I would be stronger if you would use an other material for the blade, as policarbonate, I used metacrilate and it is not very resistant. but it's all about the materials that you use
That is so cool :) I'm definitely going to make my own! Thanks for the video! A little English vocabulary correction if you're interested in such help: The plastic around the LEDs "diffuses" the light. When attaching the wires to the circuit board, you are "soldering" (pronounced like "sodder") not welding. Welding involves melting the two base metals together as you did with the handle in the beginning.
Paul Pardee Don't you have anything better to do than going around "correcting" people's vocabulary. Go find something better to do, and keep any future grammar lessons in school. Idiots these days.
don't worry, I like that you correct me because I can learn from this, I'm from Spain and youtube is a nice place where I can practice my English, I learn a lot by listening and reading but I also need to learn how to express myself, and if I make mistakes I'm thankful to you if you correct me and then I can learn from this :D
I usually think "oh for a light saber to be combat-ready it has to be expensive" Then I thought, it all comes down to what you use for the blade and how secure it is in the hilt.
this will depend on what materials will you use, I used methacrilate and it is not to much resistant but you could use policarbonate for exemple, that is way more resistant and then I would be completely ready for battle with them
No. There is no way that the material of the clear plastic pipe will survive duelling. The Lightsaber would have to be much stronger. As someone who has practised a sword style I can say this for sure. We practised with bokken which were wooden swords approximately 1.25m long and between 25 - 40mm in depth along the part that takes the impact. Even they had a tendency to break after a while. You would need a material sturdy enough to take hammer blows without shattering, sturdy enough to keep from bending with impacts and yet be translucent with a hollow for you to fit the lighting through. Unfortunately I don't believe such a material exists.
there is policarbonate it is a ultraresistant material that blends a little bit before breaking, and trust me, I have tried them and resist hard impacts, I'll try to do a video showing it. well I'm really preparing a video in my new channel where I'm doing dueling with policarbonate tubes, it will be online in a week more or less, (you can find my new channel in the recomendations of this channel, it's Sutantoworld)
James Lewis But several plexi tubes inside each other and fill in the spaces with translucent resin (I don't know the exact name of it in english). this will give.you a structure that has the elasticity of the resin, yet the stiffness of the plexi. Anyway, I don't know much about plastics, but I am pretty sure there are many materials that are translucent and are way stronger then plexi.
James Lewis I'm not sure about how this joker builds his blade, but yes a real led blade will stand up to a great deal of punishment. Check out The Custom Saber Shop and other saber shops. you can build sabers that have light, sound and are duel worthy. 100 times better than this guys baby toy.
DIY lightsabre Step 1. Get an angle grinder, welder, helmet for welding, some metal bars and some electrical stuff. Step 2.glue together some pvc pieces
ChamZeron the description puts the cost of materials at around 40€ but that doesn't take into account tools, time and labor. if someone has all the tools and skills, and could buy the supplies in bulk for a lower price, they could turn a decent profit even if they sell it for less than official merchandise. but they'd have to stay away from the term "lightsaber"... disney ain't having none of that.
Very cool nice JOB! AWSOME project gonna try this weekend thanks for the video don"t worry your english is well understood thanks again Eric was thinkin some of us dont know how to or know anyone to weld maybe we can use epoxy for metal where you get and what's the tool called you used for making the threads for scews thanks again enjoyed video keep up the good work ..
I am using what appears to be the same led controller as you but I’m using neopixel strips. For some reason, the strips don’t light up no matter what I do. Any tips?
Jonas well, if you wan't to do a 35m long light saber 60m of LED won't be enought, but if you want to do a 1m blade for your light saber with 2m of LEDs you will have enouth You need twice the length of LEDs you want your blade will be
i tried staying awake but i kept falling asleep..my apologies...i thought you have a heavy french accent until i read your description... other than that nice tutorial..
AMAZING!! You're brilliant :D Thank you for this video and display of your creativity. Now to try something like this on my own in time for Halloween... :T
I'm guessing the end product is silent, no sound FX? I didn't catch anything on the vid suggesting you added any kind of sound equipment. Is that for people to figure out for themselves?
is there any way to use a more reflective film for the LEDs? might do this for a sith saber, and also you know anything about installing a sound board?
I don't know so mush about diferent types of films, I used the ones I found, and for the sound board there's ways to make them but are dificult, the easy way is to buy them and connect them to the same battery (if them also work at 12V) but I don't know them, how muche them cost or if them work great
Me and my dad went to the store 8 years ago and found a nice starting hilt for a double bladed lightsaber that can be detached in the middle. We are finally starting the project today. I just wanted to know, what would be a good way to setup the lighting system since the lightsabers will split? If i can, i want the two to be linked to one control module for colors but two separate on/off switches for the separate lightsabers. Help is appreciated. :)
Thanks Obi-Juan
best comment XD

