Great to hear your reaction to these film release announcements, Daisuke! I still recall your introducing me to the film Performance during an older series of discussions you had. I have gotten my copy of that same Blu-ray out to watch in the near future before the Criterion release. That movie is so psychedelic. I've never seen Cronos but I am a fan of the Guillermo Del Toro films I have seen. Especially Pan's Labyrinth and Blade II. I'm really excited about Drug Store Cowboy as I've heard it mentioned here & there before. I love Matt Dillon and the only Gus Van Sant movie I've seen is Good Will Hunting so it will be good to expand my thoughts on his films. I thoroughly enjoyed the Criterion release of Chilly Scenes of Winter and Crossing Delancey sounds like a happy follow-up from the same director. Thank you for sharing some of your personal attachments to these films, as always. I understand what you described about your mother's excitement about a particular film and your taking on a personal attachment to your loved one's excitement. I am pleased to share that I have been spending a lot of time exploring my new 4K player (PlayStation 5) and some of the titles I own on 4K. I've been nothing short of blown away by some of the experiences and think it will continue to be worth my time to invest in both the 4K format discs as well as a higher quality television/sound system to take advantage of the technology that I am regrettably late to adopting. Though I also enjoy being somewhat behind the curve as it gives me such a mind blowing experience that is personal to me. This rule will apply to when I might finally see the film Punch Drunk Love on a Criterion 4K release. As big a fan of Paul Thomas Anderson I claim to be and I have somehow avoided seeing that film. I know nothing about King Lear except the basic outline of the father demanding flattery from his kids. No doubt Jean Luc Goddard takes a radical approach to the story through a cinematic lense if I had to guess. At the time of this comment, I have enjoyed the 50% Criterion sale and have added to my collection Le Samourai, Scarface, Being John Malkovich, Perfect Days, The Last Emperor 4K release, Raging Bull 4K release, Pandora's Box, and I'll have Paper Moon when it releases. Hope to grab 1 or 2 more before the sale ends. Let me just say while I'm thinking about it, I watched The Last Emperor Criterion 4K release as well as the Arrow 4K release and just wanted to share how truly different I found them to be. I was comparing scenes on the DVD, blu-ray, 4K's and streaming for quite a while and had a lot of fun doing that. It always is fun to put your mind on how the presentations of films are seen initially in life vs later after certain enhancements, alterations, cuts etc. Also, one more cool cinema nugget I came across was from Al Pacino mentioning a story about an alternative ending to The Godfather part III that I thought was so cool that you should look up if you get bored. Anyway, it was good to have some cinematic discourse on your TH-cam channel again today, my friend! Cheers!

I'd rather have Magnolia or There will be blood 4k. Punch drunk love is nice, but the blu ray is enough for me!

Top news that Crossing Delancey is getting the Criterion treatment - one of my favourite movies. The whole cast is brilliant, and Reigert is spectacular as the pickle man.

Saw this movie a few years back on TCM and has been a fave of mine ever since. Riegert is swoon-worthy perfect as Sam, the Posners Pickle Man and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Amy Irving looking more incandescent than she is here. I still remember the look on Ms. Irving’s face as she first lays eyes on that neighborhood eccentric singing “Some Enchanted Evening” from the Gray’s Papaya scene: a plethora of emotions washing over her as Joan Micklin Silver’s camera slowly zooms in, effectively punctuating the moment with a look of wistful romantic longing from Izzy. This whole film is magical!

@mguevarra61 so many great scenes, so many great lines. When Sam offers a room to Izzy's married 'boyfriend' and she says "That was nice of you." and he looks at her and says "Was it?" - just brilliant. There's a couple of other JMS films on TH-cam that I have just found, more wonderful stuff.

Drugstore Cowboy and Punch-Drunk Love coming to 4K is awesome, while Crossing Delancey sounds very interesting. Thank you for talking about the upcoming releases Daisuke, I hope you’re doing well. Please take care and have a great rest of your day!
