- Welcome to Codenames! We're split up into two teams and have to guess our "secret" words before the opposing team. Each team has a spymaster who can see the entire board. The spymaster comes up with a word or phrase that can link as many correct words together as possible WITHOUT linking the opposing team's words. And if the gray word is chosen by either team, it's game over. Super fun game. I love being spymaster and losing my mind listening to my teammates figuring it out lol. Feels very much like being dead in Among Us and shouting at my computer monitor. Enjoy!

As being someone who has lived in Alaska, the Southeast Chain of Islands in Alaska have weather more similar to Seattle, therefore it doesn’t snow anywhere near as much as mainland Alaska and doesn’t get anywhere near as cold either. I lived in both Petersburg for a year and Ketchikan for a year and I don’t remember it ever getting below 0 and if it did, it was like that less than 5 days.

The populated areas of Canada aren't cold, we have normal seasons. We're no Florida but Summers in BC are decent. It'll be 98 F tomorrow.

I agree. I also heard some places in BC (like Lytton and Cache Creek) are up to 42 C/108 F.
@@derekuber1 I am from Calgary and our weather is mixed, thankfully the highs have mostly been around 30 C this year (however they just put out a heatwave warning today about temps potentially reaching mid 30s), but last year we had a high of 36.5 C (97.7 F), which is dangerous. Our housing infrastructure is meant to keep heat in during the winters, and lots of households still do not have AC. Last year dozens of people died in Alberta, and hundreds died in BC due to the heat wave. We need to start building homes that can handle both extremes.

canada can hit high temperatures it was 100F where i am east of Maine in New Brunswick but overall it is way colder then the states, i mean texas gets snow almost never and even a little shuts the place down and burst pipes, we get can a their lifetime of snow in a hour. we are further north then the states so logically it is colder.
also himidity is a difference, dry vs humid heat really makes a difference canada is just very humid so its very sticky sweaty heat..
Texas doesn't really get snow it gets something closer to ice. The first time I saw real snow I was confused. (Not that it's an excuse for the power grid issues)
States further south don't have the infrastructure to deal with cleaning up snow, they don't salt the roads.

I’m always happy when a new session of Codenames pops up! Ze does a great job as Spymaster of balancing logical clues with absolutely wild ones that somehow work out, lol. Excellent work in that first round, although I did feel for Kara since Blitzen was a really great clue if only the rest of her team had understood what the name meant. But that’s the risk when tossing out very specific names or titles; however, I do not blame them at all for picking Dog when the clue was Smol. Who doesn’t love Smol Dogs, lol?
I also felt for Skadj with that Picnic/Park mistake. I have never been to Alaska but from everything Skadj has mentioned about it, it sounds like an intriguing place to live, lol. The Europe clue was also a tough one since it felt like it could have fit several clues-I thought for sure it was Minotaur and never would have thought of luck of the Irish. Not picking Iron for Mineral though, that was a blunder, but the FE-Male joke and instant Starting Screen that followed definitely made up for it, lol.
I’m so glad the big swing worked out better for Ze’s ‘The Sandlot’ clue. I, having seen very few movies, would have floundered with it, but I’m glad that for once a movie clue worked out as it was supposed to! Ending it with the other team hitting the bomb was a hilarious and unexpected outcome but felt oddly deserved considering the chaotic nature of this group, lol.
The players and words might vary, but Codenames consistently brightens my day, and I’m very much looking forward to the next session!

25:40 I'm more or less on the same level as Justin. I have beaten the GBA Link to the Past and Minish Cap. Outside of those 2, I played about 2 minutes of the OG GB Zelda and some multiplayer on an unknown DS Zelda game. The latter was a vs, not story, so I'm not sure it was even worth mentioning.

'correct' spelling is 'flies'. as the bird 'flies' oh how time 'flies'...... its always been 'flys'.....and the bug fly plural is also 'flies' which is how i remembered it....
It's a general rule in english, isn't it? When a word ends with a -y, the -y becomes -i or -ie upon extending. Hence "fly" becomes "flies", "bury" becomes "buried", "city" becomes "cities", "symphony" -> "symphonic" etc?
@@kamikazesopp Yes, but only when preceeded by a consonant. If preceeded by a vowel, the y stays and you just add the s, like in "stays."
Apparently, flys IS correct for the plural of some noun versions of fly. Particularly, the zipper of your pants, the 19th century carriage, multiple fly balls in baseball, and the area over a theater stage. VERY uncommon, but not necessarily incorrect.

Might not work... But you could try doing a custom Codenames set with just Names, so teh spy master have to give hints like movies / tv shows / music etc relating to a person with that name
The only problem with that is that people would actually have to know people's names and what they've done/been in. A lot of names aren't as universally known as one would assume. Proof: any time Chilled has dropped a movie reference as his clue in one of these.
