It's awesome to see two of my favorite TH-camrs collaborating. And the fact that you picked Dune for your first discussion makes this even more perfect.

The main reason their isn’t an emotional connection in the dune series is because it’s not about the main characters , we just follow them. The story is about the evolution of humanity itself, and it’s sci-fi aspect of the golden path. That’s the story of dune and that’s it’s ultimate focus

I know these are podcasts so it’s free flowing, but having some general chapters in the time stamp would help find specific topics of interest.
Glad to see 2 of my favorite film essayists collaborating like this

There's like an hour of deleted scenes would of made this film even better so many good scenes were cut I can't believe it hope one day they get released or we get an extended edition. So many amazing scenes cut just for time. Save the deleted scenes.

I think that Herbert May have been influenced by Isaac Asimov‘s foundation. The Voice, for instance, is a critical part of the organization known as the second foundation.

David Lynch wanted to make a much larger film but the studio did not allowed him. That is why his film is not so good and that is also how he learned to create a film only ir he has 100% control.
