Really nice review of the @BMW X3 xDrive30e. Plug-in Hybrid. I went PHEV last year and I'm not turning back. Prius Prime is a cost-efficient PHEV that I have at 115 MPG. I can imagine myself doing with same with this X3. Super easy charge overnight in my garage: 23 miles electric using all EV is usually a fun game I play, getting max mileage out of a single night's charge.

Really nice review Tom. You covered all the bases, and I can tell you like the car a lot. I wonder whether there is a difference in range between the US and European versions of the X3 xDrive30e, as I was told that electric-only range is more like 30 miles/50km for the European cars. I think you're right - a lot of people will see this car as an easy way to transition to EVs, and particularly for city dwellers who do little trips, it fits the bill. While people still love and need to travel by car, it seems sustainable choices are gaining in popularity - no bad thing. From other reviews it seems as if people also really appreciate the way the new X3 handles the road and how functional and practical it is, while being refined and comfortable.

Hi Tom - Nice review and I hope they sell lots, and all those people transition to BEV! :-) I just took delivery of an X3 competitor yesterday - Model Y. :-) Just amazing! Space ship. Non-performance, but with 384 hp, it moves - not sure what a Performance version could add on public roads in traffic. And in San Diego, also need to do something about the glass roof. New "Hold" setting means essentially no need for brake pedal. Voice recognition impressive-works for all sorts of things. Great handling! Rear hatch, cavernous storage! No wonder no iX3 coming to US.

Would you review BMW X5 PHEV new version with 24 kW battery announced for US market, the battery size of first generation Nissan LEAF? Thanks.

How long we need to spend for charge battery in case of AC-charger?

Did you do most of your driving in EV mode or blended mode?
