bailer hold on to the bail while bailing and you could drop 2 at the same spot or drop them off all in the same area?
Ah yes, a 698T on a 15 tonne grain trailer. Very fitting for a realistic series 😂
Id say if you looking too sell that wheel loader do it soon because the value going too keep going down worth doing it sooner rather than later
Fyi the top cow barn near where you store your machines is the cow barn to use if you want cow poop as the other doesnt give you any also it auto sells milk so no need to buy a tanker
Hi 👋🏼 what mods are you using? Thanks. 😁
I thought you were going to reconfigure that bailer with bale on end attachment?
Caw blimey Wyn, you need bale stacking lessons - Dennis
I'd cheat back in time just for this once cause that seams strange
you have 6 bales worth of wrapping left in the bailer
26:54 what are the things flying in the sky beside the moon?
Bummer about the oats, Daggerwin. That's frustrating.
It's flustrating that he keeps complaining about the same thing in half the series when it's so easy to check.
Why you not add GPS mod and working camera mod?
Depends on how late you planted it?
Hey do you use reshade because your graphics are amazing
Cow jumping the moon at around 27:00!!!???
Calmsden had starts if I remember correctly
And this is why you need to run with more than one day per month
Will there be a 1 million subscriber special?
Thanks for another really great episode
It's not motor anything bike it's dirt bike
Daggerwin Daggerwin! To be safe, you can also give the month 2-3 days! And when there's nothing to do, all you have to do is fast forward time (
Daggerwin add realistic animal losses mod
I'm Loving this series! I'm still learning to play FS and learning a lot from your videos. Thanks for the great content, you're definitely one of my favourite content creators!
October it should have withered
Could we get a mod list if possible?
It doesn't matter what is the expected harvest time in real life. The game with seasons enabled has July and August as the harvest window for oats.
I would change in a 2 or 3 day month to give you a small buffer when harvesting. Also baling can be done in the month after with no issue whatsoever, so next time maybe harvest all the field that have that month deadline for harvesting and then bale it all up.
Love your videos.
I recommend pain dain and the grease mod
I'm pretty sure I seen animals floating in the sky at 26:55, oh my, great videos as always, thanks for your service in entertaining so many people.
there was a way throw the grass to the oats
speed x3 is perfect like real life
