  • Bobcat T650 instantly stopped and coding for low hydraulic charge pressure, and engine shuts down. The most common cause for this situation is a broken drive belt. This machine broke a belt but does not have an issue with the tensioner.

    I really miss this channel above all others. My T650 (2014 w/ 1200 hours) just did the exact same thing. Was lifting a heavy compost pile to turn it, I heard the machine struggling, then all hydraulic power stopped cold with bucket half way up so I couldn't open my cab door. No way to release bucket or back machine out of the pile. About 10-15 seconds after all functions stopped, saw something like : Hydraulic Pressure Relief/Hydraulic charge in shutdown. I didn't have my phone, so no way to take photo. I had to do the emergency exit out the back cab window on a hot hot day. Wasn't too bad. Looked at hydraulic fluid level, looked low, but I was angled down maybe 15 deg. Searched the videos, and sure enough, same machine, same problem. Looked at my belt, torn in half. I'm in a remote location, so I have to repair it myself. Fortunately I had bought one a while back. Once machine cools down, I'll get to the repair. Steak dinner for you is on me tonight.

    Thank you very much for this informative video and that was exactly my problem after pulling off the cover to discover a belt in 3 pieces. Very thorough explanations although for me the only way the belt was going on was to take off the tensioner, install the new belt and then reinstall the tensioner. Its purring like a kitten now. Thanks again.

    Thanks for these videos. Very thorough and professional. While using my 2005 S185 today, it suddenly lost all hydraulics and then the hydro oil light came on and then it just shut down. Come to find out, all three belts were broken and there was hydro fluid all around the battery and surrounding areas but no idea where from. Gonna hit the dealer tomorrow for parts and see what they think. Thanks again.

    Probably a loss in viscosity in the oil and the pump and/or motor momentarily seized. Would have snapped that belt like a twig. The machine being a "low hour" machine helps explain it. As the hydraulic oil and the metal rotating parts heat up and the tolerances diminish the oil viscosity is critical. First saw it back in the 1970’s when GM changed the gear oil in their manual PU Truck transmissions to a light weight multi-weight from the usual 80/90 weight. They did it to improve MPG for the truck. Under heavy load the transmissions would momentarily lock shattering the clutch disk. Took awhile to figure out that was the problem since the transmission would look and operate fine after clutch replacement. Changed them back to 90 weight problem solved.

    • @BP-ej3mp
      @BP-ej3mp 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Any truth to this? I just bought a machine with 1000hrs, took it for a 5 min drive and it snapped that belt. Low fluid level, could almost feel air bubbles in the fluid.

    • @deanrobb7286
      @deanrobb7286 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@BP-ej3mp very true, the highest friction is between like metals (steel against steel, aluminum against aluminum…) that’s why bushings etc are typically dissimilar metals. Without a good lubricant separating them like metal gears would destroy each other under pressure.

      Thank you vary much for this video, I was able to replace my hydraulic pump drive belt exactly like you show here in your video.
      My belt broke right in the middle of these massive snow storms and I use my 2017 bobcat 570 with 2300 hours for snow removal (including my own street)
      The San Bernardino mountain communities where shut down because of all the snow the local county and state resources where totally overwhelmed. Other state agencies where called in as the whole situation vas declared (A State Of Emergency) Since I’ve talked with other residents who have been up here for thirty years or better and know one can remember anything like it before.
      So how did I get a new drive belt? Long story that happened real fast.
      I called a friend down the hill who went to the bobcat dealership bought a belt and then drove to the bottom of Hwy 330 as I had walked to the hwy hitched a ride with Cal-Fire dropped off at a school where they where offering food, shelter, medical attention and “Evacuation”. I waited a few minutes as the County Sheriff’s where driving individuals and families out of the place. Down to a drop-off point at the Wal Mart parking lot at the bottom of the hill. I got in the van and meet my courier he handed off that lovely/beautiful belt in that awesome cardboard box with the bobcat logo’s all over it.
      So then got another ride back up the hill by a neighbor who owns a convenient store near me who was waiting behind CHP cruiser. as only a vary few cars or trucks where permitted back into the community once or twice a day. The neighbor was bringing up food stuffs to restock empty shelves at the store as was the vehicle behind us that was driven by the daughter.
      Long story short, got back up the hill jumped out at the store and hiked back home where the disabled bobcat was stricken. Replace the belt in short order do to the know I learned watching the “Video” installed new belt and had the machine up and running.
      The machine was throwing the “Low Hydraulic Pressure” code and then shutting down. After the machine was warmed up I got busy moving massive amounts of snow down our street and breaking thru to “The Hwy” . My wife and I did not evacuate but just hunkered down as is the fashion for hard core locals. Luckily the power at our house stayed on we had plenty of propane, water was good pipes didn’t freeze and break.
      Wife just stayed busy with the dogs in the house as I just shoveled snow around the house day after day. But began driving the bobcat around the neighborhood seeing if other people where ok and just helping out all these poor people everywhere who conquered the storms but ain’t going anywhere.
      Operators who own skid steers could only get back into the neighborhoods after the big loaders went through opening up streets as they where in short supply.
      But must of us did survive Snowmageddon of ‘23
      As grocery store roofs did collapse a house fire or two due to heater ventilation issues elderly and many other people just needing to be dug out and brought to shelters or just got the hell out.
      So thank you vary much to “How I Did It” because that’s how “I did it.

    You would think these machines would have an auto tensioner? I’d imagine when there’s a belt designed with pretension you’d have to check and readjust periodically ….if not ..once the belt stretches some it’ll start slipping and burn up faster. Seeing how it’s a bit of a job the get at the belt I would imagine most people never check belt tension?

      When using power tools its hard to tell if the bolt was loose before starting and a loose bolt or nut could have been the cause of failure in the first place, or something like that.

    My t770 lost all hydraulic functions and had low charge pressure code and shut down. But the bob tach worked. I haven’t taken the cover off to check the belt yet but I assume it’s not broken If bob tach works?

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be a safe assumption, it could be very loose and just turning pump enough to work tach cylinder. Bobtach valve is first valve to get pressure because it's actually bolted to the pump. If belt and tensioner look good remove hydraulic filters and check for debris. Start with fan filter. Let me know what you find.
