    Barnes and Noble need to realise that the youtubers are bringing more people to their Criterion sales by videoing hauls. They need to see it as free advertising.

    I think that store employee saw John and thought to himself, "Oh, there's that guy who thinks Flight of the Phoenix is boring. I'm going to tell them they can't film in here." But seriously, John I agree with John regarding Matewan. It's an outstanding film you should strongly consider getting. And I have both of those TCM books John gave you. I'm a sucker for that type of genre-focused book, and those two are excellent examples. Finally, I bought Happiness this month and liked it. However, I can certainly understand how many viewers might be put off or even highly offended by the subject matter. It especially might land differently for people with small children.

    Not allowing people to film is a corporate thing, since they don't know what kind of video you're making. They don't want to take any risks. They just don't know how wonderful you guys all are! I've worked in a Blockbuster once and I would turn a blind eye if someone filmed unless they were being disruptive like the teens who had stolen all the letters from the theater sign across the street and were filming themselves making cuss words on the floor.
    The one criterion you did get has immediately entered my wishlist!

      @@AVAPopCulture No they don't. It's private property and them denying you the ability to video tape in the store is not federally protected right. If you think a store has to have every single possible rule posted then not sure where you are getting that info.

      @vlcheish this is literally from the law on the books in the state of georgia...I encourage you to go to the Film Georgia website...her is an excerpt
      What you can film
      You can film things that are clearly visible in public spaces, such as federal buildings, transportation, and government officials. You can also film in many public settings, such as grocery and other retail stores, parking lots, and parks.

      No they don't have to have it posted. For example they you can't play drums in Barnes and Noble despite them not posting that its forbidde. There are some businesses where you can do it like a music store.

    Tbf I'd prefer it if people asked to film in my store rather than just assume that it's okay, it's private property and there are others around who may not wish to feature in a video. I'm even talking about people coming in back in the days of camcorders. I've never kicked anyone out but if I let someone film a TH-cam video I've got to let the kids record their annoying tiktoks.... I'm just trying to work :D

      What are you trying to say?
      I’m going to guess English is not your first language, which is fine, but you have a LOT of spelling errors all over the place.
      As for the comments being addressed? Criterion 4K releases are only $5 more than their bluray counterparts and they include the bluray in the release itself.
      For me, if there is a film I don’t already own. I will always go for the 4K option from Criterion. It’s not that much more in cost. But I still very much will buy blurays of any release that does not have a 4K version. Not to mention of course it’s higher quality video.
      What’s so bad about buying 4Ks?

    • @DannyDaCat
      @DannyDaCat หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@beaw806 It's really up to the person and their set up. A lot of casual film viewers are fine with any medium, because they're more interested in the content than how it's presented, or desired to be presented, by the film maker. For some technical cinephiles they are trying to pump as much detail and quality out of the source material as possible to get back to the original intent of the film. For some 4k gets them closer to that intent. However, there have been situations where upgrades to 4k don't live up to the quality that is possible. If you're happy with a film just because of the content and don't care on the medium, then moving to the latest version (4k) isn't a big deal. People need to avoid saying "upgrade to 4k" because not all 4k releases are "upgrades" to a previous release in a lower format.

    • @JasonThomas-o6y
      @JasonThomas-o6y หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I buy 4k for my new purchases, I try not to re-buy things I already own unless the Blu Ray has a bad transfer. That can get extremely expensive and is a slippery slope.

    You didn’t do anything wrong. You weren’t disruptive. You weren’t causing a scene.
    I don’t understand the obsessiveness behind stores not wanting any filming in them of any kind.
    You are purely just promoting their store and products that they sell. It’s free promotion.
    Just strange behavior from corporate.
    Personally, as someone who’s worked customer service jobs before. I typically will turn a blind eye to filming rules if the person is not being annoying about it, despite being told otherwise.
    I guess this employee didn’t get that memo. My guess is he just started there and wanted to do his job well and kicking people out for filming on the surface does look good I guess.