Step one: have a fully equipped metal working shop
azraelsblade already learning
azraelsblade you can use pic instead of metal and just get a hack saw and some sandpaper
and maybe there is a metal worker who can do this things for you
Dear person I would like to bye a lightsaber next week if you could text back from this comment from James Crowther
azraelsblade last step: be able to spin the shit out out of them
"There's a lot of ways to do it, with wood, or plastic tubes." But I decided to do it with metal. *absolute madlad*
huh?

Hello There
@@legoobi-wankenobi3080 General Kenobi
This is by far the best lightsaber making video I saw, thank you for it
thanks you for whatching and comment :D
+Eric Nieto hey how stirty is the blades can you hit them relatively hard and have them intact?
(mined the spelling issues)
it doesnt look very sturdy, id suggest if you make this use it only for a cosplay or a costume and not saber combat
I would be stronger if you would use an other material for the blade, as policarbonate, I used metacrilate and it is not very resistant. but it's all about the materials that you use
+Eric Nieto OK thanks
Great stuff. Making a light saber on the cheap and a decent looking one at that.
I lost my shit when he made that single one into a duel. Best tutorial I've seen so far!
where can I find the kaiber Crystal?
David Climaco I am one with the force, the force is with me
On Illum
David Climaco In the Kyloth caves, obviously.
David Climaco I found my own in old Jedi temple, well try look for it there

This video is amazing, and your English is very good, thanks for this tutorial.
Wing Wang Edits dont lie
Your step-by-step process was very logical. The result was impressive. Your English was excellent. You are one with the force.
the way you built this is very intelligent, and your English is great. great work!
thanks you so much! :D
Amazing. TBH I would rather build my own then buy one, mainly that I knew I created it and it would feel great to make something like this
Did you do it already? I am doing mine at the moment and it is so amazing

I am going to replicate a Graflex style saber. Your lighting tutorial seemed straight forward thank you for this amazing video.
my dad is a welder and likes making stuff, definitely gonna show this to him ☺ you made it look less complicated
Hey, this was pretty awesome! Good job, +Eric Nieto! I especially liked the remote-control color changing idea -- that was a very clever idea.
Well I have a project to do with my dad on the weekend, thanks!
You did a great job! Although the clear plastic end should have a dome shape. But other than that, I can't wait to build one!

i know this is too easy but u can put a clear tube on a flash light and put any color film over the light. use craft foam to add extra detail.
Could you tell us more abou the batteries suply?
made 5 of them to battle with friends. thanks for tutorial. They work well😛
How much do they cost to make?

this is absolutely amazing, BUT one question
can it be used for dueling
i don"t think so. doesn't look really solid
just add some more plastic tubing
Khast exe use polycarbonate instead as it’s cheap and it’s the thing used for dueling lightsabers
Why you don't use Electronic led strip, for a sequential effect, turns more realistic!

them would work but with too weak light.. you should use an other kind of LEDs or search an other battery
Hi, question about the plastic tube. 30mm and 16mm is it OD or ID?
and can i use just 1 plastic tube instead?
truly awesome work
could you use a interlock mechanism to better combine both sabers and still do both separately?

Hey, I love your work. I live in Bangladesh and unfortunately they dont have this particular battery how else can i use to power it up?
